Okay, so I promised you yesterday an article about guild wars, so here it goes.
You start the game with a character generation(see later) and after you made your hero you jump in the quests of the world. Your first quest is to learn the primary skills of your class.
The character generation looks simple, but if you want the perfect appearance for your character you can spend half an hour, and maybe you'll start again.
You can choose from 6 professions(every profession has different hair/face styles!)
First you must choose a primary profession which can be: warrior, necromancer, elementalist, ranger, monk, mesme r.
(I guess I don't have to mention every profession has different skills/spells)
There are tons of offensive/defensive/cure/curse spells and skills.
Next you have to make your character's appearance(F/E take a look at Hyper's character) and choose a name with a first name and a family(? ) name.
After you've done it you're in the game and what you notice first it has an AWESOME style and mood. People from different countries play and have fun together(F/E one plays and air guitar, the next dances, the third sits on the ground and watch the show ^_^)
So a few words about classes
Warrior: Same as in all games, the "tank" in all team, it has 3 weapon skill type(+2 more skill type:strength, tactic) which are: sword, axe and hammer. First I made this but after a day it was boring, but it's really cool combined with f/e necromancer or elementalist
Necromancer: My favourite. It almost unbeatable if you spend lotsa points to blood magic(it has 5 skill type as well). With Blood magic it can steal health from enemies and transfer it to himself ^_^(really useful)
Imo you should take it combined with elementalist
Elementalist: Hyper's fave imo. It can be cool, because it has lotsa destructive spells, but a little weak against melee fighters. (5 skill type too. Water, fire, air magic, magic container and 1 more XD) I recommend this profession with maybe ranger or monk(because its healing techniques)
Ranger: It can has a cute tiger like big cat as its pet or anything you would like(but it must be an animal, not a monster). Usually attack from behind so it's profitable for groups who wants a back defender. Its pet will go forward, so it's good for single play as well. I recommend it combined with necromancer, elementalist or monk
Monk: To tell the truth I never tried it out, but I like it, cause in one mission with my necro/elementalist character I died a couple of times and his resurrection skill came handy. It has lotsa healing spells and I guess maybe protective prayers. It can be good combined with fighter, ranger,or elementalist
Mesmer: It operates with the power of mind, kind of illusionalist. Never tried it out either, but I guess it can be good if you combine it with elementalist, ranger,or necromancer.
So these are the 6 professions, and if you want you'll stay with one profession or you can take a second one in a quest. If you don't take a second imo you'll loose lotsa fun. You can go to trainers which can train you. If you want their training they'll give you 2 more skills, but you'll need them in the quest they ask for their service.
That's what I can think now, but if you have questions I(and Hyper I guess ^_^)'ll answer it gladly ^_^
Edit: Hyper warned me to post your pics Xel ^_^

Okay, I typed in the professions from Pete's manual, which is at my place right now. ^_^
Elementalist
Elementalists summon the powers of earth, air, fire and water and command them at will. they can inflict more damage in a single strike than any other professions. Earth magic summons quakes and eruptions, encases enemies in stone, or protects allies Air magic harnesses the power of tempests to strike foes down with lightning or enable allies to run like the wind. Fire magic manifests flames, fireballs, molten lava and even meteors to burn enemies to a crisp. Water magic conjures mist and ice to slow enemy movement and attacks, blur vision, protect allies against magic, and inflict cold damage on enemies.Elementalist have access to Energy regenerating skills, and when chosen as a primary character, they can increase their maximum Energy over time. The wise elementalist avoid becoming surrounded, but keeps a local area-of-.effect spell on hand just in case.
Mesmer
Mesmers are masters of illusion and control, subverting the enemy?s Energy for their own use, and that of their allies. Cpombined with any profession, their skills provide excellent support, turning the enemies? power against them and changing the very fabric of reality to hinder foes and help allies. Mesmers have the ability to cast spells quickly, which can make all the difference in the heat of battle. their powers of domination allow them, to take control of enemy skills and Energy. Their unique illusionary talents can slow or even halt enemy movement and skill casting, or cause imaginary illnesses that drain Health and Energyfrom foes while healing or energising allies. While mesmers are not known for brute strenght, their ability to confuse, distract and drain the enemy?s recourses more than compensates.
Monk
Monks employ a direct conduit to the gods, and the answeres to their prayers come in the form of healing and protection for their allies and damage to their enemies. Combined with any other profession, Monks casn alternate between supporting their party and dealing damage to opponents. Monks enjoy Divine favour, which provides extra healing power, while their healing and Protection Prayers help to keep their alleis strong and healthy. Smiting Prayers, on the other hand, call down divine anger on enemies, exacting holy damage that ignores armour, though damage dealing is not the Monk?s speciality. What Monks lack in firepower they make up for with their unparalelled gift for keeping their allies alive.
Necromancer
Necromancers are the masters of the dark arts, calling on the spirits of the dead and even death itself, to overpower enemies and assist allies. In sacrifising Health and taking courses and diseases upon themselves, they can deal large amounts of damage to those foolish enough to oppose them. Dead and dying enemies become unwilling allies in their hands. Necromancers have the singular ability to absorb Energy from an enemy?s death, and can raise a fighting force from the corpses of their foes. curses, which often costs the Necromancer dearly, exact an even greater toll from enemies, who find that their Enchantments and healing skills are rendered useless. Due to the sacrifical nature of their methods Necromancers must practice patience and self-discipline to survive.
Ranger
Rangers are unique in their ability to suceed with the help of, or even in spite of their environment. Nature rituals allow them to manipulate the environment to hinder their enemies, or borrow the very power of creation to heal and aid their allies. they favour long-range combat, the bow being their weapon of choice, and can be especially efective from elevated locations such as bridges or cliffs. They are the only profession with the ability to charm animals, which then acompany them on their travels and assist them in battle, gaining expirience and levels over time. Rangers are also blessed with survival skills that help keep them alive.
Warrior
Warriors rely on stout hearts, brute strength and melee weapons to subdue their enemies and protect their allies. They generally disdain long-range warfare, preferring instead to charge directly into the fray, swinging their weapon of choice. they can take a beating unlike anyone else. Warriors are equally comfortable wielding axe, hammer or sword, though many choose to master one weapon over all others. Many warrior skills require adrenaline, which builds up during combat to enable those skills, and usually results in a major damage. Defensive tactics help the Warrior to avoid damage and protect allies, but Strenght is the Warrior?s biggest asset, allowing this hero to do more damage with every attack.
Took me an hour XD Enjoy.

Cool. I'll be getting it soemtime this week, probably Mesmer/ranger (Melikey the aristocratic look of Mesmer)
Bah. That's the girliest you can get the guys? Pfft, screw that.
-
Surely you could have just linked us to the website?
-
-
Note: That was only written down in the Guide, about Professions you can find only this on the website. Powarz ^^
-
Eh, it looks fun, and is supposedly rather short, so it'll be nice game to play every once in awhile, since it's free.
-
It's not so short at all, really. The story is long for me, but if it's not, still there are many options how you can vary the professions.
-
Not the story. It's level cap is 20.
-
yeah, it's low level, but you can always start over or help less level chars or something
-
Like I said: Short
-
LOL. It's still enjoyable. I just helped a level 1 warrior who wanted to be a monk as well with my 7 level ranger/elementalist. It was fun ^_^
-
*Sigh* Never said it wasn't fun. I wouldn't buy it if I didn't think it was. Just said it's short, compared to other MMORPGs.
-
Btw anyone interested in the games besides Xel and Hyper?
-
I played the beta ages ago. It was fun, but not the best. It's still good though and i do recommend it to those whom don't have so much money.
-
Btw if you would have money you would enjoy other MMO-s, I'm sure. Enough complaining, let's play XD
-
[Lurks] This thread is getting strange
-
Pete scanned in some pages from the manual involving the professions:
Elementalist
Mesmer
Monk
Necromancer
Ranger

I know that. But as I said it's perfect for me, because I don't have much money.
-
I wouldn't find joy in any other MMOs... this is pretty as it is. I don't compare it to anything.
-
Blast it!
I never said it wasn't for you -.-
Geez... acting as if what I apply to me applies to you people too -.-
-
Lol, you're a leader type person.
-
Lol, I heard at least 4 member of us have/will have gw. That's good. Xel, Rowantree, Hyper and me. Anyone else I should know about? XD
-
I've got an elemntalist/mesmer. Once my friend gets on, I'll start a ranger.
-
I want my Elementalist/Ranger Christine Ice!! But on my pc :3
-
-
I have orderd i get it on friday or thursday.
-
I now have a lvl 7 Necro/Elementalist, 6 Elementalist/Mesmer, and a 3 Ranger/Monk.
Yeah. That's where I've been this weekend, if you were wondering >>;
-
You won't see me around much either, I'll only start an Elementalist/Necro, and when I'm stuck/finished (wonder when) with that, I may start a new char. But who knows.
-
for me level 8 necro/elementalist, level 8 ranger/elementalist and my friend has a level 7 warrior/elementalist. And still can't do fully the north wall quest(Idiot high level charrs).
-
Started my pretty Snowfall Christine, haven't stood up from comp at all today XD. Okay, not really.
-
Btw, other countries can play with eachother.
-
yea, but I'm not sure if America and Europe can or nope, but 1 thing is sure. Germans captured every fuckin city. I wanna kill em. All I can see is: was ist das? Brauchts du.... etcetc
-
Yes, they can. Ignoringt hat I've seen: The Hall of Heroes.... in Europe's favor. About 10x now, it's in the manual.
-
I saw some kind of internaitonal district, have you tried that out Xel? If yeah, what is it? And where's the hall of heroes?

Oaky, so here're some improvements what'll take place at the weekend
PvP Arenas: We?re changing the way PvP Arenas work to provide players with more variety. Previously, each Arena had a separate outpost. When you joined an Arena, you would continue playing on that same map repeatedly until you lost. In the upcoming build, many different Arenas will share a common outpost. When you enter Arena combat, each game will take place on a different map, with different victory conditions. To keep winning, you?ll need to master each of the different maps. Note that there will be different outposts for Randomly-Matched Arenas and Team Arenas.
Gold Storage: You can now store gold in your account storage vault! The vault can store up to 1000 platinum pieces. Individual characters will now be able to hold a maximum of 100 platinum pieces.
Veteran Maps: Entering ?The Underworld? will now cost 1 platinum piece, the same as entering ?The Fissure of Woe." Rewards in both of these maps have been significantly improved.
Quest Improvements: We?re adding new quests in ?The Fissure of Woe? and Post-Searing Ascalon, and updating many of the quests in Pre-Searing Ascalon to make it more straightforward for players to gain entrance to the Academy.
Difficulty and Loot: There will also be numerous small tweaks to monster difficulty and loot distribution throughout many of the existing missions and explorable areas.
Item Scarcity: We are fixing problems which caused excessive scarcity for Fur Squares, Linen, and Silk. All of these will be significantly more common.
PvP Character Templates: We will be retiring some old PvP character templates and rotating in some new ones, including three new templates created by guilds that won our April contest. These changes will only affect newly-created characters, not existing characters that were created with one of the retired templates.
