That is most definetely Sugarfoot on that album. The man has an incredible pocket. Great album, I think I'll toss that one on right now.

I don't knwo who really plays on this great album, I just know that in this style it can be JR too...
To my opinon "Sugar Foot" and JR have a lot of stuff in common.

Hi everyone, I just bought this album, (THE JACKSONS 'LIVE') and was wandering if anyone knew who played drums on it, theres no credits on the liner notes and I cant think where to search on here for it. (It doesnt say on the amazon page either.)

Sugerfoot has been with them since the late 70's early 80's. He was with them before the Victory i am fairly certain.
Hi randy, had to go to my car to get the case! Its from 1981 according to the back of the case, but theres not really any other info. Doesnt say where it was reccorded etc... You think its 'sugarfoot'?

In 1984 the Jacksons played in Dallas on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday; and Van Halen was in a separate venue in town on Saturday and Sunday. Eddie played on Beat It on the Friday night show. I was thinking "how great is this" until the regular Jacksons' guitarist followed him with his own lead. Blew Edward away!!
And Moffett played a ballad so slow there must have been eight seconds between every downbeat. I was thinking click but it didn't look like it from where I was sitting.

go to Dimedozen, there is a DVD titled Eddie and friends, Eddie Van Halen........on it there is a clip from the Vistory tour in which Eddie sits in with the band to play on Beat It......Of course Moffit is on drums playing the famous V kit designed by Pat Foley.
The clip is a tad on the rough side.

I would say that gtrst may have been Jen Batten, but you didn't spec if she was femme...but from quite a few rows out [& a few "nips" or puffs [img]tongue.gif[/img] ] she could've very well been confused with a member of any of the popular hair-"metal" bands back in the day [when most the dudes looked like the gals ATT], what with the duds & her big n bad, poofy, long white-lightning-platinum do & all ATT [Poise-on, Ratt, Quiet Rot, Bon-Bon Jovial, Leppard, Hinderfella, Wassp, Vixen, You're Up, Cysted Blister, Motley Crewcut, etc]...
...& VH's 1984 was the last real tour w DLRoth, when they were still perf'g Hot 4 Teacher, Girl Gone Bad, Top Jimmy, & House of Pain live. If I'd've known they were gonna break up, i would've broke my arse [& taken off fr work] to go see that tour ATT.
It wouldn't surprise me if there was live concert footage from this tour. It was not Batten, she joined Jackson for the BAD tour.
Halen was big with the album 1984 but the Victory tour was THE show to see. The Jacksons were booked at Irving Stadium, in a suburb outside Big D where the Cowboys play. Eddie & his crew were at Reunion Arena in Dallas proper. Both acts were at the apogee of their popular success, back when the Elephant Man's skeleton belonged to somebody other than Michael.
Since the tour dates overlapped I guessed VH would probably be there in advance and if Eddie was gonna sit in on Beat It, it had to be on Friday. So that's the night I got scalped tickets for, very close to stage right. I kept telling the two delightful young ladies in front of me that Eddie was going to make an appearance. They doubted me until David Lee Roth and a chap who looked very much like Def Leppard's drummer before his terrible accident sat down a few rows ahead of us, ushered in by gents wielding flashlights maybe two songs prior to Beat It. After Edward played and left, so did Roth and companion, the latter flipping the audience off for some unknown reason.
If that was a female playing guitar, one-upping Eddie's show-offy look-at-me crap-o lead (that night anyway, normally I think he's great), then I must've not noticed beyond the androgynous rock star apparel and bouffant that that wuz a ghurrl and that she had just played Eddie's lead better than he had.

My guess is that, knowing Ed's playing, he prob didn't evn play the same solo as on the orig studio recordg. He prob just winged it [improv]. & perhaps it just didn't quite come up to that orig Beat [H]it studio magic[?]...

Too, Eddie walked onto a BIG stage that wasn't Van Halen's; maybe he couldn't hear just right or something. It was just a cameo second-fiddle appearance, I don't know if their tours coincided again and they did it all summer or what.
Everytime I've seen him with Van Halen he knew his song well before he started singing. Even at the Cotton Bowl in 1978 where they had to play on rented gear, right down to guitars, he lit up a Gibson Les Paul. (And played the very first wireless guitar rig I ever saw.)
