Yes, I know...
Sadly, even for me, Real Life responsiblities come first, never mind the fact that there's a LOT of gear from more than one adventure to inventory anew here.
One thing I am sure of, if it is possible to get them identified quickly enough, and if the party was amedible, Kel would make the identification of the magic items they've collected priority #1 on any shopping spree.
I'm going to repost from another thread, the where loot from that evil adventuring group was taken before we visited the dwarves.
Remember, this was just who was holding onto what, not a give away per se.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Now, of all the stuff folks were carrying from that (That's not even counting the Dwarf King's gifts or the Bugbear loot) who wants to get rid of what? We'll put that in the pile to sell so to speak. Lir, for example, has two bows to choose from now and I am sure would be happy to either sell the extra or give it to Thaylias or something.Quote:
Fine? assuming everyone may split this among their steeds as well as they choose:
Magic stuff:
Okay, Mage scrolls, books and bracers go to Lir
Half Orc?s cloak goes to Kel (Who plans to try it out)
Cleric Scrolls go to Gralla
Lenses get passed around, but chiefly carried by Allie
Shanti gets to carry (or use) the red Cleric?s cloak
The fifteen potions will be split up as evenly as possible between the PCs numberwise each to carry a certain amount. I THINK There were five of us, so everyone should have 3 of those potions each.
NON Magical stuff:
Allie will carry thief?s tools, and silk rope (seems more useful to her)
Kel will carry master work studded leather, but not wear it for now. He?ll also carry the masterwork short bow (and use it)
Gralla will be handed Kel?s old short bow and some arrows in case she gets trapped behind a portcullis again (If you prefer a crossbow, see if Shanti will trade). She?ll get the red Cleric?s armor, morning star, and steel shield.
Lir will get Masterwork arrows and Long bow (even if he prefers the old one) and gets the bone tube
Shanti will be handed the crossbow and bolts.
Waterskins and food supplies will be used to supplement everyone and split evenly again.
Goldwise, everyone should get 200 gp each. The important thing is it is split fairly.
Kel would STRONGLY urge folks to make sure everyone in the party has some ranged attack weapon, especially after facing flying foes such as manticores and wyverns.
Kel plans to keep the masterwork short bow.
DM, is there anyway to find out in character (besides trial and error) to find out if the masterwork studded leather will ruin his spells more than his own leather armor? If it does, and he knows this, he'll sell it or offer it to someone else.
Both sets of Thieve's Tools Allie has are Masterwork, so the one will be given back to be resold. That's about all that she's carrying that's defined party treasure that isn't being used.
Three spellcasters, two at least of which can cast Identify, will be of help with finding out what we have as well, if obtaining the necessary pearls are cheaper than paying the merchant's fees to have them done.
There's also not that much left to identify.
Six of the potions were identified by the baroness' alchemist as 3 CMW and 3 Bear's Endurance.
That leaves the two black cloaks, and the lenses that I remember, and Allie's already got a basic guess about what the lenses are based on what they do even if she isn't absolutely certain yet...Bardic Lore.
Yeah, except I suspect it will be faster (even if more expensive) to have NPC do the Identifying since such could occur while the PCs are out shopping, dealing with Sol, etc. As the group has been told to 'hurry' by the Hamadryad, and dark omens abound my own thought was saving time was more important than saving money.
If it won't save time period, then yeah, the party could (and should)do it themselves.

Lirinor can ID all the items with a single day's spell preparations.
If Thay doesn't want his spare bow, he'll drop it in the pile.
If we spend any significant time in Talagon City, he'll want to spend some time learning what's in the spell book he got from that bad, bad mage.

Well, we're splitting hairs right now.
There's party treasure that can be sold and the funds split amongst the party. We as individuals can also sell items we own to bolster our personal wealth, and/or purchase. The DM wanted everyone's shopping list by Friday, which probably means we'll be on the road again after hearing what Sol has to say. As I write this comment it's Wednesday evening...49 hours till game time.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">True, the potions are checked out. Like I said, the above was a COPY of an earlier post.Quote:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, there are three unidentified cloaks... if you count the one from the Bugbear and the two from the above mentioned evil party. There is also, I believe, those gifts from the Dwarven King... though Kel asked about his item and was told much 'off panel', but it would still be nice to have those checked out as well. I am probably misremembering something to be fair.Quote:

On the mechanics side, it is good to have all the pluses and minuses in a row so our DM doesn't do all the work. On the role playing side, our characters have already expressed curiousity and I can't picture them ignoring these things forever.
Again, Kel thinks time is more valuable than money at this moment, and if a few hours can be saved by having this stuff identified by others at psuedo-reasonable rates, he is 100% for it.
So we missed an item, hmmm?
Well...I don't always remember which items you had identified or figured out, but there was a vest in an ogre lair in the faerie forest.
Lirinor was watching the horses that week, so he might have missed that . . . he'll go ahead and pick up an additional pearl for its ID.
The players may take as much time as the characters desire them to do, but everything short of fashioning custon items or making alterations and such can be done in a day.
All standard PHB items can be sold for 30% of list
All magical items can be sold for 50%
All gems or jewelry can be sold for eTools list +10%
If it is in the PHB and can be reasonably found in Talagon, you may get it at list price. Explosives, guns, Oriental weapons and exotic pets and steeds are NOT reasonable (even if they happen to have prices listed)
Kel's Blade is +1 with Ghost Touch (as per the rules)
The only magic cloaks you have found have been Cloak of Resistance +1, and there were three (would have been 4 but you burned one up). deduct 300 gf from your imventory for this info.
Let me know specifically if you want this done for Allie's goggles, or other items you may have forgotten to list (I can think of one in particular)
It will cost 100 gp per identify regardless of whether you pay someone to do it or do it yourself UNLESS you have a pearl in your own inventory. You will not ne able to sell them for more than you can buy them for, so do not use the above pricing to try to outsmart me.
The spell book can be used to research spells as per the Core Rules, I will send Lirinor the contents PM.
Any other questions, now is the time.
See you Friday
Is the studded leather armor you're talking about the one picked up from the loot outside the Dwarven kingdom? It registered as magical to a read magic spell, which is why it was kept, so is probably a +1...if it is magical then it'll net approximately 1000 gold, or around 150 if it's only an unenchanted MW.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Then in that case...it is a vest of escapeQuote:

I'm trying to think of what the party will NEED...it's hard to guess as we don't know ICly yet where we'll be going exactly or the terrain/climate we will be heading into.
How about at least a weeks worth of trail rations for party and some feed for our horses. I believe that will come under 30 gold.
True, Kel can hunt for their grub, but it still might be a good idea.
Good thoughts both.
Let's get everything else sold and split so anyone with personal needs can attend to them.
Well, no word from Gralla P or Shanti P. I think it is safe to say that for the most part, if it is magical we're keeping it. I actually had the studded leather listed as non magical... my mistake apparently.
Still going to sell it just to keep the hassle down.
EDIT:
And apologies, I can not find my D&D book and a lot of stuff is going on here with my friends going to Disney land so I'm watching pets etc. It's chaos in RL, so I am having trouble wrapping my head into the game.

Kel will go ahead and sell the masterwork studded leather and add the money to the group pile.
Totally forgot about the vest *sheepish*
I don't think the lenses need identified as their basic use seems figured out... but if others suggest otherwise let me know.

The Vest of Escape (unless the one mentioned above in this post is a different one) was part of the distribution for ownership that took place on 1/04/05 prior to us leaving CF to start the trip to Talagon.
Allie had that identified as part of her pre-trip preparations with Gertie. Remember too that after unwanted and unused party treasure is sold off for coin, that the remaining items from the dwarf killers still need to be distributed for ownership along with the gold.
Sorry, between helping my folks pack and trying to crunch numbers. Kel comes from a barter system, and his player can see the appeal
Definitely sold, with attempt at what we should get for them
One Master Work set of Thief?s tools (Worth 100 GP/ Sold: 30 Gold)
One Master Work Morning star taken from evil cleric (Worth: 308 GP/ Sold 92 Gold, 4 Silver)
One set Magic Masterwork Studded Leather (Worth 1000 GP(? Did I hear that right?)/Sold 500 (?))
One Shortbow (Worth 30 Gold/Sold 10 GP)
(Since Gralla, being a cleric, isn?t proficient with it anyways, much to Kel?s chagrin)
That should be 632 Gold pieces to play with
Minus the costs of Identification for cloaks
332 and 4 silver pieces
Should be about 55 gold and four silver each when split
I don?t know if Gralla wants to keep the better armor the red cleric was wearing, or his shield. I knew she wouldn't want the morning star because the dwarves gave her much better.
My bad for getting started so late.
I hope I got that right, and I'm sure I didn't.
The Silk Rope stays with Allie.
The crossbow stays with Shanti (Especially after her amazing use of it that one time)
And I'm assuming Thaylias keeps that longbow Lir handed him.
Kel would strongly hint that Gralla needs to buy a missile weapon and ammo she could use

I appreciate the suggestion, but since potions can be used by everyone, I'm going with them. While it is unlikely both Allie and Gralla would be out or unavailable at the same time, it's still possible so better safe than sorry and all that.
OK...To let you keep track, Allie still has six Cure Light Wounds potions in her inventory from the previous split. We've actually not used very many yet that I recall...Gralla used her magic to heal most injuries following the bugbear fight, and before that brawl most injuries had been light...even the Wyverns didn't do all that much PHYSICAL damage to anyone who made the poison saves.
They're party treasure, so be sure to include them in the next redistribution if you're going to try for even splits again.
Another item Allie's purchased, which I just got the OK concerning from the DM, is a wand of Detect Magic. None of the spellcasters will need to prepare that spell for quite some time - granted it's a 0 level spell, but still comes in rather useful.
Sorry, folks, completely forgot about all this.
Yes, Gralla will keep the armor from the red guy, and she is happy to sell MW morningstar and the short bow. (Or in other words, what Dramavictim surmised was correct.)
Shanti handed the healing potions she had gotten in the past to Thaylias, who seems to need them more, she is also more than happy to keep that crossbow Full agreement with how the treasure is being sold and divided btw!
On his own, Kel will reluctantly sell his +1 Battle Axe. The dwarven gift is superior after all, and besides he has plans.
This should give him 1155 GP to play with (half of 2310 if E tools isn't lying about its worth)
IF the priests of Sol are amendable, he will ask them to take 500 of his gold and use it to go help clear out the undead on Pluckeye hill to the north and help that farmer (For he feels Guilty about that despite thinking he did the right thing). If they want to hire some adventuring group to do it for them, he trusts them to know mens hearts better than most.
Even if they refuse the gold, he will tell them of pluckeye's undead situation as he said he would to the farmer and party.
Another 500 will be used to purchase healing potions (Which he'll plan on sharing with the party, of course) as many as it can get of maxim 'ommph'. He is well aware how quickly they can go through them.
That's if the DM gives approval/permission to that.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I spoke with Thaylias-P, who is having trouble posting here, and confirms he already has a better bow. Lirinor will just sell that one on the side.Quote:

Suggestions:
Scrolls of healing of various potencies cost 1/2 that of the equivalent potion and are as effective. Getting some of those will stretch Kel's money a bit if he's buying healing. Both Gralla and Allie (thanks to her Use Magic Device skill) can use divine scrolls.
If we're going to be going against undead, possibly vampires, some holy water (25 gp per flask) will be a big help. Gralla has a spell at her disposal to create her own holy water from normal water too. Among Allie's purchases, which I mailed already, are two flasks of holy water and a bag of silvered sling bullets.
