Progress Report: Manga Overtkill custom [NEW PICS at end]

Ok, been working on the new custom when I could this weekend, made some more modifications, and have some new pictures to share.

I am going to go with the tank for the back from Vulcan Raven (as soon as I get a hold of one), and I have decided to lose the shoulder pads altogether, to go for that HellBoy/Creech look a little more. I will then be able to store the batteries for the LED and the switch inside that tank, saving me room and workspace in the torso.

As you can see below, I removed the arms at the shoulders, and dremelled out the sides of the torso. I am still figuring out how to to the joint, but the shoulder will be in a ball-joint allowing to rotate and raise the arms. The elbow joint will also straighten, allowing for more posing.

The legs have been cut to begin the thigh swivel, and the hips have ball joints now.

Still no clue on the paint scheme. Not baby blue for sure...

Thanks man, amd about the packages - yeah me too. I've been very disappointed with the USPS lately...

As for OvertKill, It's really very far from being done, but at least it's coming along... the arm joints are going to be quite interesting to get to work. [img]smile.gif[/img]

For this and the Manga Spawn, I used the ball joints that I cut off of some Bionicles figures I got on clearance. The arms from the Manga spawn use both the ball joint and the bionicle receptacle joint, but the hips on both the manga spawn and overtkill just use the ball part of the joint, and then they pop into holes that I dremelled out of the leg. I can post pics later when I'm hope to show better.

I just ordered a bunch of ball joint from Japan - they are from the WAVE option system used for gundam models. I haven't used those yet, but they should come in handy. I hope to use those for the arm joints I need to make to straighten Overtkill's arms, and to swivel his shoulder. It's turning out to be quite the pain in the ass. I'm interested to see how it will turn out myself. [img]wink.gif[/img] Just kinda winging it right now...

Wow, that's really neat! Can't wait to see what the finished product will look like. You've got to have pretty damn good patience I'd think.

As for patience, not really... I get frustrated, work on other stuff, come back, start two more projects, come back, start three new things, come back... [img]wink.gif[/img] Baimun knows what I'm talking about... it's like "custom figures A.D.D."

This one is becoming my most complex one to date... and its kicking my ass. If I ever get it all done, hopefully it will have been worth the effort.

I'll be sure to post progress as it is made though. Hopefully it'll be done before the end of 2004...
