I know the song "don't think twice it's alright"
that's NOT the same song rookie. Go listen to it
it's not even close. it is better to be silent than to be wrong....ain't your momma ever told you
Out of the 50+ times i have seen social d play I have never heard them play "thats alright". I havent even heard a bootleg recording of them doing it. I wonder if it is the same song that I heard Elvis sing called thats alright.
also, I would have loved to see them play a song with Joan Jett. Truly one memorable moment that those lucky enough to see will never forget. Hopefully KoF will receive a fan photo or two.
It's actually a song they played a while back called "I'm ready for love". They just redid the song, kept the same lyrics, and added a california blues style to it... I guess. It sounds more dark and something you listen too while cruisin in your 51' merc. As for a cover song. I'm not sure. I though a while back, I heared it was a Bo Diddley cover, but looked for it and couldn't find it.
"bombsaway"
so this song is unavailable for consumers
to purchase?
what is your source, is it reliable?
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">You know what asshole? People here share information about various things with eachother all the time, but not in order to feed their overblown egos and distorted images of themselves. We are all like friends here, we do get into squabbles now and then, but we basically respect eachother. People who are truly intelligent and worthy of respect for that do not use it to make others feel inferior or use it as a weapon. Are you here to display that Texas-size chip you have on your shoulder? Do you really think you are that smart? Most who truly are usually are disfunctional in other areas to varying degrees. Please feel free to share those with us. I am sure the list will be long.Quote:

Bullshit. It is better to be wrong and LEARN something from someone, just like you just did from Wolfpits and Bombsaway. There is no ego in learning things, dickhead.

Mike always changes the lyrics on That's Alright. For example, the version I heard from when they played in St. Pete, says "I don't know but I've been told, Florida girls sure are cold, but that's alright".
DUDE, HAVE YOU HEARD THAT SONG BEFORE. "I'M READY FOR LOVE" HAS I BELIEVE ALL THE SOME LYRICS TO "IT'S ALRIGHT". THE SONG WAS RELEASED ON A COUPLE OF BOOTLEGS LIKE "OUTTA THE GUTTER" OR I THINK "THE MIKE NESS MONSTER" BOOTLEG. i HAVE SONG. TELL ME HOW TO LOAD IT AND I'LL SEND IT TO YA.
If it does get loaded, I would like a copy
The song is "its alright" not "thats alright"; its one of the new songs they debuted on the 3rd round of the tour. I don't have a copy, but it has a line in it that goes something like this "we did it in the bathroom, we did it in the hall, I got some on my fingers, I wiped it on the wall, but its alright" Seriously...those were the lyrics the last time I heard them play live. Also, I've never heard SocialD play any songs from the Mike Ness solo albums, so its probably not "don't think twice, its alright"

YEAH, THAT ALSO TRUE. HE DOES THAT TO ACCOMMODATE THE PEOPLE TO WHOM HE PLAYING TO. FOR EXAMPLE, HE WAS IN FLORIDA. HENCE THE CHANGE IN LYRICS. BUT I NOTICE AGAIN A FEW CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE ORIGINAL. BUT KINDA STILL THE SAME STYLE OF BLUE SONG, THE SAME CHORD BUT,IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL IF THEY ADDED HARP TO IT. THAT WOULD REALLY HAVE KICKED ASS.
sandrenash....agree- never have heard any of the solo stuff @ the sd shows. I did hear the song
at the starland ballroom which was round 2 around these parts....so you say it's a new song then..
It's not "don't think twice" for sure.
babyblue71......take some meds brother...way too thought out, write a psychology book
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">This is the way I write. You don't like it, too bad. Could you have just simply said "No, I am referring to something else" instead of being a complete asshole and insulting me? I thought that was the song you were referring to. Meds, haha. I would really be something if I needed them.Quote:

My car is dark blue actually. The babylue thing is from way back in the early 80's. It's kinda stupid actually. My friend helped me dye my hair blue because we were going to a show, and my hair is naturally blonde, but it was like white-blonde back then. Anyway, the dye did not take very well, and it turned out babyblue. I went to a Circle Jerks show looking like an easter egg.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">I heard this one with those same lyrics here in Virginia back in Feb. If anyone has a copy I would love it, I've been trying to find out what it was ever since. Contact me at Wow! I have been waiting for someone to mention this song. By the way I'm somewhat new here, mostly I just read and rarely post...been a SD fan for about 13 years now! Love this site!!! Check it every morning for new posts. Thanks to everyone!Quote:

A while back, someone posted a link to the entire St. Pete's show, including this song. I downloaded it and burned it to a cd, which I don't have with me right now (I'm at work)...it may still be available, I don't know.
I also have another version of the song on a bootleg of the House of Blues show 1/11/04, which I do have with me. If someone will tell me how to make it available, I'd be happy to do so, as long as it wouldn't take me too long. I do have to at least pretend like I'm working!
The sound quality's not the best on either of them, but you can at least get the general idea.
Joan Jett is cool
They played it early in the tour in Seattle. Cool song. Definitley a live tune though, dont think it belongs on a studio recording.
joan jett go buy some boobs!

Last night at the show in New Haven, Mike invited Joan Jett to play guitar with him and the band. They played 'That's alright.' It was amazing to watch them play together. Two true legends of punk/rock n roll.
please tell me if "that's alright" is an original or a cover and how old the song is.
It's actually just an old blues number that Mike has arranged to make his own. That is from Brent, BTW ...

Well whatever it was, I loved it at the show!
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Wow, that would have been soooo awesome to see! I bet he was lovin' every minute of that since it seems he has been a long time fan! I wonder why he picked that song to play with her? I mean it does jam out for some time, but it's a total dude song, if ya know the words? I guess as long as she just played and not sang. Still that would have been something to see...Quote:

Hopefully the "It's Alright" thread will answer some questions about the song. Here's the link: It's Alright
I was at the New Haven show too. My first Social D show, definitely not the last. Started off with 3 or 4 older songs (1945, Sick Boy, etc) then a nice mix of tracks off the new album. I really liked the live arrangement of Prisonbound with a long piano intro.
Brent was awesome, seems like he fits right in?looked like he was having a blast singing along to Ring of Fire off mike.
Does anyone know if there is anywhere that archives setlists?
Joan Jett was great with Social D and played with the Eyeliners as well.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Hootenany 2003 Social Distortion sang "Long Black Veil" from one of his solo recordings.Quote:

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">He did the same thing at the San Diego shows in March. He was singing the lyrics and was totally rockin out, but was no where near his microphone. I loved it. I remember thinking "They definitely have to keep this guy."Quote:

Ha ha, please direct your debates over the lyrics, origin, and title of "It's Alright" to another thread as this "controversy" arises every couple of months.
Joan Jett and Social D - that is a great team-up. Must have been a highlight of the show.

Hey - my first post! I was at the New Haven show, I was right up front taking the blows and bashing some heads of those trying to smash my spot.
Joan was awesome. I don't know the tune - to me it was more of a jam. It was priceless at the end - Joan made a face like she just had sex with Mike. It was that good and they were both that hot.
here is a pic of the scene - enjoy:

Welcome HotRodScott! Thanks for posting the picture. That's awesome.
Private Hell, thank you kindly for sending both versions of the song to me.
Here's a thought...you guys remember that Shiloh chick a few months back? I think she lives in that area. Poor Mike. He probably had to lock himself in the tour bus after the show. (Just kidding)

I have a bunch of other pictures from the show - as soon as I figure out how to get them posted here. I was right up front.
I did notice a couple of crazy chicks there. A great time was had by all of course.
