2 Questions?

1. I am running the VAFC hack with dsm 450 injectors. Should I get rid of my cartech FMU?

2. Would getting the JR Map Mod really benefit me? I have heard that it doesn't work well with 450s, but I would like to know for sure. I seem to be having some problem with tip-in det I believe.

Upgraded fuel pump
Water injection
VAFC dyno tuned
DSM Injectors
Cartech FMU
All the other basic boltons

Well since the VAFC doesn't change your timing, I'd think that is the potential problem.

What is your timing set at?

Also the whole purpose of the hack is to run large injectors and due away with things like the fmu.

If your VAFC was tuned with the cartech still installed and you later remove it, you'd need to retune because the percentage of fuel being added/subtracted would drastically change.

What about the JR Map Mod? Is it worth spending the money on with my setup or is it a waste of money?

In higher boost, the map mod is not as effective as 6psi (from what I heard here), IMO it can still help solve some tip-in. They are very cheap on ebay if you watch, it couldnt hurt....


I would look at doing a hondata system since you already have the injectors.

And no, you do not need your FMU running 450's.

If I find a good deal on a JR Map Mod then I will probably pick it up. I'm getting rid of the FMU then.

The only reason I haven't gone with a Hondata system is because it is out of my price range right now since I have an OBDII ecu. There seem to be quite a few extra costs involved on top of the system. Maybe next winter, we will see.

S200 with boost + Hondata chipped Ecu cost me $800 shipped and I'm Obd2a. I already had the injectors.

You'd still need to set aside money for tuning though [img]frown.gif[/img]

If I were you I'd retard the timing a bit and see if that solves your problem, before I bought the map mod. Unless you find a deal that you just can't pass up.
