Ultimate Captain America? (In Progress)

Now are you going for Ultimate Captain America or a modern day Captain America?

The way you're describing it along with the picture don't make me think "Captain America the Superhero", they make me think "Captain America the soldier who fought for his country," I'll explain. It looks like just an everyday soldier that decided he was going to represent his country to the fullest. He adopted Cap's shield and uniform, but kept his army fatigues and standard equipment. He's not a "super-soldier," he's a dedicated one.

As for the rag, I personally think hair would be better. I don't know that rag just doesn't "feel" right. [img]confused.gif[/img]

Yeah i say hair, usually i nthe Ultimates it's kinda slicked back, but hey, you coudl go for the Cap from that "truth" series or whatever there was a few years back, and not need to change it!

Where did you get that shield?

Marvel Legends Ultimate Captain America.

I'm so into the Ultimates line right now, that I think my goal is to have my own "Ultimate" of each character.

A custom Thor would be fun... I'll likely use a combination of McFarlane parts like a Conan figure with some articulation like a Marvel Legends figure. I want each figure to 1) Look cool and 2) have cool articulation if possible.

Too many of the Marvel legends figures as-is are wonky looking.

The Marvel Select Ultimate Ironman just stands there like a scarecrow.... but If I can track down one of him, I've got a Baron-Karza-ish magnetic takara figure that would make a great donor skeleton and allow the ultimate in articulation, but I could swap heads and arms with the magnets so it would look like he "removed his armor". Now are you talking about like 'Ultimate Nightmare' comic set?

You (or anyone) have a reference pic of what you're trying to go for?

I have the trades at home that I could scan some pics of.

When he pays a visit to Thor in the NY Club, or goes to beat the ugly out of Henry Pym in Chicago, both times he has his Cap suit on, no mask, and is wearing loose army pants, boots, and an unbuttoned army jacket. I'm guessing either the sleves are short, or he has them pushed up because he has the jacket sleeves rolled.

I was thinking on making the headbandage into part of the mask, like he pulled part to show his real face.....

It's a tough choice, but I could go more semi-comic accurate like this...

Personally, I kinda like the head tassle thingees... like he ties his mask on or something.

I like that mask, but I prefer him with the short sleeve though.

edit: I agree... The white sleves have always looked kinda weird to me.

The location of the sleve cutoff makes sense regardless of how I paint the arms because of where the articulation cut line is.

When I saw you first pic I said that I didn't like the combo of blue shirt/camo pant but I must now change my mind.

I think the mask/shirt/camo pants work pretty well! [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

Mask and short sleeves are the way to go, IMO. I'm too sure about the tassle thingies though. [img]graemlins/thinking.gif[/img]

The last pic looks the best,but I think if you're going to leave the guns on you should ad a H harness.

That looks great. Try making the sleeves with rolled up cuffs, much like you see many marines have. Maybe some new weapons. Stars on the headband.

This is a photoshop rendition of the custom I'm working on. What do you think of the balance of Superhero versus standard military???

Personally, I like the idea of the bare arms and no mask... the chain mail on his body and the shield are all that's really needed for you to know who he is.

Do you think the blonde hair sticking out from under the head rag is enough to let you know that it's Steve Rogers?

I think the mix between blue shirt and kaki pants is a little weird. Maybe if it was "blue cammo" it could work.

as for the hair, to be quite frank I hadn't seen them before you pointed them out.

I also like the bare arms and face.

Personally, I think he would look better with his mask on but the rest looks good.

I think it looks great... except for the rag... but I agree the balance of his uniform with the standard military looks awesome... after all Cap is first and foremost a soldier...

i think the rag would look better blue...

although, doesn't leave much to the imagination as far as a secret identity goes.

I could easily carve off the rag and sculpt hair based on a few sketches from the Ultimates book.

I'm also debating on if he should carry the guns or not... I know he's used a gun on several occasions in the comic, but I wonder about him having it strapped on.... especially the "six shooter" that Al has.

I'll have to dig through my loose accessories and see what guns I have.

this should look fucking groovy once it's finished.

Why don't you try the captain am?rica look from the ultimates #1 when he's fighting the nazis. The one with the big helmet. He's kinda cool like that
