Songs for download (Help me here)

hello everyone, I'm new here...
Joni Starz has invited me to join this board...
well... I'm making something like a "mp3 server" where I'm putting some songs to download.

All you need to do is download this file: http://download.softpedia.com/softwa...mailfs_105.zip

Then you can transform your GMail account into a virtual disk.

Ok, when you install this go to "My Computer" and "GMail Drive"... then login

Login: hardrockin80s
Password: glammetal

The disk has a limit space of 1 GB

I'm uploading Stars From Mars 7-track demo right now...

Welcome to the board. Awesome idea! The only problem for me is that I use an Apple computer so I don't think it will work for me. I love Mac's but they can be a pain in the ass sometimes. [img]graemlins/cry_smile.gif[/img]

Okay seems like a good idea and I'm currently downloading Stars from Mars. I have a few questions:

-Is this like a shared drive for us all?
-Does it access my hard drive for files or only those I choose to upload?
-Who can delete and upload?
-How does it work??

A: yes, it is.

A: nope, it doesnt access yer hard drive, as it is shown like another hard-drive. you will only upload things you WANT to.
-Who can delete and upload?
A: Anyone can upload and delete it. but, PLEASE do not delete anything that aint yours.
-How does it work??
A: you simply have to drag-and-drop yer filez onto the Gmail Folder, if you want to upload. if you want to download, all you have to do is drag-and-drop to your hard-disk.

I too am adding to it. Hey I have more gmail invites if anyones interested just pm me your email addy. we could all do a gmail shared drive each and we could post an area where you can access the user names and a seperate "members" only site where you can get the password for each members drive and create a virtual sharing community. An idea if you will.

I will be adding a gmail drive for everyones use as well. Look for the info to come shortly, you'll have to PM for the password though and My messege to U about this drive we should keep the passwords to PM only lest some unscrupoulus individuals cruise this board...I can make a site where you REQUEST it and it is automatically emailed to you! I got lots of ides here but will they die? I don't know, I think I really am rambling here...Awesome idea (marky and I have talked about it before actually) and I just thought well. damnit rambling again...

Do I need a gmail acocunt first before I download this file on to my pc?

nope You can use this file without your own account. Gmail invites are FREE if you want one pm me and You shall recieve, Otherwise a Gmail account is not required to use this in the manner described!

okay chris i got another idea here:
we could upload a txt file with all the usernames and passwords to the main account (hardrockin80s).
no sites, no PM.
what about it?

here's a useful tip:
the GMail account doesnt accept large file names. try doing this:

make a new folder called "band". inside this folder, make another folder called "album" and a txt file with the tracklisting. rename the songs to 01.mp3, 02.mp3, etc. and type the song names on the txt file.

Given that the GMail account is 1 Gig, do we need a multitude of these? I'm just thinking it could get messy with all the different accounts, different formats etc and surely 1 Gig is ample for the meantime.

If need be, then we could add more. Agree though that there is maybe a need for a new area with a password which means that the lurkers and the freeloaders can't get our hard earned files without being a member of the Board - I THINK ITS ONLY FAIR.

What would also be nice would be to name the account something and maybe have it pinned here so that anyone who adds a file can update the pinned message? Just my thoughts. And I think the existing one needs a password change that we PM for.

i set this up this morning and it looks pretty cool. if you guys want anything off of me just give me a yell and i will put it up there for you.

i do have a suggestion though, being that it is basically uploading/downloading mp3s (and you know all about bands and record labels and whoever complaining about this practice) you might want to pass this by Spicey before you use the name glitzinet or in anyway relate the gmail account to glitzine or glitzinet. don't want to bring this board or the zine into any unwanted aggravation. Spice has worked too hard to keep this place afloat for anything to happen to it, ya know?

I tried to download the thing that was posted at the beginning of this thread, but it said it was inaccessable. Does somebody have to invite me?
If so, could someone?

look crefully under where it says the file is inaccessable, theres a tiny link at the bottom that says to try to download it from another site! Guys, it's looking good. I have a gmail account as well set up
the account is sleazerocker

and the password will be posted to the main site and joni will have it as well.

Have found the files inthe original set up. Obviously no one is using the Glitzinet one yet??!!!

To go along with what Bill said, we might also want to keep the info on what is being shared private also.

check the "accounts" text on the glitzinet one, it will tell you where else to find files from gmail if you are looking around...
