Man I Love this show!
I downloaded the whole first season (because I'd only seen a couple episodes) an now am following the second season. Is tres cool non?

I mean the logo on the tail of the shark in s2e02 is fantasitic! Writing is what its all about! And Lost has that in spades, eh? This is as good as it gets friends, and you miss it at your loss...

I just got season 1 on dvd. I'm a noob. only seen one episode so far....

There's so much hidden stuff on this show, it's quite amazing. From the obvious (characters passing each other in the flashbacks) to the little. I don't know where you guys are in watching (have you seen either of the new episodes this season?), so I won't say in case of spoilage.

ok, did the weekend crash course and watched the WHOLE first season. however we are two shows into season 2 that I missed. can one of you bring me up to speed on these two shows? before wednesday if possible. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I finally watched all of Se1 as well. I'd seen a couple shows when they were broadcast, but missed most of the season.
So far in Se2 they spent most of ep1 going into the hatch. Very fun! Lots of adventure! Those numbers appear yet again.
Ep2 dealt mostly with the raft survivours, very funny! And like I say the logo (from the bunker) on the shark is eerie & scary! Michael & Sawyer drift back to the island, find Qin who is being chased by "the others" Oooo!

On Tuesday, two weeks ago, I was in Plum Coulee Manitoba (everyone find THAT on a map!) in a thrift shop and the song Make Your Own Kind Of Music by the Mamas and The Papas http://www.lyricsdownload.com/the-ma...ic-lyrics.html came on over the radio. Hadn't heard that tune in a while, real 60's stuff!
So Season 2 Episode 1 comes on, and what song do they play? Twice? On a record player! Oooo! Cue the tilight zone music!
Yes, there is a working record player in the bunker, mwaaa hahaha!

Hummm, S2E3 was kinda dull, by comparison, eh?
I mean, they spent a lot of time just yakking in the bunker, and Lock's flashbacks were so-so. Also, who didn't know that the girl was Alex? Like DUH! It's the oldest trick in the book, the fake prisoner, eh?
Quite a crowd on the island, at least 4 "others", the crew of the boat, the Crazy French woman, the Crazy Bunker guy, Alex, 40 people from flight 815... missing anyone?

Season 2 - Episode 1
The episode begins with someone waking up and going through a normal morning routine (breakfast, workout, dishes, etc.). He turns on a record player (Mama Cass' "Make your own kind of music"), does something on a really old computer (most likely an Apple II) and then grabs a vial of some golden liquid and injects it into himself with an injection gun. Suddenly an explosion happens off camera and the man quickly turns off the lights & music, grabs a shotgun and pulls a telescope down from the ceiling. From the telescopes POV we see it follows a series of mirrors intentionally set up so that anyone looking through the telescope can see the hatch opening.

The Flashback is focused on Jack. The time appears to be while he was a resident, maybe mid to late 90s. Jack is on call as ER surgical consultant when two victims from a car accident come in. For some reason never explained, Jack is the only doctor available and must choose which patient to save, the male patient or the female one. He chooses the lady and the other patient dies. Observant watchers will note that the other driver (a) was declared dead at 8:15 and (b) was most likely Shannon's father. The lady is Sarah (Jack's future ex-wife) and while Jack saves her life, it looks like she is going to be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life. Later, in her hospital room, Jack informs Sarah of her condition. He also states some medicalbabble about something leaking and he'll need to operate on her again. While in there he'll try to fix her spine but it probably won't work. Jack's dad has watched this whole scene and in the hallway berates Jack for his lack of bedside manner.
In his office, Jack informs Sarah's fianc?e of her condition. Upon hearing that Sarah won't be able to have sex anymore and will need help going to the bathroom, Sarah's fianc?e promptly needs to "go to the bathroom" himself and never comes back. This enrages Jack and, in the operating room just before Sarah goes to sleep, he tells her he's going to cure her.
Later Jack is doing that horrible exercise where you run up & down the steps of a stadium. Someone else starts running the next aisle over and when Jack trips, the other runner comes over to help him. The runner, with his Scottish accent, introduces himself as Desmond and says he's training for a race around the world. Desmond eventually gets Jack to spill the beans on what's bugging him and Jack tells him about Sarah and that the operation actually had little chance of working. Desmond gives a big speech that essentially boils down to "have some faith Jack", then leaves.
Sarah wakes up and finds Jack sitting next to her. Jack tells her that the surgery failed but she doesn't believe him because she's wiggling her toes. Jack does that happy crying thing. End flashbacks.

In the main story, Jack and Hurley talk the others out of going down the hatch right away. Since the ladder is broken off 10 feet down there's no safe way to get to the bottom and there's no safe way to lower everyone into the hatch before the others arrive. The group heads back to the cave. On the way, Hurley informs Jack about the curse of the numbers, but Jack laughs it off and is more curious about Hurley having been in a psychward.
Back at the caves, Charlie informs everyone about Delenn... I mean Rousseau... being a nut job and that no "others" are coming.
Shannon realizes that Vincent the dog is missing and she runs off into the woods looking for him, with Sayid chasing after her. They eventually see Vincent, but he runs off again before they can grab him. In the chase Shannon gets separated from Sayid and starts to panic, realizing she's alone and lost in the woods at night. The weird whispering starts and suddenly she can see Walt! Walt is wet and shivering and whispering something but you can't understand what he says (unless you're good with technology and realized he was talking backwards). Sayid shows up and Walt disappears.
Back at camp, Shannon tells everyone about seeing Walt, but most dismiss it except for Sun who gets worried that something has happened to the raft. The hatch group returns and Jack lets everyone in on the hatch. Jack tells everyone to stay at the cave and in the morning they'll decide what to do. Just as he says that, Locke walks onto the scene with about 50 ft. of cable from the plane and an "I'm going now." A few minutes later, Kate informs Jack that she's following Locke and takes off too.
At the hatch, Locke talks Kate into going down first since she's lighter and he's stronger. Their pulley system doesn't work well and when one of the trees they have the wire wrapped around breaks, Kate is in freefall until Locke is able to brace himself against the opening of the hatch. The sudden jerking is enough for Kate to drop her flashlight. She?s about to ask Locke to pull her up but he starts lowering her again before she can. Kate suddenly hears a door opening and closing and a light turns off and then back on. She tells Locke about it and before they can decide what to do, a bright light shoots up out of the hatch. Suddenly the wire is being dragged into the hatch. Locke tries to fight it but doesn't do to well until the light goes off and suddenly the wire?s coming up easily, because Kate's not tied to it anymore.
Back at camp, Jack decides that he?s going to the hatch to get Locke and Kate to come back and, oh yeah, he?s bringing a gun along with him. When he gets to the hatch, he finds no one there and the wire trailing down into the hatch. Jack climbs down and at the bottom, Jack sees a mirror with a light (currently off) aiming at it. He takes out his gun and goes down the corridor (through an already open door). He looks around and notices things that are incidental (at least so far). He gets to a mural painted on the wall and studies that long enough for fanatics of the show to get a screen capture of it to study. Jack looks around some more and as he gets to one part of a wall, the key to the gun case that?s around his neck starts being pulled towards the wall. Jack hears a whirring noise and looks up to see a something like a camera lens or a small mirror moving. Jack starts moving to look at it but then Mama Cass starts singing loudly again as a bright light comes on. Shaken, Jack moves so he?s hiding behind a support post. While hiding, Jack looks to his left and sees some old computer equipment (including banks of reel to reel memory tape). He notices the Apple II and stares at the screen (the computer does not use the standard DOS command prompt, but the emoticon for ?devil?). Jack?s about to start pressing some buttons on the keyboard when the music suddenly stops and Locke says, ?I wouldn?t do that.?
Jack whirls around to point his gun at Locke. He asks where Kate is but before he can get an answer, a voice with a Scottish brogue yells for him to put his gun down. Jack refuse and the voice reveals that he?s standing behind Locke with a shotgun and again tells Jack to drop his gun. They go back and forth, including the Scottish voice firing a shot up into the ceiling to show Jack his gun works. The voice then says for Jack to lower his gun again and steps into the light enough for Jack to recognize that it?s Desmond.

Season 2 ? Episode 2
Three stories going this time, I?ll start with the one that?s least important.

Flashback, this time it?s Michael. We learn nothing new in this flashback, so I?m going to gloss over it. This flashback covers the actual custody battle for Walt between Michael and Walt?s mom Susan when she wanted to take him and move to Italy with her new husband. Short & to the point, Michael refuses to give up custody of Walt because ?I?m his dad?. But when Susan?s lawyer points out that he?s already barely in Walt?s life and Susan makes a private plea to him, Michael decides to stop fighting. The final flashback scene takes place in a park where, just before they leave for Italy, Susan brings a two year old looking Walt to see Michael. Michael spends about two minutes telling Walt that he?ll always be his dad and then hands him a stuffed polar bear. He hands a bag to Susan and says to let Walt know eventually that it was from him. She says she will.

The Hatch: Surprise! Instead of resolving last episodes cliff hanger, this time we get to see what happened to Locke when he went down the hatch. Light comes on, Kate disappears. After yelling her name a couple more times, Locke wraps the wire rope around himself and climbs down.
At the bottom, Locke starts walking down the corridor whisper/shouting Kate?s name. He starts looking around and notices a symbol that is octagonal in shape with a swan in the middle of it and the name Dharma. This symbol may have something to do with Ba Gua Zhang. He continues to move around looking until he hears a mumble. Going to it, he finds Kate lying on the floor just waking up from {presumably} being knocked out. As he helps her up, Kate looks beyond him and goes, ?Behind you!? Locke turns around to see Desmond aiming a rifle at them.
Desmond asks Locke, ?Are you him?? Locke is a bit fazed and Desmond asks him again. ?Are you him?? he says, this time with more vim. Locke, obviously having seen Ghostbusters, looks Desmond in the face and goes, ?Yes, I?m him.? Desmond starts smiling and happy goes, ?I can?t believe it! You?re finally here!? Locke, still not sure where this is going, is all, ?Yup, here I am.? Desmond points at Kate with the rifle and says, ?Who?s she?? Locke thinks quickly and says, ?She?s with me.? This throws Desmond off and he stops smiling. He looks at Locke and asks, ?What did one snowman say to the other?? Astute viewers have pointed out that this is a joke Hurley told someone when he was gathering everyone?s names & address and the answer is, ?Its ice to meet you.? Locke was not around during this time and finally losing momentum just goes, ?I don?t know, what?? Desmond gets angry. ?You?re not him?, he says as he tightens the grip on his rifle.
Desmond makes Locke drop his knife. Kate quickly offers up that they were in a plane crash. Desmond seems to respond to this a little so Locke offers up, ?44 days ago?. Desmond moves behind them and grabs some rope. He hands it to Kate and tells her to tie Locke up (inspiring what is sure to be a mess of fanfics across the net). Locke points out that he?s tying up the wrong person because, after all, Kate?s a fugitive and he?s just, ??a regional collections manager for a cardboard manufacture.? Kate gets an indignant look on her face but Desmond agrees and tells Locke to tie up Kate (inspiring even more fanfics I?m sure). Kate complains and struggles a little which gets her & Locke?s bodies to be moved so their backs are to Desmond for a few seconds. Locke reaches down his pants, pulls something out (no, not that) and puts it down the front of her pants. Kate has her hands tied behind her back as Desmond opens a door to a dark room and shoves Kate in and then closes it.
After a quick scene to remind us that Charlie took one of the statues of Mary that?s has heroin in it, we?re with Kate, who does that wiggling/contortion thing to get her tied hands in front of her. She then reaches down into her pants (more fanfic) and pulls out the knife Locke slipped her, unfolds it and cuts her hands free. She feels around and finds a light switch. Turning it on she sees she?s facing the door but there?s no handle on this side. Despondent, she slumps against the door and turns around? to see a fully stocked pantry (everything has that Dharma logo on it). She looks around happily and gets even more excited when she sees an air duct in the ceiling. She begins stacking boxes to climb on to open the hatch but stops at the one marked ?candy?. Ripping it open, she grabs a bar and takes a healthy bite experiencing a chocorgasm. She grabs about another 10 more and puts them in her pocket. She climbs up to the air duct, opens it and climbs inside.
Back with Locke, he?s explaining to Desmond how he got to the island. Desmond asks how many are in the group and Locke says, ?43, though 4 sailed away this morning on a raft.? This brings great mirth to Desmond who then asks Locke how many are sick. Locke is confused so Desmond gets irate. ?How many are ill? How many are dead?? Still confused, Locke says, ?No one?. We don?t get anymore of this conversation though as a beeping noise begins.
Desmond tells Locke to get up and moves him over to where the computer is. He makes Locke sit down. ?Do you know how to use it?? Desmond asks. Locke, entering full geek mode, exclaims, ?I haven?t seen one of these in over 20 years!? (what a dork). The camera shows us a timer sitting on the wall behind the computer, and it?s counting down with less than three minutes to go. Desmond tells Locke to enter only what he tells him to and starts ratting off Hurley?s numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23 & 42). Locke enters them and Desmond tells him to hit EXECUTE. Locke hesitates but then hits the button. The beeping stops and the clock resets to 108 minutes (which, btw, if you add up all the numbers, is their total). They then hear someone shout ?Kate? Locke?? Desmond turns to Locke, ?What?s that?? Locke, looking a little bemused and curious says, ?That must be Jack.?
Back from commercial, Desmond has moved Locke over to the telescope and is look through it. He asks Locke who Jack is and Locke explains that he?s the doctor. Desmond wants to know why Jack?s here and Locke says, ?I?m kind of curious myself actually.? Desmond moves a switch and we hear the sound of the mirror moving that Jack saw last episode. ?You?re doctor?s got a gun, brother.? Desmond hauls Locke over to the record player and turns it on. Mama Cass starts singing, causing Kate and her gratuitous cleavage shot to stop crawling along the air duct with a WTF expression. Kate scurries over to another vent that?s overlooking the room with all the computer stuff. She can see Jack looking around and shouts his name but he doesn?t hear her. We then begin the replay of the ending of the last episode with the only difference being that we see that Desmond?s warning shot actually almost hits Kate. Desmond steps into the light, Jack recognizes him and goes, ?You?? and they end this scene with the same cliffhanger. Bastards.

The Raft: We open with Sawyer coming to, floating in the water. We can hear Michael in the background screaming Walt?s name. Sawyer climbs up onto one of the few pieces of the raft left that?s big enough to hold someone. He reaches down and pulls Michael up onto the piece of driftwood, because Michael won?t let something like staying afloat and swallowing water stop him from yelling his son?s name so Michael is now drowning. Once he has him on the driftwood, Sawyer gives him CPR. He revives him long enough for Mike to ask where Walt is, then passes out.
Later, Mike is awake and yelling out Walt?s name over and over again. Sawyer points out to Mike that he should stop yelling because (a) he should conserve his energy and (b) they took Walt on a boat with a motor and are most likely not in hearing range anymore. Mike?s having none of that though and keeps yelling.
Later, Mike is now sitting calmly on the driftwood, but now Sawyer is yelling at the top of his lungs, this time for Jin. They argue about why it?s okay for Sawyer to yell, but not Mike. Finally Mike blames Sawyer for everything, since Sawyer?s the one who convinced Mike to fire the flare gun that let the Others know where they were. They go back and forth until something in the water starts bumping the driftwood. Sawyer pulls out his gun as both of them start searching the water. The camera pulls out and we can see a rather large shark swimming underneith them.
After commercial the two are still looking around the water but don?t see anything. They start arguing again, this time about the gun. Mike says it won?t work because it got wet, so Sawyer takes out the clip to check the bullets. Just as he?s got the bullets out, the shark bumps the driftwood again, spilling some of the bullets. The guys hunt for them and spot the shark fin rising up out of the water and back in. They realize it?s a shark and start arguing again, this time with Mike claiming the shark is hanging around because of Sawyer?s bleeding shoulder (remember, he got shot). More arguing. Finally fed up, Sawyer decides he doesn?t want to be on this piece of raft anymore and EVEN THOUGH HE?S BLEEDING AND THERE?S A SHARK IN THE WATER, he jumps into the water and swims over to another big chunk of raft. Unfortunately, the shark doesn?t eat him.
Later on, both of them are still drifting around on their separate raftlets. Sawyer starts examining his bullet wound. Mike points out that Sawyer would be crazy to try to remove the bullet with just his fingers. This gives Sawyer more motivation and he digs two fingers into the wound. With lots of grunting of pain Sawyer finally removes his fingers and is holding the bullet. Sawyer gives the bullet a ?yeah, who?s your bitch now? kind of look and then throws it into the water. He clutches his shoulder and turns to Michael (who has his back to him). ?Got a Band-Aid?? Sawyer asks and then promptly passes out. Michael still ignores him.
It?s later (again) and Sawyer is conscious. They are finally quiet and just drifting along in the same current. Sawyer finally breaks the silence with his realization that it must?ve been the Others who took Walt. He points out to Michael that the boat was not an ocean going vessel so it must?ve come from somewhere nearby, like the island. Mike takes this to mean that Sawyer is blaming him for their predicament and they begin arguing again. Finally, Mike starts splashing Sawyer and Sawyer starts splashing back when suddenly Sawyer?s raftlete breaks apart. He swims over to Mike?s (and we get a nice ?shark eye view? during it) and climbs aboard, much to Mike?s chagrin.
It?s later again and Sawyer sees one of the raft pontoons floating nearby. Sawyer starts paddling towards it with his one good arm, which gets Michael?s attention. Michael warns Sawyer to stop paddling, as the movement will put a strain on the binding of their raftlete. Sawyer doesn?t listen and soon enough, his portion of the raftlete breaks apart. Mike offers his hand but Sawyer points out that both of them would be too much weight for what?s left. Handing Michael the gun he tells him to shoot the shark if he sees it and starts to swim over. We then see the shark swim by and if you have TIVO and advance frame by frame, you can see the Dharma emblem on the shark. Sharkcam gets closer and closer to Sawyer and the dorsal fin pops out of the water, causing Michael to hilariously start wildly shooting into the water, screaming ?AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH? the whole time. Blood pops up in the water and there?s no more shark attacking but there?s no evidence of Sawyer either. Michael, ignoring his own warnings, begins to paddle over to the pontoon. Luckily the bindings were stronger on his side and he makes it over. As he starts climbing onto the pontoon (yelling Sawyer?s name the whole time), Sawyer pops up on the other side. He reaches out and helps Michael onboard.
Back from the last flashback. The sun is finally up and Sawyer is asleep on the pontoon. He wakes to the sound of Michael crying. Mike screams, ?It?s my fault. I never should?ve let him come on the raft.? He looks up at Sawyer and swears he will get his son back. Sawyer, uncomfortable, starts looking around. He sees something and gets a forlorn look on his face. Quietly he says, ?We?re home.? Michael looks up and the camera switches to give us his point of view and we can see that the current has brought them back to the island.
Michael and Sawyer climb up onto the shore and lie down, out of breathe. They stay that way for a few second until they hear yelling off in the distance. As it gets closer we can make out that the yelling is in Chinese and sure enough Jin bursts out of the woods onto the beech. He runs over to Michael and Sawyer and we see that his hands are bound behind his back and are still attached to whatever he was tied to that he broke to get free. Sawyer and Michael grab him and try to get him to calm down. Eventually Jin starts repeating one word over and over again and they figure out he?s saying ?Others?. Just then, shadowy figures come walking out of the woods.

One of the little things I love about this show is all the little things they slip in like the web site linked above and people popping up in other people's flashback. Stuff like that.

From what I've heard and read online, it essentially went like this.

X-Men film makers: "Hey Maggie Grace, we want you to play Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3."

Maggie Grace: "Hey Lost people. I'm going to go do X-Men 3 unless you pay me more money."

Lost people: "Ummmm... nah, go do X-Men. We'll kill you off."

(film Shannon's death scenes)

X-Men People: "You know what Maggie, we've changed our minds. We don't want you in our movie now."

Maggie Grace gets mad as she realizes her future film career will be as a scream queen.
