Let's Have a Tea Party (aka The Pappys ROCK!)

The Pappys hooked me up with 4 Tea Party cds - 2 whole albums and 2 mix cds - and I've finally had a chance to listen to them all.

These boys rock! For those that are familiar with the band and their albums, here were my particular favorites:

I will concur that the Paps rock - but then, so many people do on this board!

Can you equate the artists of the CD you got to anyone that is more known? Interested in seeing if they would interest me as I need some new music infusion

Hmmmm..... a mix of Days of the New, old school Zep, a touch of Audioslave, and some Beatles-esque Middle-Eastern flavored stuff (particularly on Twilight). The singer-guitarist sounds like a cross of Morrison and Page. They manage to do a lot of different things: blues, "folk", hard rock, without it sounding like they are wandering or just dabbling.... it all just "works". [img]tongue.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

And I'd be more than happy to introduce ya to Tod Howarth and UNION if you are interested. Just straight ahead rock - not metal at all, but hard rock. Pappy loved it! [img]wink.gif[/img]

I think I'd have to pass, doesn't sound hard enough for my usualy tastes.. [img]smile.gif[/img]


MM4 - my usual fare is on the heavy side. Classic Thrash Metal, some more new dark metal bands.

The one that tops my list of bands is Iced Earth. And then put in Iron Maiden, Megadeth, OLD Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Nightwish and Lacuna Coil and you have my standard music type.

I also find myself listening to AFI, Velvet Revolver, Queensryche, Joe Satriani, Paragon and Flow a but as well - just to even it all out

I was just telling Megalith about them.
They were a really weird band for me to hear way back when 'The River' got a bit of airplay. I immediately picked up the CD 'Splendor Solis' and put it on our CD/Tape player. My wife and a couple of friends who were staying with us heard 'The River' and my wife asked me if that was one of my new demo tapes [img]eek.gif[/img] My own wife!
My friends also thought it was me. I was like "Shit!!" I was afraid of that." [img]graemlins/grrr.gif[/img] Turned out I had a musical clone who got signed before I did. [img]frown.gif[/img]
Of course I love the band because they have the same musical ideas I do, but I was bummed that I hadn't "beat them to it" as it were. So if you want to know what Darth Pooh's writing /playing/ voice.. USED to sound like..*sigh* Play 'Splendor Solis' and there ya go. I've given my songs some changes now.. [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] [img]confused.gif[/img]

I only have The Edges of Twilight, I admit I haven't heard much of their other stuff but I'm meaning to... "Inanna" is probably my favorite song off that album though.

And if anyone else likes those middle-eastern style tracks like Inanna (and this is for the Pap Force Duo here too), Stuart Chatwood of the band did some really cool work on The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time PC game. I had only played the demo, but afterwards I found a site with all the tracks up for download...very cool Mid-East instrumental stuff (well, no words apart from a woman singing nothing in particular, or maybe in another language?) that's sorta organic mixed with some electronic.

Either way, Chatwood's releasing a CD with all the tracks on it, but here's one place to get them...only thing is you have to sign up for a free account at Fileplanet to d/load 'em:

EDIT: PS, at least grab "Second Battle", "Magical Caravan", and "The Battle" if you're short on time or bandwidth! Then get the rest later, those aren't the only good ones.
