I WANT KIT!

Is it okay if I throw a temper tantrum here? I want Kit so bad and I'm having the hardest time waiting. I'm a grown woman for crying out loud and I feel like a 2 year old who was told she couldn't have any candy. My DH told me no more spending money at AG BUT he just doesn't understand how much I love these dolls!!!

I got Jess back in June for my bday from my mother and my dh and kids gave me her other things but for some reason I'm just not content!

I went and started reading all the AG stories to my dd. We check them out of the library and read them at night. Well I checked out Kit's books and fell hard for her. I just love her! I want her and her whole collection to come live at my house!

I need a plan ladies.......should I just start buying her outfits here and there and hope that my DH will buy her for me for Christmas. Or should I just tuck a little money away each month until I have enough to buy her? I'm a SAHM but I do have a small part time job at the YMCA......so I do make a little money each month. My husband just doesn't understand this new hobby of mine. He's definately more of a saver and I'm the spender.

I just needed to vent.........now I feel a little better! Any words of wisdom would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Carrie (fellow Ohioan!) I'll post so you can see my triple Kit family in my avatar--you can tell DH he should be glad you only want one Kit and that some crazy lady online has 3 of them! (one is DD's but two are definitely mine!) Good luck!

I understand. I am a SAHM too and work part-time at a craft store. I want Kit too, but I want Emily even more. My fiance said I could have her, until i verified the price with him, now's he's not quite sure. His b-day is later this month and whatever he spends on himself for his b-day, he has to be willing to spend the same amount on me for my birthday next month. I struck a deal with him and siad I wouldn't buy any more fabric for a while as a way to save up for her, and he's okay with that (what he doesn't know is that Mom is sending me a wal-mart gift card fo rmy birthday so I can buy fabric there - I love their $1/$2 a yard fabric adn it's the only place I can find jersey material).
So, anyways, my suggestion is to put some money aside to get her yourself. She'll be a reward for controlling yourself (we all that is not an easy task).

I feel your pain! I just started collecting last year and now I have 4 dolls. Dh just really doesn't know what to make of it all...I can tell. I received Jess from my mom for my birthday in July, and she also gave me enough spending money that I purchased #24. Dh doesn't say anything negative to me about it, but he just kind of half-smiles and says "She's nice," anytime I bring home a new doll...end of discussion. He's also the saver in the family, and he thinks AG is way overpriced, so that doesn't help either.

I also started checking out all the Historical books from the library this summer, and after reading Kit's stories I want her too! I'm sort of hoping she'll end up under the Christmas tree, but I'm very doubtful. My plan is to save up a little money each month, and then use any money I may get for Christmas to purchase her. I'm trying to collect Felicity's outfits right now, so Kit's will have to wait. It might help curb the longing you now have to get some of her clothes until you have enough money to actually get her. Good Luck! I hope your Kit comes home to you soon! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Hey that's right! I knew there was someone else around here with two Kits, aren't they too cool?

Oh I love it.......women who feel my pain! Yippee.......I'm not crazy after all! Thanks for responding to my whiny post!

MaryEllen you and I sound like we are in the same boat with our DH. He pretty much has the same reaction. He is not real thrilled with them but is tolerating it!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">At least we can commiserate with one another!

This may be a plan for you to consider--

Since we've all learned the awesome news that Kit is getting a movie (yippie!) you might want to try to start saving extra $$ now, so that assuming AG follows it's past patterns, you can get the 2 best friends collection of Kit and hopefully Ruthie whenever the movie comes out. In the meantime, you could buy a Kit outfit or accessory item when they are on monthly special or have extra spending money. Then you'll already have a nice assortment of Kit items whenever you do get her.

If not, then you could always hope for Christmas...

I have Kit and I will say that I adore her. I completely understand how you could want to add her to your collection asap. I'm sincerely hope she gets to join your family sooner rather than later :-)

Katie

Kit Kat and Tari........I'm jealous! 3 Kit dolls in one house and 2 in another!!! DH would shoot me if I started getting duplicates!

Someday I will get my one and ONLY Kit! I'm going to start making my wish list and sticking it in my DH underwear drawer, briefcase, desk, etc.....We have an anniversary in Sept so maybe he would get me my Kit doll instead of a fancy dinner and flowers. I'm going to start leaving some serious hints.....LOL!

Hey Gomunk.........thanks for the advice and the offer to make Halloween costumes from my other post. I really need to make some more money to pay for all my doll wishes!

Katie.....thanks for the advice too! I think I am going to start buying some of Kit's accessories. I already have her retired waffle iron and I bought her camera last month when it was on special. I'd like to get her typewriter before AG changes it to some cheap plastic version. I am planning on making my Jess doll into Kit's friend Ruthie but I'm sure if they actually come out with a real Ruthie doll next year, then I'll be getting her. Some ebay sellers make some beautiful outfits from the 1930's & 40's that would look cute on Jess/Ruthie.
I'm just going to have to be patient....which is hard for me.......thanks for your input!

A woman after my own heart!

I had a great deal of Kit's collection before I actually got my beloved Kit! She is SO worth the wait. She really is.I have two now, Kit and Margaret.

AND- I have a Jess that is Ruthie too! She looks so beautiful in that stlye of clothing! IMO, She is a perfect Ruthie until AG gives us an "offical" Ruthie doll. Even then, if they make her look all wrong, Jess will keep her place as Ruthie.

Kit is absolutely irresistible after you read her stories, isn't she? I love the Kit books.

We have serious Kit-longing here as well. DD wants Kit (which is keeping me from getting her now-- I may get my own later but I want DD's to be the first Kit in our house so she gets to have her special doll).

We've told her she has to be eight to get one of the dolls (after all, the catalog says for girls 8 and up) but really she's going to get her for her 7th birthday in the spring. We are surprising her with a trip to AGP-- she'll get the plane tickets on her birthday and we leave the next day. It's going to be a great mother daughter trip and I so don't want to wait!

I got Kit's meet outfit for girls on ebay and she's going to get that to wear to AGP when she picks out her Kit, but tonight she was saying she wants to be Kit for Halloween. I'm trying to convince her to wait till next year (first off, the outfit would be a bit too big for her now and second, I am supposed to wait till her birthday). DH will not budge on the waiting for her birthday and I know he is right-- her birthday is within days of Kit's so we are going to be at AGP for Kit's birthday celebration and that will be so special for her. But I keep trying to manufacture excuses to do the trip early.

Sorry-- back to the topic at hand. I would set a little aside each month and start buidling your Kit fund. I would also look around for anything you can sell on ebay. I found a couple of things I was willing to part with in exchange for AG spending money. The first sold for $60 and the other is up to $50 with several days to go. If you have any outgrown Gymboree clothes from your kids, that has good resale value. I'm surprised what old collectibles and toys can sell for.

Anyway, it helps me feel like I am actively making progress toward my goal. I also took some baby stuff to a local consignment shop and get to pick up a small check tomorrow. Every little bit helps. I'm planning to go to MCM next year so every time I get cash I put a little into my MCM fund. It's much easier to manage $5 or $10 a week than $100 all at once. One final idea-- collect all the loose change in the house! DH always dumps the coins in his pocket at the end of the day. About a year ago I collected all the change from the various places he leaves it in the house and discoverd I had over $100! All those pennies add up eventually.

Good luck!

I know that feeling! Recently I made up want lists to help spend my AG money on what I want the most, and it makes me realize how much I still want even though I've decided to pass on Jess. I have 11 dolls and I still want more! I still want Kaya, Josefina, Emily, 15, 21, 26 and then there's the Bitties...They're almost like potato chips, lol.

When the "gimmies" get too much, I come up with something fun to do with my exsisting dolls to remind me of how great the girls I already have are. And then they don't mind as much getting a new sister when the money does come in.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I have to agree with this method. My Fiance does the same thing, and I stash the change to use on fabric for doll clothes. I usually only use the silver coins, and put the pennies in thier own little jar and i'll count and wrap them when it's full. I learned the "spare change" lesson right after my ex-husband and I got married, his parents gave us a 5 gallon water jug full of spare change, and there was almost $500, enough for us to pay our security deposit on our first place. The only catch was that we had to count it.

I received Kit as a Christmas present after begging my parents for a doll. She is just the cutest thing ever. I wuv her. At this point, though, I would start saving up so you could get the Best Friends collection and all the other new goodies.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL, my daughter thought I was crazy when I won my 2nd one from eBay. But when I got my new Kit from AG, her hair just didn't seem right, too short! At least I thought--she's the middle one in my avatar. So I found a beautiful one on eBay that had that "Kit" look that I'd grown so used to. I had grown to love my AG Kit and couldn't have sent her back. So we like to pose them together because each one does look just a little bit different! (sheesh I can't type-2 edits for silly typos!)

Yes, Anna it was because of your beautiful Kit rooms that I got the urge to know more about her. So I checked all her books out of the library and wouldn't ya know.......fell hard for Kit!!!!

I'm getting ready to use that $10 code and I think the first outfit I'm going to purchase is her work outfit........love the overalls!!! When I was 10 years old I had a pair of overalls that I loved wearing. I'm also going to get her typewriter. A few things each month and then hopefully Kit will be under the tree come Christmas morning. I told Lydia to tell Daddy that is what I want.....so with both of us pestering him it might happen!

Thanks muppetquilter for all your ideas! I'm going to have to go add up all the change lying around....lol

I would love to go the Madison sale next year and I'm really working on DH to take a vacation to WI next summer. I think it's possible and we would stop at AGPC for my dd 8th bday. Her bday is in July and I'm taking her there next year no matter what!

Your dd will look so cute all dressed up like Kit. What a fun memories you are making with your family!

My DH is pretty much the same way he thinks it's silly for me to spend for dolls for myself , fortunately for me My DD is the only girl of our for children and is the family princess and my hubby doesn't care what the cost to make her happy so all the things I buy are for Her (at least that's what I tell him) Well he did buy me a Kit so I could play with Mandy unfortunately I had wanted Kirsten as Mandy already had Kit (I posted this last year at xmas) I didn't have the heart to tell him as he was really proud of himself (of course you can guess the kids couldn't wait to tell him )There is however a point to my babbling, would it be easier to convince him that DD needs a new doll???

I have Kit! I don't blame you for wanting Kit so badly! She's one of my favorites!

Your husband could be my husbands twin. They just don't understand. I have been saving for Jess and may have to have a garage sale and/or put some stuff on ebay to get her. It is so discouraging as we could probably afford her, he is just so cheap. Sigh.

OK, so here is my plan. Just pick up your telephone, and dial AG, then order Kit, your top 3 outfits, and top 2 accessories. Might I suggest, her tree house outfit and Red's outfit (since I have heard they are in danger of retirement). I would also get her Christmas dress as it is beautiful! Then I would get her school supplies and typewriter.

Next, pick up the phone and call AGPC and order her waffle iron from a PS there!

You NEED these items now! Then when the box comes in ENJOY! Think about the money later and save up bits along the way once the bill comes in !!!!

Yes, I'm bad, but you NEED Kit, right?!

*Order Kit* *Order Kit* *Order Kit* *Order Kit* *Order Kit*

I got Kit the other day (see my signature pic) and I love her! I ordered mine from ag.com and she has the soft, squishable vinyl. Her hair seems shorter than other people's Kits I see on here, but it could be because its still new and sticks up some. She's really adorable, though.

I justified buying her instead of Emily. Emily just doesn't do anything for me, so I am just going to buy Emily's outfits for Kit and Molly to share.

Stephanie.

I drove my family (mostly my husband) crazy until I got the Kit of my dreams!! She is beautiful and so much fun to play with! You have to have a Kit!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh she is a cutie! Emily doesn't do much for me either........she looks just like Felicity and we already have her. Kit will be mine someday. I'm working on my dh so hopefully for Christmas. I am going to be a few outfits for her over the next couple of months though!
