I found this in the paint department at home depot for $4. It looks made for the filter! (This is an IP filter that comes with the $60 IP 3" shortie intake).
It will fit with only some minor bending. Dremel in a 3" hole in the bottom for some cold air ducting (home depot, appliance aisle) and your done!

i run a(literally)FOLGERS COFFEE CAN on my AEM CAI filter.......i did, however cut out the FRONT PORTION to allow more direct air contact......but similiar purpose, plus it keeps my V700 rubber from MELTING into the filter! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey Greg, Interesting setup. If you have access to a scantool, I'd take some before and after readings to see how well it works. My first heat shield was made out of metal and it absorbed a lot of heat under the hood. It was hot to the touch, and can heat up the air around the air filter. Then again, each particular setup is different and can have different result.

oh yeah, it does have the k&n that came with the Injen iside the stocj airbox. I made a little shield to keep hot air from coming in the box where the pipe goes in.

strng1dah: How well does the K&N filter fit into the stock airbox? I thought the box would be a bit too skinny (like the skinny yet long stock air filter). Also, is the airbox in its' stock mounting points? I don't remember where it goes!
JT98CivicEX: I'm not putting the short intake or the heat shield on yet. I will hopefully visit a dyno in a month or two and will compare the AEM cai vs. the 3" shortie.

It fit barely. I was shocked as hell too. It is in it's stock mounting position.
Also I think that this setup will be a little restrictive for a setup like yours. The stock airbox is very small as you noticed. it works for me now since this is my only current mod http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif .
