In case you didn't read my post on the toy reviews, since you don't like Muppets, I thought I'd mention in a more obvious way that I had a movie review up as well for Dawn of the Dead.
Simple version - Yea, baby! Excellent horror flick for all kinds of reasons. Check out the usual for the gory details:

Here's my review in case anyone missed it!
*Minor spoilers*
It's attack of the turbo zombies again! It seems like TZs are the thing today; we've seen them in 28 Days Later and now in DotD 2004. But if they'd been slow, stumbling zombies, have of this movie wouldn't have worked. But surprisingly, nearly all the film did work, I thought!
It was fun, fast-paced and exciting. But here's the main point of my review: I don't like to consider DotD 1978 and DotD 2004 related. Sure, this was a remake, but I don't like to consider them the 'same' movie, you know what I mean? I think they both work better aside from each other. Dawn of the Dead 2004 definitely has the 2004 feel to it; but it doesn't embarass the 1978 version, in my opinion. It started to the apocalyptic action right from the beginning, and it truly was frightening. There were some jump scenes in which I jumped.
And unlike some other franchise-related movies that tried to add humour into the movies that didn't work, most of the humour in this film did. (I especially liked the scene in which the survivors pick out zombie celebrity-lookalikes for Andy to shoot. You'd understand it more when you see it in person.)
But all in all, I've enjoyed it. It wasn't DotD 1978, and in some way, I'm glad it wasn't. If they tried to copy the original exactly, they could've failed miserably. But they didn't fail here, and it's definitely worthy of the RottenTomatoes.com reviews.
Bottom line: Good, frightening apocalyptic fun!
80% of 100%.
And Zack Snyder did an incredible job for his first time! Keep it up!

"...the zombies could haul ass."
I loved that line in your review, Michael.

Yea, but they could! Was that dock like a mile from the mall or what? Those zombies were there right on their tail!

Did you jump any?
My Dad and I did one or two times.
I did when Kenneth nearly gets shot by the other survivors they meet in the tunnel in the beginning. It was sudden, and you didn't expect it.
-
Yep, I jumped a couple times. There were also several great creepy moments, like in the parking garage, or when the baby was born.

I found the scene where they reveal the baby's face to be really disturbing.
And I wish he and that lady hadn't shot each other to death.
I thought they were both cool characters.
-
I thought one of the best/most disturbing scenes was near the begining when she sees the little kid in the back of the camper getting pretty much ripped apart by zombies.
-
Actually, I think that was a school bus - and they were all kids. *brrrr*

What's this, the third or fourth DotD review thread on this board within the last couple days? You guys should remember that you can always bump-up a thread that's gone into another page.
Minor quibble; there were too many characters, if you can even call some of their almost-cameo appearances 'characters'. The original worked because you got caught-up in the 4 characters fight for survival, the viewer could root for them. In this case, there were over a dozen survivors in the mall, some without any lines of dialogue. Hell, there was one girl only given a part in the mall because she flashed her tits on the boat during the end-credits!
Enjoyable mind-candy, yea. Good-movie, not really. It'll be forgotten about in a month, until it hits the video stores.
For me, it tries to consciously play off of post-9/11 fears too much: the dead aren't really coming back to life, it's a biologic weapon, transmitted only from the infected to uninfected thru body fluids.
