The cold wind of fall is whisking through our apparel. The air is brisk. Soon it will be winter. The leaves will be gone and the
day light amber. There is one comfort though.To see the majestic Warm Chouette "Owl" lining our streets .
It gives our city a certain prestige and warmth on those cold winterly nights.

I get to Montreal about once a year. Usually in late November for a weekend. Beautiful city with alot of character, especially in winter. Some of the best restaurants of any place I've ever been.
Great town....just DON'T DRIVE...Montreal is now considered the car theft capital of North America. A good friend of ours daughter went to Montral to a big softball tournament during the week of the 4th of July. During the 5 day tournament there were something like 30 cars STOLEN from the parking lot. One was this FBI agent who's daughter was also playing the tournament. He was sitting in the stands as he watched his 2006 ****** drive out of the parking lot.
Maine refuses to send any more teams to the tournament because of the rash of thefts they had at LAST years tournament. NH is now considering the same.
I use to spend a few weeks in the summer at Hampton Beach . There was a big Victorian white house next to the ocean wall. Thats were I heard the Altecs for the first time . A place called the casino ballroom . After diner I would stand by the door and listen to the music.It was loud you could hear it right onto the veranda.

The Casino Ballroom started as just the Hampton Casino. It was built to give a place for the trolleys to go coming out of Exeter and Amesbury. The Opera House was added later, then Ocean House hotel, and finally the Ballroom.
The Opera house became a movie house. The entire complex was given a 1950's front, but was still 1850's on this inside. The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom was still making money with movies in the Opera house and live performances in the Casino Ballroom.
A riot over a Jethro Tull concert where the NH National Guard was called up ended concerts at the ballroom and led to the Casino's downturn. By the 1970's the Ocean House had to be demolished .

I remember it on the news. That and the increase in CND $ would account for that.We`ve been through a merger then demerger of a large quantity of municipalities in the past few years.Things will take time to reajust back to normal.

The ballroom is still there. They have summer concerts and shows there...It's pretty run down though.
