Hey, I'm about to do the VTOTD feature if you would so kindly tack it up for me, please?
...gruh.
I picked up used copies of Gungrave 2, 3 and 4 this weekend, so I just need 5-7. I think they had a used copy of 7, too, but I would rather watch them in order. They were only $10 a piece, so I saved enough to almost justify paying the $27 each for the last three (new). Almost. I am kind of debating that.
Anyway, I really like it. The whole elevator scene just freaked me out, even though I knew what was coming. They built up the tension so high I could've screamed...

I'm going to have to have myself a "marathon" and watch the whole thing in order once I get the last three volumes. It is a great anime, probably the best I have ever seen, although I must admit I have not seen very many. It appeals to me far more than mecha shows, or naked robot soldier chicks, or any of that other stuff that seems so favored among fanboys.
The elevator scene was just so beautifully played out, better even than a live-action film...I loved how Brandon was on the outside of the elevator, by the window, in the light, and Harry was inside, in the dark, but the building's framing kept passing outside the window, so that the shadows kept passing over Brandon over and over...
...and don't forget how it was finding the bodies in the elevator years before that that started his whole "career"...heh.
...and I loved all the little things, like the messages in the graffiti, or the guy's calculator saying "666" right before True Grave 'swept' the office...
I might have to just buy the rest of 'em...*sigh*
I like how they start out just a couple of street thugs and climb their way to the top of the syndacte. (sp)
it's my second fav anime after Berserk

What's Berserk about, GD?
Berserk is a heroic fantasy manga and anime by Kentaro Miura.
The main character is an almost unbeatable mercenary named Guts. Almost his equal in the battlefield is his love interest, Caska. She is the only female member of the White Hawks, a mercenary band led by the mysterious Griffith.
The first episode of the manga was released in 1998. A new episode is released every other week in Young Animal. It is still running, and the end of the beginning is approaching. The anime series covers only a small portion of the manga.
Story
The series opens with an epilogue. In a dark time, a pack of the king's guards are harassing a young lady in distress when all of a sudden, they are attacked and slaughtered. The Black Swordsman has returned. He swings a humongous sword as large enough to cut people and horses in two.
The remainder of the series is a flash back, where the Black Swordsman, (later introduced as Guts), looks back into his past. He sees years of trials and tribulations in the Band of the Hawk, a successful band of mercenaries under the charismatic leadership of Griffith, a man driven by the ambition to become king. The series continues through all these years and shows the rise in fall of the hawks through Guts' eyes. Their impressive rise to power and fame is soon challenged by a terror that leads them to the very depths of evil; the horrifying evil that resides in all men, and the desire for power that is able to possess a man entirely.
There are numerous plot twists and superb character development that keep the series fresh and exciting for the viewer, but there is a some nudity and a lot of blood that would make this series inappropriate for younger viewers.

Basically, since he was born, he has had to fight for everything. It is all he ever learned. Quickly becoming one of the best at killing, Guts is forced into joining a rising band of mercenaries after losing a duel to their leader, the charismatic Griffith. He becomes great friends with the young leader, and serves under his leadership as the commander of the Hawks Raiders.

I actually do have a crapload of stands, but no matter what I do with 'em, it ends up being this mass of Joes standing on a shelf. You can hardly see any of them.
I'd like something like a plexiglass case that would hang on the wall with a niche for each one...of course, at this point, the case would have to have a couple hundred niches...heh.
I've really been struggling with the toy display thing for a while now. I cleaned up the toy room over the last couple of weeks, put some stuff away and got most everything back into that one room rather than spread all over the house. So that is a good start. I still have masses of loose, stored toys and mip/mib stuff that I really have to make a hard decision about. To tell the honest truth, I think I am losing the fire, I just am not getting terribly excited about many toys anymore, and those that light me up are few and far between. The last thing I was really into (Xevoz) is dead...and I just don't know where I am going with this hobby.
