That statement just conjurs up so many feelings...
Great for the Artist, Record Company etc.
Puts the pressure on before the release?
For me the 'fan' it would spell the end of the fraction of intimacy that I perceive still exists at the current time.
Have decided I don't like that statement after all, I must be weird.
Please don't think I wouldn't be pleased for great success to be achieved though!!!

I wouldn't think that Barb
When I read that 'global megastardom' bit I couldn't help feeling it was a bit of a premature statement, even if me thinking that is stating the obvious, as clearly no-one will have a clue how the album will do yet

It is very premature Michelle.
Also I equate 'global megastardom' with Micheal Jackson and I won't go down that road, lol!

I agree with you both in that it's a bit premature to come out with such a statement given that nobody has heard this album yet. Of course I want him to do well with. I don't think the word megastardom would sit well with Darren though because he's essentially a private person and if this CD did propel him into that stratosphere of fame I'm not sure he'd be able to handle it well. His privacy which he guards so closely would ultimately be compromised.
I hope this CD gives him the success that he wants with it and that it does well for him. I would admit though that I would hate to lose that sense of intimacy that we've had up till now if it really goes mega global because then there would be even more of a distance between him and his fans. Maybe that sounds a bit selfish but it's also because I feel protective towards him and deep down I think he'd hate to lose all that.
The best way that I can take this statement atm is that it looks very promising for him indeed

I agree totally with you Janie....he would lose all anonymity (sp?) I can't imagine he would like that at ALL....

It's smacks of jumping the gun a bit, doesn't it? But I also hope that this album does well for him b/c I'd hate to think of the consequences to his career if it bombs.

just sounds like typical promo hypetalk to me

From an extremely selfish fan point of view... I really love having him all to ourselves in a more intimate fan-artist way. I do wish him success, but I love him being more of a "well kept secret"
However... megastardom is not something he is not used to. But, is it something he wants back? I dunno.

I feel a bit selfish too but I want him to achieve all that he is capable of.
It is very good of people who have heard it to say that though. I can't recall words like that when Spin was released, maybe I just don't remember.

I didn't like that statement either when I read it although I agree it is jumping the gun a bit. I feel a bit torn on this really. I want him to do really well but megastardom just sounds so impersonal. I feel really selfish about this but I remember how he came over to us at the HSR premiere and how intimate it was and we'd lose all that.
I agree with Janie that he'd lose his anonymity and his privacy and he'd hate that. I want him to be a success but I don't want everyone knowing who he is. He's a nice well kept 'secret' for me
