Firstly, I would like to apologize for my english which is rather rocky.
Please, be indulgent if I make some mistakes !
Well, I am 31, I live in France (French Riviera) and I have played drums for 20 years .
I am fond of jazz-funk (Lee Ritenour), jazz-rock (Chick Corea, Jeff beck, Pat Metheny) and rock (Led Zep, Aerosmith, Hendrix, The Doors).
Without forgetting "La Chanson Fran?aise" (Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, G?rard Manset) and French jazz/rock bands (Magma, Uzeb, Ultramarine, Michel Camillo, Michel Petrucciani).
My favourite drummers are :
Vinnie Colauita, Harvey Mason, Ian Paice, Bernard Purdie, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl and also great French drummers like Andr? Cecarrelli, Aldo Romano, Daniel Humair, Paco Sery.

Bienvenue ? notre forum, House of Drumming ! Je suis membre de HOD depuis l'?t? 2004 et je suis de Montr?al, Qu?bec, Canada.
I was in Nice last May and had a great vacation there. I know Andr? Ceccarelli and Paco S?ry and I've seen them play. We have in Montreal, every November, the Montr?al Drum Fest (Le Drum Fest de Montr?al). This year the festival will present two great drummers from France: Manu Katch? and Thierry Arpino (J.L. Ponty). Sure you know them.
J'esp?re que tu va nous donner de 'input' de l'industrie en France. Et encore bienvenue ? notre forum.

Comme tu es un cousin Qu?b?cois (Vive le Qu?bec !!!!!), je te r?ponds dans la langue de Moli?re. Oui tu as raison, Ceccarelli et S?ry sont des batteurs absolument exceptionnels et d'ailleurs Dave Weckl, lui m?me, est un grand admirateur des deux.
Par contre, je ne connais pas du tout Arpino.
Pour Manu Katch?, je ne suis pas trop sensible ? son style m?me si je reconnais que c'est un rythmeur hors-pair.
En tous cas, j'esp?re que tes vacances ? Nice C?te d'Azur ont ?t? excellentes car les filles y sont superbes [img]smile.gif[/img] [img]smile.gif[/img] [img]smile.gif[/img] [img]smile.gif[/img] [img]smile.gif[/img]

Thanks for responding.
Thierry Arpino is Jean-Luc Ponty's actual drummer. He has been living in New York for several years. His father played with the Jacques Lussier Trio (Play-Bach Jazz).

cette ann?e Nice avait une affiche part(iculierement funky:Chic(Omar??),jill scott,angie stone,roy hargrove.
j'aurais aim? y etre.
thieery Arpino is a very fine drummer.i've seen him play a lot in Paris when he was still living there.now he's in NYC where he moved after a terrible drama in his personnal life.
music can be a lifesaver sometimes.we must know how fortunate we are to have sthg we can always rely upon when times are hard.
do you guys know about other french drummers such as:mokhtar samba,karim ziad?
these guys are awesome.they play north african rhytms like no others.very twisted stuff in 6-8.
you should check 'em out.
i think mokhtar released a book 2 years ago.pretty sick stuff if you like this time signature and i'm sure you do. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Oh yes, drumaddix - Moktar. Great player.
We've talked of him here before. Another great drummer Pedro Galindo is a member here, & spoke much of him in an old topic post. My first exposure to Moktar's playing was on a J L Ponty CD...great drumming...I've been a "fan" ever since [img]wink.gif[/img] ... [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] [img]cool.gif[/img]

For Jean-Luc Ponty, I do not know his material very well except few titles like "Egocentrique Mol?cule" etc...

Also check out JLP's "Tchokola" ['91] w Brice Wassy on drums, since you like those "neo-Afro-fusion" stylings... [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]
...Just don't check out TOO many of those 'nice girls'...might be a bit 'overwhelming' [img]wink.gif[/img]
