Things I noticed whilst watching SWIII

First of all, I really enjoyed the movie for what it was...escapist sci-fi fun. I think Lucas did a fairly good job of connecting it to the original trilogy. I'm no Star Wars purist so it goes no deeper than that.

However, I did note a few interesting details.

Did anybody else notice the Millennium Falcon in the lower right screen during the first space port docking scene?

Was it just me or did that look like an embroidered "Greedo" head on the chest of Padame's pajamas?

When Obi-Wan buggered out of the Jedi building during the purge...didn't his spaceship look like a modified WWII P-40 Warhawk?

Do Jedis have a fetish for taking off an opponent's hands? I counted at least 5 hands lopped off in the major light sabre duels.

Are battle droids the most useless piece of military hardware ever developed in the SW universe? Or are they just PC targets?

Speaking of battle droids, what's with the corny dialogue between those two droids when dealing with R2-D2? Battle droids have personalities?

General Grievous had a cough? What piece of biological material was there left in him to generate a cough?

The number one saving grace of this movie was that Jar Jar had no speaking role! (unless I blanked it out of my mind)

#1 Jar Jar rules.
#2 Greedo-jammies...I could see that.
#3 Battle Droids DO have personalities, in some cases.
#4 Jar Jar rules.
#5 taking an opponents hands takes them out of the fight without killing them.

I noticed the Millenium Falcon the second time I saw the movie. Since it was near the bottom of the screen, it was likely behind someone's head the first time I saw it.

I've always accepted those droids as the cheapest, most expendable, form of combat droid. Especially since Sideous only has them constructed to create a reason to implement the Clone army. As for their goofy personalities.... It seems that MOST of the Star Wars droids have some kind of humor programming IE. R2-D2, C3PO, the mouse droids, etc.

Greivous was the head and torso of an alien inside of that cyborg armor... The prototype version of Darth Vader if you will. I was told that in the Clone Wars cartoons Mace Windu crushes Greivous' rib cage armor with the force.

C3PO makes sense since he is a protocol droid and such and I consider R2-D2 an exception. But battle droids? They're basically drones. Why waste personality on drones. It seemed too corny to me...well, outside the usual corn in a SW movie. [img]wink.gif[/img]

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
Also, it seems that for the ARC 170 some WWII Aircraft ideas were borrowed and used for the cockpit and turret windows. Lots of glass, and you could easily replace the engines with props as the wing shape is very 1940s. I kept thinking B-25 meets Starfighter or something...

Yes, by far the greatest "improvement" to the movie was no Jar-Jar or kiddie-type characters. It was a lot more serious and thats what works. Someone said that instead of having had Dooku they should have continued with darth Maul as a main bad guy. Yep, no question. But I have no complaints -- as Andy said it was great entertainment and thats all I wanted.

in the first two movies the droids really didnt have much personality even though they spoke a little bit. i took there much more advanced personality in episode 3 as the droids were being more sophisticated and the makers were trying to make them more human so that they would be stronger in battle.

and yes grievous had his lung crushed so thats whats up with the cough

Yes, it was the first thing I noticed in that scene. It's weird our attention is drawn to such a small thing.

I'd say both, except they did kill lots of clones and jedi, so I don't know how worried about being PC they were.

I thought the droid voices and dialogue were extremely disappointing. Upgrades, maybe?

He did still have a chest cavity, and I believe most of his head was still biological apart from the shell.

that totaly depends what BD your talking about.

The first one: The reguler one that always says " roger roger"..yes those are very useles.

The second one with blast shiled: those are a really though nut to crack..so an army of those I wouldent mind having.

The third one, Super Battle Droid from the arena in Ep2; well they have bigger firepower then the first one and bigger armor but they are still powerful since thei have a very rapid firey gun on the right arm.

so they are not that useless they are just beeing used ..usslesly as their purpos is..

Did you notice that on the platform where the recently rescued Palpatine is greeted by Windu, 3CPO is with other protocal droids but that have female bodies?

Porthos, did you watch EPI in English or French? I'm curious if the translated version made Jar Jar seem a lot less annoying.

I saw it both in french and in english and the translation was very well done wich mean he was annoying in french too.

But it didn't bug me enough to to make me hate the movie. In fact, technically speaking (music, editing pacing, ect..) and storywise I think EP1 is the best of the new trilogy. Ep2 and 3 are confusing and the dialogues sucks wich prevent the movies to actually bring tension up and make us believe in Anakin turning to the Dark Side.

the one thing i was happy with was that the emperor alludes to the fact that anakin was created by the sith. cuz i was really bugged by that whole 'im jesus born of a virgin thing'.

I noticed that too - when he mentions that his master could create life. It's the little things like that that I liked.
