Man do I feel weird. It's like being stoned without the fun part. Anyone else ever try this stuff? I hope it works cuz if the effect stays like this I'm not gonna get much work done.

Smoking is pointless and bad for the health. But that's my point of view....
never been on that but i here it makes you feel that way. most prescription meds don't do much of anything for me. i have to take the good stuff just to get rid of a damn headache! but let me tell you this... if it makes you crazy like some stuff my doc just put me on.... QUIT!! i decided i would deal with the prob instead
...people stop smoking?
...before they die?
...huh.
That's...novel, I suppose.

While you guys are here I'm going to ask. What does smoking do for you? Buzz? Relax? I tried cigarettes as a kid, but found nothing enjoyable about it.
While I'm at it
Coffee. I don't like the taste. The answer I always get is, "you don't know how to make it." They then proceed to make their wonderful cup of java or take me to their favorite coffee shop. You know what? It still taste nasty.
Same thing with beer. I have my occassion social drink, but only to get a buzz. Just to get that buzz is a bitch 'cause beer don't taste good to me.
Call me Mister Goody Two Shoes!
I started smoking in Junior High to fit in with the 'cool' kids. Really dumb but that's the world of a 14 year old. Then the nicotine got to me and the rest is history.
I get NOTHING out of it now. It's just a big, expensive pain in the ass. But the nictine is some powerful shit. Wellbutrin is supposed to make it a lot easer to get over the cravings. It's worth a shot - God knows I've tried everything else!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks, Mort. The effect seems to be setteling and it's supposed to get easer as time goes on. If it doesn't, my doc's in for a serious ball kicking! Quote:

Say you weren't on this drug, Wellbutrin. What would happen if you didn't smoke?

But normally, if an addicted smoker stops suddenly, getting a cigarette is about all you can think about. I get dizzy, irritable, shakey, etc. All kinds of horrible sid effects. It's not fun.
are you smoking while taking it?
and besides, I fail to see a downside of that feeling
While we're on it, or addictions in general... I dont think I can get addicted to much besides, porn, o' course!) Honestly, I've seen everyone else fuck up in my family by becoming addicted to tobacco, alchohol, or worse... and I guess it makes me more um... resisant to temptation?
What Im saying is, hell, I've actually smoked quite a bit in my time, between my brother being a heavy smoker, and a few friends that did, so if there was another one around... hell, I'd sit outside, have a talk, and a smoke with them.
Thing was, I could just end up saying "nah, dont feel like it" and... I went from whenever I wanted to, just not doing it one day, didn't want to. Haven't for a year and a half now
Addiction's fer suckers!

nicotine is more addictive than heroin.
if I go a few hours without a smoke, I get headaches you wouldn't fucking believe.
and I get right snippy too.
kinda feeling like that right now, although it ain't nic-related.

The side effects will subside with a little bit of time. it takes a while to build to a theraputic level in your bloodstream. give it a few weeks
I was kind of like T.M above. I could smoke for a few months, get tired of it and quit. I could do this over and over. finally I just said screw it. I've seen way too many people die or work on them while dying from smoking. its a rough way to die

Try poking yourself in the eye everytime you light up. Eventually you'll get sick of doing that so you'll just quit.....or go blind.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Exactly. Peter Jennings' death freaked me out. Smoking almost killed my dad a while back. I'm just determined not to go that way. Quote:

I'm on major pain killers for my back and have been for a long time. I'm sure if I didnt take them I'd have major withdrawls and end up in the E.R. a while back I tried oxycotin for pain. that shit is straight from hell. 10 minutes late on a dose and youre into withdrawls. Evil shit. I got off of it as soon as I could get it out of my system. If they ever try and give any of you that shit, run the other way
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was taking Vicodin for my back a few years back. I was on it for about three months. Loved how it made me feel. But the same thing happened to me after I went off of it - major withdrawals. Shaky, depressed, diarrhea. I was miserable! Took me about two weeks to recover from it. I didn't go that route, I just used the patch and took myself off of that a month ago. I used the strong patch for a week, then the middle strength for about a month and started cutting them in half
down to quarters and that was that. I'm happy to be smoke free for two and 1/2 months now and I've even lost weight during this time to boot.
I will say this.. if you get some migraine headaches at about 3 weeks to a month Nicotine
free, don't worry, it happens to a lot of people.
Congrats on getting off the smokes bud!!
The Wife is on Welbutrin and I'm on Lexapro - both have evened out out temperments very well. Chaser's correct - it takes a few weeks to "normalize" in your system and the odd affects will usually go away.
I was alternating between Tylenol-3 and Vicodin for my head and both were making me violently ill. I just do my best to hit it with regular Ex-Strength Tylenol before the pain gets to be too much...
Thanks guys. I'm feeling pretty good now. The wierd effect only lasted a little while. Which is great news cuz I know I'll be able to follow though on this.
Congrats on quitting, DP . I know you were working on that for a while.
Drau, didn't I read about you getting in a bad accident? Sorry been away from the board for a few weeks. You doing ok?
Good luck, hopefully the meds take the edge off.
Yep, wife and I stopped at a car accident to see if we could help out (they were fine) but a telephone pole got pulled down on top of another good samaritan and myself. This was at the first part of the month and I'm doing quite well.. the other lady is unfortunatly not.
Holy shit! Sorry to hear that the other lady isn't doing well but I'm glad you came though ok.
Wow, Drau. I guess I missed the part about you gettign hurt. Glad to hear that you are doing better, hope the other lady gets well too.
Ive done so much vicodin trying to get pain relief its like taking candy. no response from even two of them. Tylenol with Codien is terrible on your stomach and doesnt do anything for pain. I take morphine and fentinyl now. been on it for a couple of years. cant even imagine how I'd be if I pulled off of it.
Qutiing's for quitters
