I just got done doing the JR Map Conv. install, and started her up, and she almost shut off on me because of a real low idle, the idle is sparatic between 900-1100 on my vafc, it can't be a vac leak because all i did is splice into the vac between the jr FMu/BTC and the manifold. should i try resetting the ecu? Please any advice appreciated, i live in charlotte low sea levels not in the mountains.

make sure you hooked up the wires correctly. methinks you've messed up your MAP sensor signal.

okay, i fixed my map code, by resetting my ecu, ok good, now,
I went for a test drive, and ouch not good, I drove cautiously until the car was properly warm, then bam, went to boost, and a/f gauge was straight on red. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the directions said to take off the fuel enrichment relay.. WTF,, did i do something wrong here? I didn't think it was going to be this much of a problem. i need a fuel pressure gauge and not that stupid B&m one.

any ideas why my fuel isn't getting enriched? I mean if it was green i would be worried, but that thing goes all the way to the last red when i try to go into boost... Its definetly scary, and will not be driven for awhile, until i figure out what the problem is.

okay. this is kind of ghetto, but i was in a hurry, beside i just woke up.. Hope this helps.

Two things to check:
First, are the green and green/red wires from the MAP mod box connected in the PROPER order ???
Second, did you splice in the MAP mod wires between the MAP sensor and the V-AFC or between the V-AFC and the ECU ??? YOU MUST SPLICE THE MAP WIRES BETWEEN THE SENSOR AND THE V-AFC... it must modify the original sensor output.
Another thing that you might check is your repair of the original IAT wires. Remember that you have to reconnect this out at the temp sensor and then splice in the MAP mod down near the ECU.
Good luck.

well, i'm not sure what the problem is, except the fuel enrichment relay works, so my assumption is that the FE relay is tricking the engine to put fuel in, but my JR FMu isn't working at all. That could be the problem, because in vac, the car drives fine, but as soon as i go to boost, it goes straight to lean, i aslo check that there is a good vac souce for the map, and nothing is obstructing boost/vac. I don't have another fmu to try, so i guess i'll just have to start buying more shit..... which really sucks because i'm trying to sell all this JR stuff, but i don't want to until, everything is running right, this is obviously one of two things.
1. JR FMU isn't working at all when boost is present.
2. JR Map converter isn't working, and without a scan tool its hard to tell exactly
-
one of a few things could be wrong.
1) Vacuum leak
2) bad ground (solder all connections)
3) the SAFC could be causing problems
-
okay,, this is what i know
1. checked for vac leaks
2. ground is behind ecu bolt is per instructions
3. vafc could be causing it, but i doubt it.
What would cause the car to run fine, but when i go to boost i get nothing, but straight lean, i didn't push it to see if i would do anything, because power went straight down, and the last red led on my a/f was on at full throttle, so i let off and drove her home, now she sits in the garage until, i can figure out whats up.. I check and double checked all vac hoses/connections.. everything is fine except the fact there is no fuel when boosting.

I implemented the MAP Mod with my J&S Ultra V2 today, yanked the TPS mod and the IAT relay. Then i lowered my static fuel pressure from 60psi to 52psi. The car runs smooth and fast..no tip in problems (hooray). and i also reduced my boost timing retard a bit, but its real humid here today, dont know if thats reducing the likelyhood of detonation or not.
My A/F gauge is quite lean when i enter boost too...it takes a second to go rich. it is scary looking. I dont know whats up with that, however, I cannot get it to detonate and its pulling fine, no audible pinging, J&S is quiet. *shrug*
I wanna do a wideband o2 dyno run now and see how the fuel is looking...maybe screw a run up by letting off the gas to go out and back in to boost... would they let ya do that?
