Don't do it at a restaurant, either, because everybody hates it. Wanna almost guarantee spit in your food? Show up at closing and expect to be seated and served.
There are plenty of other places open late at night. Go there.
Or, God forbid, try coming in when most other people do-- an hour or two earlier. Want to avoid the crowds? An hour before close, most restaurants'll be nice and calm because the rush is over-- you should get good service and your food pretty fast.

I used to love it when people did that shit. Another fav you didnt mention would be the person that calls and asks what video games you have in stock. Well gee there are around 600 titles so where do i start? Or when someone comes in a gets irate that you cannot price match wal-mart. Or when people come in just to tell you they went to wal-mart and got an item cheaper (and by cheaper i mean 3 cents).
I helped a lady once load a bicycle into her truck. I went into the back room and found rope to tie it down and spent a good 30 minutes just making sure it was secure. Lady says thanks and leaves. I get a call the next day because the lady called and complained that i had made one of the knots too tight for her to untie. She wanted me fired. And of course i got bitched at but not fired.
And one time i almost got caught in a lawsuit because a kid in a wheel chair couldnt get into my store because kroger (next door) had the handicap access ramp covered by shopping carts. Instead of asking me to help sit the wheel chair in the store the lady and son leave, then call and threaten to sue kb toys because I refused to let handicaps shop in my store.
Man i could go on and on. Most people are fukking assholes. But that's life.

theres so many frustrating moments working retail. i used to love getting yelled at because a particular product didnt work, like i made the fucking thing. and the whole price match concept bogels my mind. people always came up and said i saw such and such product cheaper somewhere else. then why didnt you just buy it when you looked at it. why waste the gas to buy it somewhere else at the same price. people just love to bitch.
dealing with the public sucks. most of the time people are so inconsiderate and rude it makes me sick. used to have people do that to us when I was assistant manager at a pizza place long ago. they'd stay forever after you closed. we'd even turn most of the lights off and music off and everything and the assholes would still hang around forever.
when I worked at The Bay during xmas years ago, in the xmas dept, I had people come and ask me aboot all sorts of other crap...

Why do people always ask me if I speak Spanish?

Its funny too, my store is made up of either Spanish or black people, and I'm like one of 3 Asians there...
I used to love the day after Thanksgiving. I worked an off-duty security job at a big department store. One of my duties was to unlock the doors and let customers in. As most are aware, these fools line up 2 hours before a store opens. I'd get attacked when I pulled up to work with them wanting in. I'd kindly let them know we open at X hour and not a minute sooner. Some would start their complaining so I'd make a mental note to unlock the door they were at last of the 3 doors I had to unlock and open.
The best part would be waiting by the doors a few minutes before opening time. People would start banging on the glass doors wanting in. When they saw me walking up to the doors, they'd get all excited thinking I was coming to open them. I'd just stand there and taunt them.
customer: hey, it's time to open, it's already 1 minute past X hour.
me: nah, my watch says 5 mins til, you'll have to wait.
Eventually I'd open up all the doors and listen to all the complaining. Whenever I got the obnoxious customer spewing profanity, I'd kindly pull him/her away and explain to them that I could arrest them for their stupid behavior. This usually just infuriated them more since they were being held up from getting to the door buster items before everyone else, lol.

Let's see..I'm currently standing atop the stool of death (it's one of those round, wheeled stepstools..and it has a massive crack around the bottom that makes it very unsteady), with a stack of games in my hand, which I'm currently putting away in proper alphabetical order.
I also have on a large neon green and black nametag that says "gamestop", with "Amber" directly beneath that.
I'm always really tempted to say "No, I don't work here".

I wish people would ask me that. When i go in to one of my client's sites to work on the systems i get dumbasses asking me all kinds of stupid questions just because i'm there...
LOL! I wore this orange t-shirt into Home Depot once. ONCE. It had this big white dog head on it. I had all kinds of people asking me where stuff was.

After a while, I had little sympathy for shoppers at Sam's Club.

"What kind of film do I need for this camera?"

"Hi, I need something from that pallet way up there, the one touching the ceiling."
"Sure, we'll get a forklift and block off these two aisles, spend twenty minutes getting it down, and piss off everyone else just so you don't have to bend down and pick one up from this pallet, right here on the floor."
"We're buying this 60" projection screen tv, do you think it will lay down and slide into the back of our late '70's Toyota mini truck with cap?"

Oddly enough, they wrote me up for being late on several occasions, but never for being a smartass.
My solution: Avoid customers.
Honestly though, I haven't really encountered anybody yet this year who's pissed me off. There's usually at least one a day.
EDIT - By "this year", I'm referring to "this season", as I only work at Christmas time.
