No, he was talking about how people say Social D sold out because they are no longer a 3 chord punk band with crappy vocals. They actually expanded their musical stylings so they are thought of as "sell-outs" by some of the more "hardcore" punk types. Mike Ness is saying he fights hard to prove that you can have talent and not be a "sell-out".
im not sure where thats from or anything, but what i got from it was thats what people have said to him. like people are saying hes a sellout because he learned to sing and play better......probably people saying hes not "punk rock" anymore or some shit.. who cares, mike ness is the man

a HUGE stereotype in the "punk rock" world is "punk is about playing and not caring how you sound"...as in, "you have to sound like shit to be a punk band"...so bands that step above and become "musicians" are called sell-outs by mindless fuck holes who have the audacity to repeat what they read in their Punk for Dummies handbook

haha I agree with Sickboy, please shut the fuck up....if you dont like the guy so much, think they're never going to play again (which is absurd), etc, why do you continue to post here? I doubt you are changing anyone's minds...and your trash-talking with nothing to back it up is getting so old...would you say any of this stuff to Mike Ness? If you saw him after a show, or driving around OC, or at his shop, would you tell him he is a lazy little bitch(as you claim)? Do you stand by your word? I think everyone knows the answer to that so don't bother replying...
Yeah i think it means that it's hard to progress as a musician, especially as a punk musician, without it seeming like you're selling out. A lot of people think punk is sposed to have sort of a who-cares-what-we-sound-like quality. I think as long as they sound good, it doesn't matter how much effort it sounds like they put into it. And i think a lot of that kind of shitty gritty quality comes from bands being young or without a lot of resources to work with. SO as they play more, they will naturally develop and learn to play better and if they do well, they will have more resources (like better instruments and equipment and recording and stuff).
Also, it doesn't matter if Mike is a shitty guitar player or not. I love a lot of their songs, even if they are just a lot of simple power chords. I also like the solos, even if you think they suck. The music is powerful regardless of how well mike can sing or play guitar. Hell, Johnny Cash is no master of guitar, but he's one of my favorites, as well as a favorite of a lot of other people. Hank WIlliams didn't have a so-called "good" voice, but he's also one of my favorites. Shane MacGowan doesn't have a great voice, but he kicks ass anyway. Good music, punk or any other kind, is about sincerity and how it makes you feel, not necessarily about how talented they are with their instruments or vocals.
