they use it for fog machines at gigs.
we no longer use one, as it fucks up my lungs for aboot 3 days afterwards. kinda feels like a mild bronchitis.
damn hard to scream/sing when yer breathing that shit in.

I was watching the extra features on the Predator 2 SE DVD and didn't know that the fog on the Predator ship at the end was created using dry ice!

it's cool for fog effects, but it seems every time we've used one, the "sprayer" is set aboot 3' behind MY microphone. makes loads of sense, since our guitarist sings maybe 5% of our stuff, and I do the rest... [img]graemlins/hmmm.gif[/img]

and peeker, I dunno, I can understand why dry ice fucks with yer lungs, I cant recall if it has with mine, but I dont have shows to use it at [img]wink.gif[/img] I've just experimented with it a lil, but yeah, I can imagine it fucking with lungs if inhaled enough
It's used by airlines to keep food and cargo cool during long periods of travel. I have hold it, for some seconds, but is painfull and dangerous with long exposure. You can't store it with any living creature as it will drain oxygen.
Dry ice is just frozen CO2 (Carbon Dioxide).
The reason Peeks has trouble singing after breathing it in is that it's taking up the space in the lungs that OXYGEN is supposed to use!
We used to use it quite often to test the electronics where I work. It was fun to put a jagged piece of it on a metal table and hear it "scream".
