Where is Kit's underwear????? (Edit)

I was looking at the AG website, and I wanted to ask...why doesn't Kit have an underwear set?! I believe most of the historical dolls (other than Kaya) have underwear accessories, and even Molly (who comes after Kit chronologically) has an undergarment set. Why is this? Does Kit even come with panties in her Meet outfit? [img]confused.gif[/img] (I hope so!)

I'm just disappointed that Kit doesn't have an underwear set for two reasons:

1. I love the attention to detail in the AG dolls' clothing collection. Even getting Kit feedsack bloomers or long woolen underwear would be very cool, and historically speaking, it would make sense for her to have items like that. It just doesn't seem fair that other girls get to have interesting underwear (like shifts, petticoats, and slips) and Kit gets nothing at all.

2. I love historical fashion! That's one of the reasons why I like the historical dolls so much. It's fascinating to see what people wore "way back in the day," even when it comes to such mundane items like underwear.

But that's just my two cents...

I hope someone out there does know the reason why Kit doesn't have an underwear set...this question keeps gnawing at me. Otherwise, I'll probably resort to asking CS or a PS.

she does have panties in her meet outfit. As for the lack of underwear set, maybe it has something to do with living during the depression? Not sure, but maybe.

Excellent question and something I've wondered about. My Kit wears Molly underwear but she really ought to have her own.

About Kit's underwear set... I don't think she would have been too poor for underwear. [img]eek.gif[/img] Her family was already comfortably off while her dad still had his job, so I figure she would have had lots of nice clothes before that. Even the dolls whose characters didn't live luxurious lives (like Kirsten or Addy) have underwear sets.

I just wonder if Mattel figured that it wasn't neccessary for Kit to have any special undies, since these probably wouldn't be as popular or sellable as regular outfits. ??? [img]confused.gif[/img] [img]frown.gif[/img]

I hadn't thought of feedsack bloomers; she definitely should have a pair of those! Other than that, though, unless they wanted to give her long underwear, or a union suit, I don't think she really NEEDS them. I'm guessing the underwear aren't big sellers anyway, since you can't see them under the clothes.

I'm not sure that its because they were too poor. Extra feedsacks or anything like that could have been turned into underwear.

I know the dolls don't NEED underwear...(they don't really *need* clothes either, but that's a whole other story. But we dress 'em cuz we love 'em). [img]tongue.gif[/img]

All of the dolls that have the underwear sets are dolls that were introduced under Pleasant Company.

Kit was researched and developed by Mattel. I guess they think their dolls don't need extra undie sets.

Someone above said Kit's Meet outfit comes with panties. Not as interesting as feedsack undies, but it's better than nothing. [img]graemlins/hmmm.gif[/img]

Kit can wear Molly's undies, since they're so close in time.

I think the main reason is that they'd look ALOT like her meet undies, besides the print. Either that or they'd look just like Molly's undie set. Either way, it wouldn't be something that stands out enough to get people to say "I need that"

I am sure it is because she was introduced later and after they had already started discontinuign things and downsizing collections. If you notice, she has a much smaller collection to begin with than the original Pleasant Company girls.

I have longed for an undie set for Kit since she first came out. She needs feedsack undies. I think they could change the set enough for Kit. Mattel are you listening?
The undies sets are my favorite. And they make the outfits look so awesome.I definitely want to collect them all and maybe display them on my new dress form. I'm sad they just discontinued the today undie set.

You can still get the today undie set if you call the AGP's. I just ordered one a couple of weeks ago.
