Hi guys does anyone know when his practice kit will be released? Remo said at first it was a prototype only made for him but then they decided to manufacture it. Any news anyone?

Hi,
I dont really know what the situation is in france but i enquired about one of these just under a year ago.
I was told to get one of these to the UK would cost me In the region of .....

?700 ..

What a waste of money.

I've heard worse than 700...When I last checked they estimated 999. When I asked in a drum shop here in Montreal, they said it would costs well into 1000. I must say I'd rather buy a normal set for that kind of money. We'll see what the price will be. The kit has so much potential! The mirror, the board to fasten pedals, stick holder, hi-hat pads. I hope it will be affordable.

Spoke to Thomas about this. It's being refined and built in a different country meaning by the time it's released over here in the UK, a basic version of the kit will be about ?200...

Either way, this practice kit is not as efficient as Thomas and Co would like to think.

You could buy a decent backup kit for that price!

Yeah, a lot of parts and price is very high too... but Thomas can afford it!

A better idea is to buy an electronic kit like the ROLAND TD-3, it's under $1K and has a metronome, rhythm coach and sounds!

Well,
It's absolutely portable. It all fits into a suitcase with wheels.

You can use any pedals you like.

The kit in the DVD had an overhead mic on it. What would be the point of demonstrating something if you can't hear it?

There is no contest between a Roland kit, but now that these have come down to around ?200.00, there is no question of a price similarity...

thomas sold me the prototypes. its a great kit. goes hand in hand with his some of his views on practice etc. i have gotten a lot better, QUICKER with this kit....dont we all want that.

drums are too fucking noisy....lots of practice can be done on this at ANY time of day or night rather than just an alotted time on the kit. i get sooo much more done. well worth it if u want to get BETTER rather than just play the drums. its not supposed to replicate a drum kit....

Cool that you get to play the prototype Palmer! How would you comment on its feel? Is there a big transition when going back to your acoustic set?

I am simply asking, because not all practice pads have "realistic" feel to them. Simply playing on single practice pad does not make much a difference to me, but playing on a complete set my be different. In particular, I'd like to know what the responsiveness of the bassdrum beater is like.

Suspiria, I know what you mean, this is why I'm holding back on an e-kit, as the feel seems so different to an acoustic one. However the TL Practise Kit is advertised as having one side of a pad similar in feel to the Remo Ammbassador, so it sounds good.

Btw, the last update from Thomas Lang's website was on the 10/10/04..

I guess you don't live on apartment, as i know none practice pad or mesh head can really be play at night ( which is my dream since yers [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] )
