Joni that is the one I have ordered
Sandi I have read that there was other bands of the same name so any I am interested in any Sister Morphine on recommendation
I didn't think much of the band that Joni Stars put the tracklist up for. Now... the Sister Morphine that had the songz like `Gypsies`, `No Mans Land` and `Turn Me Down` were fucking KILLER!!! VERY sleazy glam sounding ala Alleycat Scratch. Alwayz loved THAT Sister Morphine.

I'm 100% with by brother Andii on this one. The cd your ordered, in my opinion, isn't very good at all. However the Boston-based band that did the songs Andii referred to was very much in the vein of the first LA Guns cd, and was an absolutely killer band! Highly recommended!
Sandi
Which was the one with the singer that killed himself? Was that the one that sang Holiday Buffet? I used to own that cd, btw. Think I listened to it twice, then sold it. Totally didn't do it for me.
Well I'll have to be the one that disagrees with Sandi and Andii. I prefer the Sister Morphine that the tracklisting was given for. They were sleazier and rougher, like a cross between Spread Eagle and the Sea Hags. The other Sister Morphine that recorded Cut The Groove sounds more like Poison and Faster Pussycat to me.

the ONLY sister morphine worth anything song wise was the band with bernie edwards on vocals... the music was good but his attitude and overall rock frontman status was in my opinion the reason to see them live...
saw them with spiders n snakes and the mighty WASP...
they say he had the same disease dave lee roth had (lsd) though...
edwards used to play bass in a speed/death metal band called corrupt in the 80's out of detroit michigan by the way....
scary sick hateful death/speed shit if you're into that.

So does anyone have a copy of the other sister morphine they could do for me?
Midnight Angel,
Your preference is going to determine it. Obviously we have a lot of division here on this board, which is nice. It means we have a good variety of tastes represented. Skid and Slutty80 obviously like their rock a little harder edged. The Bernie Edwards SISTER MORPHINE is very sleazy, and Skid's comparison to Sea Hags is right on. They are very similar in style.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Sea Hags, and I don't like the Bernie Edwards version of the band at all. I'm not saying they are bad, I'm just saying that I'm a proud glamster. I like my music lightweight, very pop, and with as little attitude as possible. That's why I'll take Heart Throb Mob or Queeny Blast Pop any day of the week over Motley Crue. I like songs about bubblegum, high school proms, and rainbows. Skid's comparing the Boston Sister Morphine to Poison or Pussycat is also right on. They are very much into sing along choruses, and are a very commercial glam band.
In short, if you like your music harder edged and heavier, you'll like the Bernie Edwards lineup best. If you think Poison is THE shit, and the more pop a band is, the better, you'll like the Boston band much more...
Sandi
I own material from both bands...and I do have to say that the Boston Sister Morphine was the better outta the two. The other SM lacked in the songs...nothing was a stand out...in otherwords...after a listen to the full album, no song was remembered.
Boston's SM was sleazy glam which as mentioned sounded to me like early Alleycat Scratch.

I have ST original!
Fully agree with Raggz there. I didn't DISLIKE the Sister Morphine that the tracklist is up for, it was okay i guess but nothing stood out at all. I'm more into the glammier side of sleaze i guess lol, so the Boston band blew me away when i first heard that demo years ago.
BTW Lynsey... if you need a copy of that Boston Sister Morphine lemme know. I can maybe send it to you via yahoo messenger or something? Or email?
yeah that would be cool if you could do that for me Andii They have blocked all messengers at work but I have a gmail account you could send it to

thanks a million

edwards got sued by the 2 other members of the original 'sister morphine' from the twin cities... edwards however prevailed and retained the album and the name etc.
the article was written by jim (hack) meyer over
at the city pages... meyer did his best to make
edwards look as bad as posasible but the facts still came out.
john balmer (jaz - jasper st. john) and kc lynn (chris holcolm) tried tricking the city pages into printing ONLY their side but after 2 weeks edwards attorney's made city pages print artcile number 2 with the back-peddle and the re-tractions...
sister morphine is re-forming... with edwards on
vocals in the los angeles area...
stay tuned. coming soon.
cheers-
