Being the evil, rich, white Republicans that we are, I've been on the phone for hours, trying to find some place that will take donations.

What we have are 20-dozen movies on VHS and a VHS player. Some other stuff, too.

Women helping women sent me to the Anna Louise Inn. They sent me to a bad phone number.

Anyone have a favorite charity with a valid phone number?

I hardly think a womens shelter wants a bunch of porn and a VCR with sticky buttons.

All of you may think this is funny BUT I swear it is true. There is a place that some woman called because our parish wanted to donate some older computers and this place would take them BUT only if you (speaking generally) paid them to take 'em.

That's happening all over as people are finding it hard to dispose of old computers. In many locales it costs you money to properly get rid of them. TV's too.

What many people are trying is to dump thier old, worthless computers on charities and get them to pay for thier disposal.

What is the country coming to, indeed. (Hey, you said "hell". I'm offended.)

I don't know about charities but you might try checking and see if a freecycle list is operating for the Cincinnati area. They're becoming popular for people who want to just give stuff away to others.

I think there's a portal site for freecycle lists, mostly hosted on yahoo groups. Their site is at www.freecycle.org.

I've checked out freecycle (gimme, gimme gimme) and craigslist (only weirdo's need apply). Since neither get high marks from the tarts at Salon, I'll pass.

I just want to give the perfectly good stuff to someone who will use it. Right now, GL (willing to pay shipping fees) is at the top of the list.
