I just received the Travel Gown which I purchased from eBay. The gown is lovely and all but to me it appears to be made from what I would consider "shower curtain" material. I was expecting a nice gauge cotton, not slinky material such as this. Is it just me or does anyone else find this type of material a huge disappointment. Felicity could wear this outfit in a rainstorm and not get wet.
This is an AG dress, not a homemade dress.
It might not be an orginal dress cause the one at AG made is not like that. You better have it checked out from AG. That does not sound right.

Should there be some sort of tag inside the dress eluding to the fact that it's AG. My dress doesn't have a tag. I purchased the gown on eBay using BIN. Now I'm wondering if perhaps I've been duped. And I just left "positive" feedback. Yikes!!
Actually, I turned this dress inside out and discovered an AG tag. I believe this dress to be real but I'm still disappointed in the material.
You're right. I got one from AGP this week and it does have a kinda stiff shiney type material. Like the material some Christmas bows are made from. Like if you poured water on it, it would just bead up and roll off.

This might be from the Madison Children's Museum Benefit sale. I remember I bought one of these there, and it felt like satin material. The tag was cut because it's from seconds or returns and Pleasant Co does not want you to return this to them. So I think you might still have the authentic AG item, just from returns or seconds. Did this set come with a mop cap? The mop cap should be made of a different material, very soft cotton I think.

Yes, the mop cap came with in addition to a hair ribbon and necklace. The mob cap is a very, very soft cotton. The dress is in perfect shape, etc. and there is an AG tag inside the backside of the dress, just a ways down from the Velcro closure strip.
Sounds like mine, and I bought mine from AG. I didn't really like the feel of the material either. But the embroidery and mob cap are cute.
I just read somewhere else that the material of that dress was very poor. It didn't go with the beautiful dress design.
Yep...I don't understand why AG used that yucky fabric. I sold mine last summer on eBay. Duh!!!
We also purchased the travel gown and red cape for my niece, and gave it to her for Christmas. It is her favorite Felicity outfit. She even likes it better than the Christmas gown, summer and spring gowns.
I have this dress and I like it a lot. The material doesn't feel like a raincoat or shower curtain to me. It's really pretty and looks nice on Lissie and I'm sure Susanna is dying to try it on too. I've had mine for several years so things could have changed. The necklace and mob cap are also very pretty!
I've also had mine for a few years, but I doubt they've changed. The fabric is indeed...different, and at first I didn't like it, but now I appreciate the variety it adds to Felicity's wardrobe.

When I first saw this outfit in the catalog, I totally thought it would be this heavy thick cotton material. I was totally shocked when it came, it's made of a material sort of like windbreakers are made of. I don't like the fabric much, but it is such a pretty color and design! Love how they have a choker for it too, looks so perfect with it.

The fabric is VERY incorrect historically, as nylon was still 150 years away. I was very disappointed in that aspect of it. I still think it's cute because it's one of my favorite colors and I love the embroidery. I think the best part about it is the mob cap.
