Basic 6psi JRSC GSR with Hondata and Tom Payn map...Tom's map was tuned for a 9psi GSR w/ low compression...
With my car, on the dyno, it was EXTREMELY LEAN...a/f ratio was at 14 instead of 12 or whatever for FI. Peak whp was at 188. I increased the fuel pressure w/ AEM fpr to 46psi (vaccum off)...a/f ratio dropped to 13.6 and whp to 191..still dangerously lean. A friend (brian) with stage 4b was going to tune it but we couldn't get in because of map was password protected http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif
Anyways, if i'm going to use Tom's map, only Tom can change it..so even if you have stage 4, it's useless unless you tune it from scratch. This means that every change I make, I would have to ask Tom to revise the map, bring it back to the dyno and pay for another session ($75 to run per session) http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif This sucks!
I'm thinking of putting the Endyn pulley in first, then start tuning...what do you guys think?

If it's running lean I wouldn't put the higher boost pulley on until you fix that. But higher boost is a wonderful thing.

John,
Don't worry, man. I'm sure that Tom will work something out with you. Tom's map yielded 197whp on my Civic Si on the first pull, so it sounds like you need to make a few adjustments.
Why didn't you keep increasing a/f until you got about 12.5:1 ?
What was your VTEC set to? This setting had a very dramatic effect on my car.
If your dyno is charging you by the pull and not by the hour and you are having to pay those rates, you are getting seriously reamed. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif I paid $125/hr and I made 10 pulls + tuning in that hour.
Call me if you want to chat. I e-mailed you my number.

Sonny,
Increasing the fp w/ aem fpr will increase fuel across the power band...not specifically at lean spots where most needed. What I believe we need to do at this point is rich up the map at certain places (after vtec).
My car is set everything at stock..ei. stock timing (16 btdc, vtec 4850rmp or whatever set at factory Hondata)..Id idn't touch anything or change the rev limiter or anything...
About the dyno, I can't tune the map (password protected)...so it doesn't really matter if I have an hour to run on the dyno or one pull, all I can do is look and run the same crap over and over again...even with stage four, with TOm's map, it's useless cuz you can't change it unless doing from scratch...Duhh, I ordered from Tom to get the map so I can modify it from there..but I guess I was wrong. You were right..Tom offered to change the map for me..but there is no way you can fine tune it this way...every little change needs to be made, he has to change it, email it to me, then I have to bring my car back to the dyno and see it on there...then make another change, ask him to change it, bring the car back...you get the picture...

Dyno graph of Tom's map ... Sorry I don't have a scanner so I snapped it with a digital camera.

John:
I'm pretty sure that Tom will work with you if he knows that you'll be tuning your map. From his perspective, there's probably $1000 invested in that map, so he doesn't want people just to distribute it. Tom's been very flexible with me. I'd just give him a call.
As far as your graph, the VTEC engagement is set too high. You can see how big of a jump there is in torque at the switchover.
My experience with this map was that if the VTEC is too high and timing adjustments were not made after the switchover, I lost big power from the point of engagement up to the redline.

Just wondering, but why would you a low compression, high boost PROM for a basically stock boosted GSR? It would seem reasonable to think you would not receive the same results, unless you mirror your setup to Tom's.

LOL...yeah, still running. The manifold got hot enough that we could have cooked lunch on it while we were tuning though. Every cloud has a silver lining, right? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
