i was gonna mention the same thing! let's have a logo contest (per steve's permission) then have the logos printed on shwag and sell em. all proceeds go's to the site.

There's no "official" contest at this point, it seems like perhaps the interest isn't there? I'm not sure.

Funny enough, I was about to tackle this subject too! Nice work!

I used to do a lot of logo design for bands, so I'll try my hand at a HOD logo too when I get time.

How about 2 logos? This one as a main one, & a secondary one w TG...or somehow integrate the TG on the snare in your first logo above? ANYways, just a thought... [img]cool.gif[/img]

Somehow making the two vertical lines of the "H" the sticks, 1 LH/TG; 1 RH/MG ;-], next to or slightly over the O [snare]...OK maybe that's corny unless it could be made to look just right. ["Corny"
would really be then turninmg the "D" into a smile emoticon!] [:-D /;-P

But, how politically correct is traditional grip?
Perhaps we should use the fabled double trad grip so it'll actually be "matched" and trad at the same time.

Or maybe show three hands instead of two, with a left trad and a left matched.

...or maybe not.

I think Chris' is killer actually. I'd like to see a different font but that's about it. I don't think the skin drum is a problem but hey, that's me. (the modern drum shop logo comes to mind)

Chris, if you can throw one up with a modern drum I'd love to see it. I know what you're saying about it looking a bit odd. (I think)

LDguy, very cool idea... I like where you are coming from with this. Just need to build on it a bit. I might snag a shot of one of those yamaha drums for my HOD logo to replace the hand drum.

To pick up a dead thread...I was thinking about these logos and decided to goof around a bit. I'm not a major designer, but pretty handy with photoshop. So I took Chris's design and modified it with a snare (though the spacing around the "o" is slightly whacked). Then I started messing around with/ recombining a few things. These are just sketches.

OK, Steve, don't ban me for using your pic...the guys all wanted it... [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

HOD logo with piccolo snare (ends up not looking very piccolo as I had to stretch it a bit):

I like the original logo, myself. Reminds me of the old U.S. Postal Service logo. I never knew it was an eagle. I thought it was some dude.

Agree, and maybe the snare could be angled in the other direction to be ergonomically compatible with the trad grip.
