Aaaahhhhh!...Art, Books.....and FILM are what sustain me much of the time, like many..*S* There's so much utter crap out there in the theatres though, does anyone else agree?.. or am I just showing my age? http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net/biggrin.gif BUT, it's always a sheer delight to find a 'good' film, either on video or in the cinema.
Anyway, here's a list of my 10 favourite flicks to date (that I came up with tonight, anyways). Many are sleepers, very few if any are blockbusters. I'm not big on what Hollywood churns out most of the time. I know i'm forgetting some ..Gggrr

Some brilliant (in my mind) directors;

John Cassavetes, Charlie Chaplin*G* Frances Ford Coppola, Allison Anders, David Cronenberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Peter Greenaway, Kevin Smith, Frederico Fellini, Terry Gilliam, Bill Forsyth, Mike Leigh *w*, Martin Scorsese, John Sayles....
Right, i'm done...hehee!...Please comment, add, question, rip apart, do what ya will with the above, ok? Any film/director you think i'd like or that wasn't mentioned/was blatantly omitted? (Rant, be kind*G) I'd be very curious to hear your top ten list..
Ooooooooohh, I love the movies!!! And, so many I haven't seen..... *VBG http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net2/multi.gif

Ipcress File rings a bell.. hmmm and..

-
I've seen Paradise Lost 1 and 2.....chilling.....any oppinion on their guilt or innocence?
-
i dunno, i go back and forth between believing they did it and believing the kid's father had something to do with it.......i get a little disturbed when i see all these celebrities and musicians rallying for those three - i mean, unless you were THERE, do you know for sure they didnt do it? if they're guilty of those unspeakable things that were done to those poor boys, then people are holding concerts and stuff.........then again, if they're innocent, they're being punished for something they didnt do.....so that sucks too............the whole thing is insane
-
You know, I actually had the other documentary by those guys, "Brother's Keeper" in my head when I typed Paradise Lost but..as far as guilt in this one? yeah, I think they did it, from what I recall seeing.. but no doubt there was a lot more to the tragedy than we saw. Didn't one confess? Creepy trio of "boys" *shiver.. and some macabre activities they were involved in even before the crimes... who knows.. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net/skull.gif *ulp

Have you seen any of the following?

The Hill : 1965 : Directed by Sidney Lumet.
Sean Connery's in it http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Kenneth Hyman's production of "The Hill" is a tough, uncompromising look at the inside of a British prison in the Middle East during the second world war. It is a harsh , sadistic and brutal entertainment, superbly acted and made without any concessions to officialdom.
You gotta see this one 7!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

#2-Heat-for the realism
#3-La Femme Nikita-the original french woman, any woman that can strong hand only a desert eagle is my kind of woman!
#4-The Presidio-wasn't that good, but Meg Ryan is irresistable in it.
#5-Macintosh Man-good spy flick
That was easy enough

OoooooooooOompa loompa doompety doo
I've got a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompety dee
If you are wise you'll listen to me
What do you get when you guzzle down sweets
Eating as much as an elephant eats
What are you at, getting terribly fat
What do you think will come of that
I don't like the look of it
Oompa loompa doompety da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety do
Doompety do
Oompa loompa doompety doo
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompeda dee
If you are wise you'll listen to me
Gum chewing's fine when it's once in a while
It stops you from smoking and brightens your smile
But it's repulsive, revolting and wrong
Chewing and chewing all day long
The way that a cow does
Oompa loompa doompety da
Given good manners you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety do
Oompa loompa doompety doo
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompety dee
If you are wise you'll listen to me
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat
Pampered and spoiled like a siamese cat
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame
You know exactly who's to blame
The mother and the father
Oompa loompa doompety da
If you're not spoiled then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety do
Oompa loompa doompety doo
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompeda dee
If you are wise you'll listen to me
What do you get from a glut of TV
A pain in the neck and an IQ of three
Why don't you try simply reading a book
Or could you just not bear to look
You'll get no
You'll get no
You'll get no
You'll get no
You'll get no commercials
Oompa loompa doompety da
If you're not greedy you will go far
You will live in happiness too
