I had an idea the other day (actually I stole it from another group I'm part of, see details below [img]wink.gif[/img] )
Basically the proposal is this:
I get one of my vintage cameras cleaned up and ready to go, and we send it around the country/world to each person involved. They keep it for a week or two, and shoot a roll or two of film of whatever they want. Take the best couple of shots and either email me JPEGs or send the photos to me for scanning. Then pass the camera on to the next on the list. I'll put up a webpage with everybody's shots as we go.

and after the recent activity on the photo album thead, and a couple of off board discussions of pictures, it occurred to me that it might be fun to see what this group could do.

The Argus C-3 is a neat camera.
Between 1939-1967 they sold nearly 2 million of them. Basic enough that pretty much anyone can take good photos, they also have the capabilites to do fairly advanced photography. I will incude a basic set of directions, and will be glad to offer any additional assistance needed.
So what I'd like to see is a post from anyone who wants to try this. If it looks like there's a reasonable interest, then we'll figure out a good route (so the camera spends more time being played with than sitting in postal trucks. [img]wink.gif[/img]

That is a super cool idea. I'm going to pass for now, though. I know I'm notorious for my procastination (I still need to send crazy his pics back) and think I'd take too long to do my part. I might change my mind, though. We'll see.

Now we just need to find a way to combine Dan's group project Ersby's. The one that he's sending is one of those really old ones, where I think it's possible to take two pictures on the same frame of film. Anyone up for taking picture of auras, souls, or ghosts?
Double exposures are cool, I have a few pictures like that.
Intentional double exposures are cool, accidental ones are usually just annoying. [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]
and yes, you can do them very easily with a C-3
I could participate without the camera. I could just take my own pics with my camera and send them in, if that still qualifies? That way, nobody would have to worry about sending me a camera and getting it returned.
I'm in though, although I am sure my pictures would not be as exciting as some of the really creative people here.

Seriously, I'd guess that most people have responded (if anyone still wants in, let me know) So I will be contacting a few to get your location, and then work out a tentative route.
The camera is nearly ready to go. I discovered a problem with the lens that I'd forgotten about, so swapped it with a good one. I just need to do a couple of tests to get it perfect. This should only take a few days (if it will stop raining [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img] )

It's a fantastic idea. [img]smile.gif[/img] . I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to send my own camera on a trip like this though. I'd miss it too much. If you're actually willing to trust me with yours, I'd love to play.

Besides which, the old ones, like what he's sending out, are more mechanical then electronic, and so, generally easier to fix. With the exception of certain parts that can't be bought or made anymore, of course...
Dan just a question , is said camera black and white only or color?

hoestly Jax I have no clue, and thats why I'm asking....I to suffer blond moments.
I'm guessing here, but I'm pretty sure the camera in question will shoot any kind of 35mm film, color or black and white.
And I'm posting this in order to prevent Dan doing a Calvin's Dadesque post about how the world used to be black and white, but gradually change back in the sixties to color, and that's why all the old pictures are black and white... they were color pictures of a time when the world was black and white.

but yes, once again my lovely and talented assistant is correct. You can use any sort of 35mm film in the camera. Color prints, slides, Black & White, Infared...
so whats up with this anyway?
Sorry for the delay. The camera was being troublesome. (It's probably good enough to send off, but I'm really picky about these things, so ...) and then I've been sick for the past week, so nothing has moved forward. Hopefully will get going again in the next few days.
