Maybe I should open a marble shop.
As a matter of fact, I still have quite a few marbles from years back. They make their way into my sculptures from time to time.
Made this guy almost 20 years ago.

And most recently, Shypappy's scorpion acquired a set of marble eyes.

those green ones would have made great cicada sculped eyes too Andy
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don't think I do have any marbles. When I was a kid, we had a ton of them just laying around the house. It was impossible to go anywhere without stumbling across a marble. My grandfather was a flea market junkie, pretty much, and had jars and jars of marbles that he'd accumulated over the years that he'd give to my sister and I. They eventually all got lost, or thrown away, or just sort of vanished mysteriously over the years. I doubt I could find a single one now.Quote:

However, I do have a number of beads that would be the right size, so I just plan on using one of those.
I miss my marbles
...all I ever did was look at them, compare them, and steal other kids'
I probably played, once
Marbles were much more fun when used with a wrist-rocket.
that would just about kill someone to hit them with a wrist rocket fired marble.....*runs to get wrist rocket*
wonder if I could shoot the small marbles out of my blow gun?!?!
Ben Wa Balls - the next big thing.

Way back when I was a wee lad (okay, wee-er than now) on the playground of formidable Catholic elementary school, marbles was a serious racket. Kids set up shop like an old Middle Eastern market with their impossible length shooting galleries scratched in the coarse sand barking out, "hit it you get a steely boulder!" (A fight once broke out when a kid hit it on his first try. The prize was an industrial size steel ball bearing. Needless to say, the owner was convinced to give it up!) Out further in the fields one could witness gaming youths challenging each other to one on one shoot outs. Marble cartels boomed and gang wars broke out over who had the most puries. Marbles were the bomb! By fourth grade it all but disappeared.
*sigh*
memories...
If this keeps up, marbles could be the next Texas Hold'em!
not me, I had to go out and hunt one down
