Sure, every now and then it goes quiet for a few days, but it's as dead as you want it to be. You get out what you put in, and then some.
i wouldn't say dead... but it is slow...

It's a flippin' MESSAGE BOARD, not a CHAT ROOM! I think some people mistake the two. I have numerous boards I go to that don't change for days.

Actually, we've gotten quite a few new folks around here lately, and I think it's about the same as it has been as far as post volume goes.
Like someone said, it comes and goes. It'll be dead for awhile, then pick up for awhile. As long as people keep checking back, and there are interesting topics to read, and respond to, then this board is just fine. I've also seen some that don't change a whole helluva lot, so it's all good here.......now if I could just get rid of the spyware on my computer!

True it IS alot more alive than most other boards, but back in the day, there was a strange comradery that justisn't there anymore. And we did lose alot of people when the old board left us.
It's okay though...yanno kinda like "getting by" by the mistakes: "seen lotsa people come and go, but I've got friends that are real i know"

Re the pink board: regardless of what speed I
get online, I too prefered the immediacy of
the old board. Although I suppose it's possible
to turn emoticons and 'graemlins' off, to speed
things up, but then that would defeat the purpose
of using one of these contraptions - which 'times
out' occasionally for no apparent reason. (Banner/
sponsor business? Don't know, don't care.)

Think thats the key with these ad aware/spybot etc progs you gotta run em pretty regular. Also advisable is putting your pc in safe mode whilst running em. Norten internet security is pretty good although it does slow ya pc down a bit. It not only identifies and cleans up probs but gives ya warnings when new stuff is about to be stuck on your pc.
Have had enough spyware/dialler issues recently to last a life time. Pc is all sorted now just running a little bit slow.

I didn't mention the name because everyone here who has been around awhile would know what I'm talking about. That was my way of discouraging discussion. My post was both a direct comment and a sardonic comment on the amount of guests. I know that there are people who are in that Sludge circuit who come here, and go to other boards as well, to lurk and then do some shoddy "detective work". Again, a lot of it happened in the background.
I only ever expected an invasion from Sludge several years ago,which there was to a degree, never a takeover, and certainly not now!
Listen, I've learned that if I am "private", I get shit. If I'm not so much, I get more, so I think I'll stick to the former.
I have had offline problems relating to the crap, and I know of cases where there were actual, real life confrontations. Carl, it not happening to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to someone else.
