So, I’m still going through some stuff right now but I came back just to share some good news that all of us, especially me desperately needed.

Team Hostboard has finally responded and yes, the old forum can be restored! It will take time though. This week has been a nightmare for me but at the very least, the forum that I’ve come to use as an escape and comfort for years now is not lost.

Any elaboration on why it poofed in the first place? Like it got swept up in a maintenance cycle.
Or just a template reply: "Thank you for bringing this to our intention. We will process your request to restore <Forum name> in the order it was recieved."
I haven't heard anything from them, but XP was still technically the owner of the board and his account randomly signed in on March 21 for the first time in years. DHH was managing it and he hadn't signed in since sometime last year (I want to say 8-9 months ago). Both signed in late on March 21 and the board got deleted. Either they decided to do that with no warning (doubtful) or both of their accounts got hacked. I honestly think it's the second one as both accounts have continued signing in over the past few days and they're not actually doing anything.Quote:

They're slow about simple things, so I'm not counting on it being anytime soon. If you go look at the administrative board where they said they would reconstruct it, that forum is overrun by a bot account posting nonsense daily and they haven't bothered cleaning that up.Quote:

I don't think they can manage that. They can't even whitelist the words cunt / pussy an adult forum. If I understand correctly, the backup will soon no longer be available. Then it's over. It's just good that we have fights.sexy as a backup. This forum here is also endangered because the whole administrative area is broken.
I think we should give it at least until a full month has passed to start getting worried. It might just be wishful thinking on my part but I don’t think that the backups work the way you’re implying they do. The admin said that they have 30 days of backups. I believe that they meant that their backups go back 30 days. Not that they expire in 30 days. Even if that’s not the case, they said that the first thing they would do is make copies of the DB. Other users here have also said that they’ve been archiving stories themselves. Not all hope is lost.Quote:
