I just gotta ask....
Having just heard the 'Not Guilty' verdict on all counts here in NZ I just wondered how all of you in the US felt about the case overall?
Just curious - I have no strong feelings but having spoken to a friend in LA, he'e been saying the media coverage has been INSANE.

I respect the guy as a performer/songwriter/singer, but the thing about sleeping in a bed with kids NOT your own just does not sit right.
Yes it's been in the news spotlight for months.
did he do anything other then sleep in a bed with minors? who knows, I mean he lies about having cosmetic surgery to lighten his skin and fix his nose.......

I'll say this: Having 'Child Molestation Trial' attached to your name does not do wonders for record sales; guilty or not guilty. I think the Jackson team did their job in mudding up the waters, so I guess we may never know if he was guilty or not.
I'm definitely not an expert on the subject, but if he is guilty most likely he'll follow the pattern of most SOs and do it again.

Personally, I think the whole thing is 'bad'.
The whole court case was a 'thriller' to a lot of people and totally 'off the wall' for others.
I still don't think the case is completely 'black or white'. I mean, he may be innocent or just a 'smooth criminal' who got away with it. Only he knows if he looks at the 'man in the mirror' and can live with himself. What was that kids name that he was accused of sleeping with anyway,. 'Ben'? Did he really tell him to 'beat it'? Anyway, looks like he was given 'one more chance', so maybe he'll invite ben over again just to tell him 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' .

The guy shares the bed with a child for a year straight, in the absence of an adult partner...I was angry he wasn't found guilty.

i am relived and pleased jackson was found not guilty....if only people would leave him alone.
I disagree. If you've ever served on a jury, you'll understand that the subtleties may be beyond the abilities of some of the jurors to understand. You don't need a triple digit IQ for jury duty. I believe we're all entitled to an opinion. Do you believe OJ was innocent? Or don't you have an opinion on the matter?
If he'd been found guilty, I heard that Michael had requested that his lawyer's make sure that he served his time in "Juvie".
I agree with Randy, the man is / was a good songwriter, singer and performer. I still love the album Thriller and Bad. But I consider it at least strange that after a previous "incident" he is still sleeping with kids. Doesn't it make him innocent / stupid / guilty or all? Especially with so much money involved you are an easy target and he should have known better. I have two children myself and I will never let them sleep in someone's bed with that person next to them. I read in the Dutch newspaper that they will introduce a tracing system for convicted people in these kind of molestation (word from CNN) or worse cases in New York and also, Jeb Bush seems to have legalized a law for it? It's tough but I totally agree with it although I got these opinions since I have kids. Sorry for taking this point of view, but I love my kids and want to protect them as much as I can.

I don't know wether to judge if he's been molestating these kids or not. To me, it's not a concern that keeps me occupied most of the day.
I do however find MJ's mind completely divided into to two worlds, you can hear this guy talk about music, politics, history, economy and religion like he's a professor. When it comes to Children and Childhood he becomes a totally different person. To be grown up as a star, where you have no time alone, no time to wonder about things, no child friends out of family etc. I sure find it normal to have a pretty wierd mind about specific things.
I attended the 1997 Concert in Copenhagen. I was sleeping outside in 2 days to come up in the front - and i must say, to this day, that concert was the most inspiring and thrilling concert i've ever seen. His dance moves are so musical he controls the arrangement of the tune like a big band drummer controls a big band, with pure sheer musical choreography( Mispell?).
The following concert, i didn't had the opurtunity to go, but a good girlfriend from my class was in backstage because she was a part of the "Heal the world show" were he's walking with kids on stage.
She talked with him backstage and told him about me, drumming and Dancing ( I was pretty much into his dance moves too ). He told her that it was very important for me listening to his Thriller album, because the best influence to drumming comes from that album, it was the album that out from a drumming perspective satisfy him the most. He ended with " Get everything with Jeff Porcaro on ".
She'd even brought back an autograph for me!
Go buy the Michael Jackson Collection Box, and put on the Dangerous Tour DVD, and you'll forget about all this media freak-show and just surrender yourself to the greatest show on earth.
I'm very supportive about Michael, but even if he was guilty i dont't know what to think. It happens alot today, some adults are =()/"#?=(/)"#? Insane, take a look at developing countries like India, Indonesia, Burma etc. Child-prostitution is the only way out of a doomed life as a poor rural family.
I guess my perspective will change when/if i have kids myself.
I'm a big MJ fan, his music, the musicians he hires, there he's a God for me !!!

I am not surprised this topic would be started, so I'll add my thoughts. I was also amazed at the amount of media coverage this trial received. In an attempt to really understand what is going on I actually did a lot of reading from many sources that were not out to start rumors but cover solid facts.
It soon became very clear to me that the accusing family (mother and children) is desperate for money, wants to get a piece of Jackson's cake, and in my opinion, needs serious help. As I read yesterday out of roughly 140 witnesses, maybe 3 or 4 were said to be credible! From the on I knew that he would set free.
What's important now is this:
Jackson MUST keep his mouth shut about the issue and let it die. No more comments about children needing more love.
And the accusing lawyer...what a creepy guy. I must admit that I was thrilled since he was humiliated and suffered a huge defeat.
I really hope the public accepts the verdict and there will be no more questions. The accusing family managed to ruin this man's life.

Being found "not guilty" in a court of law does not mean he's innocent. It only means that the prosecution wasn't able to convince the jurors beyond a reasonable doubt.
I love Michael Jackson the musician, dancer, and entertainer. But he's a very troubled individual.
In his mind he's a curious 11 or 12 year old boy that likes to do boy things, but also happens to be homosexual.
This won't change anything. He'll just have his guests sign release forms.
I say we put the stupid parents on trial.
Of course, none of us really know...but man, the circumstancial doesn't look good AT ALL. But no one should ever be convicted on this, just the facts of EVIDENCE only.
What I find puzzling is that the average peep cannot differentiate a person's talent or work from something such as this. IOWs, there are somne people who are so enamored w MJ's music, fame, fortune, & personna/image, that they would have that fact blind them to some obvious observances: that this 'man-child' is in need of some real psychiatric therapy.
Do you see him? He's starting to resemble Jack Nicholson's Joker character in the 'first' Michael Keaton Batman movie. I mean, we poke a little fun at the 80s glam-girlie-posers w all the hair & make-up, why is MJ afforded the exemption? Seriously, folks, when need for attention & success gets to the point that you try drastically to alter your heritage & your physical features [i said, drastically], not to mention tons of makeup, that it is quite obv that there are some real issues at work here.
It's obv to me the man has been out of his tree for quite a while. And we're not talking about your normal "diversity" or "differences" between people, here. I mean, just LOOK at him. They don't call him Whacko Jacko for nothing. Does that make him a CM? No, but....MJ, care for kids the proper way, via the setting up of or involvement in programs, tutelage, & other healthy things; not the way he's been dong it.
Because this behavior is sure to bring out the golddiggers also...MJ, change your MO.
It's obvious to me he's an emotionally repressed or troubled individual. And i too liked much of his music. But he needs help.

A guy like J Cochran may very well be one of those in the long line at the entrance to hell. Just an educated observation. He's a full o BS arsehole who knows the loopholes in the law, AWA that the average jury member can easily be swayed by courtroom acrobats & spin - sorry, JMHO over the years. I bet he doesn't have OJ in the morning with his breakfast...he appears the type of guy that $$ obv takes precedent over justice. That is a bad, slippery slope for ALL OF US. Allwoing injustice anywhere is an affront to justice EVERYWHERE.
MJ's dodged another bullet. Let's see what he does with it this time. Time will tell...just rem, no one is is guilty until proven; but likewise, people shouldn't make allowances for the famous or wealthy actors, musicians, & "entertainers" [DiOrio, Holdsworth, & Scott Henderson's FAVE word! [img]wink.gif[/img] ], that just because of this fact or that they aare great at what they do & have found favor in the publics' eye, that they are neceesrily exempt from anything because of this fact. He is going to be watched closely...

Again, his involvement with children in general is what concerns me as a parent. Yes, I believe there to be golddiggers going after MJ, but MJ did it to himself.
By way of a settlement in 2 previous accusations, instead of fighting he chose to pay it off and make it go away.
It seemed at that time he was guilty since investigators went as far in taking pictures of a certain area that was described in detail by the accuser. Hard to fight that one.
This could go on for days, who knows the full truth, but as a 'normal' parent, why would you put your child in that type of situation anyway.

Jeppe, what i meant by that is, we snicker at all the 80s big hair posers & the mullett heads, yet no one seems to want to point out how bizarre MJ has altered his appearance...& then lied to the public media time & time again about it. It's one thing to get a surgery for something & then downplay it or deny it, it is quite another thing when it's obv you've had multiples of tens or more & continue to deny it. Just rem also, "good" lawyers these days also know how to work the system to try to get it to their vantage point - the Almighty........dollar.

And my thought was just that I think that people HAVE spent much time on his appearance (and understandably so!). I just reached a point -personally- where it didn't make sense to point anymore bandaid wrapped fingers (!!) at that poor man.
When I put on my MJ records, I believe him to be the greatest pop genius ever. Even far beyond other favorites of mine incl. Prince.

just from what i've learned from studying criminal psychology. Which will apply even more here as this is a big case, with big opportunities for the lawyers to become more "respected" and to win big money.
1. It is the lawyers and the judge who pick the jury.
2. Most lawyers, not all, but most, care only about winning wether or not they are serving justice. Because if they really were, lawyers that knew their clients were guilty wouldn't defend them.
3. In ideal world, the jury would be made up of equally mixed race, age, sex, religion and location etc But since lawyers only care about winning so they can have more "wins" on their name increasing chance of being hired and winning more money, a lawyer is likely to pick jury members after interviewing them, whom he feels will be "on his side". e.g. If the prosection is against say a young african-american male, he will be more likely to pick someone who already has a prejudice or a stereotype of african-americans that favours the prosection, such as the typeical 80 year old femaly lady who still sees african americans as inferior or whatever (i'm not racist, but it's just the example that was given to me in criminal psychology today)
So there we have it, personally, purely from sources like T.V interviews, the internet, and past experiences i thought he was guilty. But that golddigger thing is also perfectly believable and makes a lot of sense too.
anyways just my 2 cents, even jury aren't just! The heart of Justice is in fact not even the heart of justice!
P.S i just wrote about this because these facts could very easily help explain why he was found not guilty, if people thought he was guilty or vice-versa!
also please do correct me if i'm wrong in any of this, i accept that, and i'm happy to embrace corrections!

If he were truly innocent, the way he conducted himself should have been radically modified when the FIRST kid cried molestation! Mike couldn't be that naive in his thinking to think that he's not at risk for someone to take advantage of his celebrity stature.

As for releases, it would only apply to a civil action. In a criminal action, the plaintiff is the state (or nation). An individual doesn't have the authority to waive the state's rights.

I agree MJ is most likely guilty and has an addictive personality for young boys. This appears to be more like an appetite. Those involved with sexual additions, especially abnormal, seem to change very little. In fact, the addition worsens as the guilt increases. It is like a hopeless drug addiction or even smoking. It is not rational! It is a deep abnormal appetite that craves satisfaction. How many are on lung respirators looking for a chance to have another smoke? The body craves.
After listening to so many juror post interviews, it is very sad to hear the line of reasoning to find this individual innocent. It seems clear to me?very clear?that there are MANY people that cannot see past fame. In short, it is idolatry.
As a school teacher, working with 9-10 year olds for many years now, there is a clear line you never cross physically. I NEVER am alone in a classroom with kids without the door open?NEVER. In fact, I position myself behind a desk against the wall with the student(s) doing a task like taking a bulletin board down. If it is after school, the child always has to have parent permission and I make sure they check back with their parent every 30 minutes by phone to let them know what?s up and when they will be going home.
To think of a parent allowing their child?even in their teens?to sleep with a man of late 30-s or early 40?s?IN HIS BED?is so far across healthy boundaries is beyond reason. WHO ARE THESE PARENTS? It seems Michael chose?preyed?towards the right parents?weak, no strong father figure, emotionally unstable?and this is why he got his foot in the open door. Then, top it off with a fantasy land for a home, fame, riches, the reputation of a celebrity (How could a famous person be wrong?everyone would know it right?) and you can break the guard of a parent. This is an easy thing to do?and do it often.
I just don?t see and hear a healthy adult male when I see and hear MJ interviewed over the past twenty years. He appears very divorced from real life, living in his own fantasy world of reality that puts children in some type of love and sensual way to bring him satisfaction?that Peter Pan complex thing he admits to having. He does seem to be living in a reality at around the age of 12-15. I wonder what happened to have him seal this time period in to his heart and mind. I call it a Dorothy complex, ?No place like home, no place like home.? We all want to go to a place we feel safe and in control. If this guy as a kid was torn into being a superstar and a product, it is no wonder he might want to go back to a period that was safe. His life is totally abnormal. He might have been one of the most prodigious child talents ever! His ability to perform at a very young age is nothing short of spectacular. The saddest thing of all is the possibility of his father pimping his own son to the mass market, using his own flesh and blood as a way to become___________? It sure seems that way and is common practice with Hollywood parents.
MJ unfortunately seems to have a desire for young males and uses his means to manipulate (maybe like the way he felt his father manipulated him as a child?sins of the father???) parents for their children, and manipulate the young teens into a sort of freakish sensual sleepover party.
Very sad bottom line?Sexual additive personalities very rarely change with time, especially when they don?t believe they are doing anything wrong. Extremely so when they believe they are actually helping and loving others by their actions. I see MJ in this last stage of denial here. He really thinks he is loving others by his acts. That?s SCARY!
Yep, agree PP, totally agree. Wow I couldn't do your job, teachers are heroes! In our nation, males are petrified to apply for teaching jobs, for fear of being prosectuted unfairly by 'the system.'
The whole misplaced love thing seems to be MJ's entire world, from childhood up. He must be such a fragile character in every way imaginable.

Surely you're not going to sit there & tell me there are no "seedy lawyers" out there...but perhaps you are of the opin that JC wasn't 1 of them...I differ completely. & you AW are enitled to state your opin. But pls do us a favor & back it up, no "drive by shooting" statements pls.

No off...I realize it wasn't Cochran, but the jury, who acquitted OJ, but in my mind's eye, it just would not be poss for me to defend someone i even remotely thought was guilty of such a heinous crime. & JC's MO for many yrs has seen the rep of just this more than once...
The jury members, the climate of the times...on a similar side note, while we're here, I equate it to the rodney king fiasco. The guy had a rap sheet ALA your arm, & led the cops on a wild chase at hi speeds endangering innocent civilians...so they shave him up, cut his do, give him the J-curl/sheen treatment, put him in a suit, & tried to sell the race card...AND then the media AWA others tried to equate his situation w that poor innocent bystander R Dennie fellow who had nothing to do w the scenario, who had his HEAD STOMPED WITH A CINDER BLOCK by mob mentality started by these types of miscarriage, for NO other reason than having to work his job, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is BULLSH**, in a nutshell. I dont care what color RK was, he could've been purple w pink polka-dots for all i care...playing the race card when it's not applicable is an affront to my convictions. When it comes to justice, the system is not supposed to 'see color,' unless in the end it's clearly racism supported by facts & evidence.
Oh well, sorry, just the facts ma'am.

I can't say w 100% assurity that MJ is guilty of this partic crime...but I'm not silly, starry-eyed, or in denial enough not to see that he, AWA many of his fam, have some serious issues relating to fame & fortune & it's aftermath, AWA otherwise. No judging, just simple obvious discernment.
It may well be that he is only simply threatened by the adult world & has this uncanny desire to befriend children to somehow "protect" or "help" them in his own mind, but...adults, like PP said, have to draw some major lines of reason in the sand of life at some point in the game.
