I love the new Hanoi album, well apart from reggae rocker (would have been better as a B side!!), as fas as I'm considered it's a great album!
Carl,u can send me $10, and it's urs. Never wanna hear it again in my life. And will not be paying the next one. They've raped the 'holy' (to me)Hanoi name.Nuff said. And that's MY opinion, tha.

The Devil in You-euuugh!
O.K. little lady, you got a deal. Ian was cool enough to send me the tunes through email, and I actually find that I like the album VERY much. I find it sounding very much in the same style as the songs that made up "Self Destruction", which has always been my favorite Hanoi release. Yeah, yeah, I call "Mystery City" the king of the Glam albums, but something about SDB actually makes it my fave album of theirs.
As for that "Reggae Rocker" tune, it might be an odd song, but there is no doubt that is either written by Connie, or that is the effect of his being in the band. That dang thing is pure Connie, and I actually LOVE the tune.
So yes, I will take you up on your offer. Drop me a line as to where to send the money. I don't have your addy anymore. I should really save these things...
"Reggae Rocker" i think is the best thing i've heard so far from Hanoi of both of the new albums. Call ma crazy, which i'm sure a lot of you will. But that seems to be more towards the Hanoi i luved.
I have to agree with Sherri.. it's a horrible album, not Hano? Rocks anymore.
You folk that dislike the new one, how do you feel about Self Destruction Blues? This new one has more of the things that were "trademark Hanoi" than anything that was on 12 Shots, such as more Andy guitar work and backing vocals. Some of these songs could fit right in on SDB and there would be no way you could tell it is a different band.
Plus, for the most part, Mike sounds like Mike again and not some Punk idiot. That is aside from the first song, which is standard modern-Monroe.

NEW ALBUM IS GOOD, BUT I THINK "12 SHOTS" BLOWS IT AWAY,........, I THINK I LIKE THIS MORE DIRTY AND KIND OF ANGRY HANOI, THE NEW CD STARTS THIS WAY BUT KIND OF MELLOWS OUT.......BUT ANYWAYS MARKY THANX FOR THE LINK, I WILL PUT TOGETHER A STARS UNDERGOUND ZIP FILE FOR YA WITH ALL SONGS AND THE GRAPHICS TO GO ALONG WITH IT
But that was part of the problem I kind of thought with "12 Shots", as to me, Hanoi was never an "angry" band, and the anger they showed was more of a spoiled brat rock star who was dillusional about his own past. This new one seems to be more in line with what classic Hanoi was all about, adapting styles and turning them into their own style of RnR. Much in the way Cooper used to do it, and is starting to do it again.
very true, but i still liked it, the old hanoi is great, maybe i gotta listen to the new cd more
Carl, to answer your question, I can't find the spirit, the guts that were on "SDB" or any other old Hanoi Rocks album on this one and even on the previous one. It all sounds more like Michael Monroe solo albums to me.
My friend Franckie (probably one of the biggest Hanoi Rocks fan in the world!) wrote a review that sums up my opinion too.
Hanoi Rocks review
I kind of feel this one steps away from Monroe's solo outings. I personally don't like his solo stuff at all, and always found it lacking. The last "Hanoi" album was like that for me also. But this time out, the Andy presence is felt again. I also find more hooks with this one.
I would like to read more of Franckie's thoughts though, as the review was rather brief. I mainly got out of it that he just didn't like it and had better things to do than talk about it. Which might be EXACTLY what he was trying to get across.
I think I might end up lumping this one in with Two Steps as to not understanding why other Hanoi fans dislike the album. Since you Laur have always seemed to be a gentleman of fine musical tastes (and have listened to many of your recommendations such as when I first bought Scritt Scrat on your sites word), I will chalk this one up to something on in the ear on both parties. I hear the old Hanoi life, and that is what I like about it. You don't hear it, and that is what you dislike about it. Odd, isn't it?
Never:
I think this is one that down the road, as time has passed, many of the people that hated it might find something to enjoy about it. I think right now there is frustration with it. I was crushed by the last one and really disliked it, so this was a step in a different direction, and I had no real hopes for it at all. I can see how if you liked (or loved) the last one, this might be a negative album for you.
Ach, but what do I know?
GREG, SEEMS YA GOT MY UPLOAD, NO THANXXX WERE NEEDED!!!

Carl, yeah but to tell you the truth I've felt weird about this Hanoi Rocks reunion from the start so maybe i'm biased about it. I tried to listen to the new one again but still can't find what i liked in this band : (
I don't know, sometimes it's hard to explain why you like or don't like a song or an album, especially when it's a band you've liked for so long.
<font size="4" face="Arial">I remember you saying that this one was better than "TWELVE SHOTS ON THE ROCKS" when u listenned the three songs in advance...Quote:

This album has to be one of the biggest pilez of crap ever it soundz like they just threw a load of b-sidez together for the sake of a tour, I'm only glad I downloaded it rather than forked out cash for it.
