Marshys review of the MC Fly gig !
It was excellent !! First came the Pickle platter with a stack of Poppadoms the size of Paul Stanleys Heals. This was shortly followed by the house special, a kinda Authentic dish as hot as the fire from Gene Simmons mouth, this was washed down with copious amounts of (King) Cobra Beer !!The rather small but intimate crowd of 1 ( my Bud' ) were appreciative of all tracks ( ordered off the menu ) offered. Good night all in all and would highly recommend. A+++++++++++
Oh yeah my daughter and her friends said the gig was "Great" and that someone in the band was " well fit.." (L.o.l) well ... er .. right!

Funny post Bud
Thanks dude, Going for an Indian meal with good company will always be better than having to listn to "Teeny-Bop-Pop band" pap-shmeer anytime.
B.T.W:- Am i to run off and hide in shame yet bro'? My ears have been burning all day !!! Come on .. tell!!
Please be gentle with me !;-)

Had a spin of the bleedin heart album. Struck me as a little Crue sounding, although a little dated sounding, It didn't exactly jump out and grab me by the neck... But I need to listen again on some decent speakers when I get home.
Wow Crue eh? Personally i dont think it comes anywhere near as Gud as the Crue, but yeah i guess its in that same glammy tradition. Not trying to justify it or anythang but .. itw was done in 1991 and mixed end of 92, and production has come on in leaps and bounds since then.
One of the main reasons i got into production and ended up owning running my own studio was this album, i hated it, and hated the production, ( which was produced by Kit Wolven (UFO etc) Im not into the fact that the whole thing is drum heavy (Mick 'i want my own way' Ransome waz ultimately to blame!!)Bass sounds like shit, and theres far too much "blanket" reverb thrown all over it.
Still a good laff while it lasted.
If i had too, Real long way is the tune i liked the most, which was written by Marc Arma Chan .. another short lived Tatty luv Boat (Ex Gin Sling)
And mine and Adam Godzikowski's backing vocals on "White Lightning.." was a hoot to do (we fell about laughing for hours trying to get a take..)and the only moment on the album that im most proud of .. For what its worth!!
Marshy
I guess you weren't too keen on the drummer.
To be fair he was a bit useless Lenni, talked the talk but dint walk the walk, i wuz 25 at the time and he was nearly 40 then, so maybe i wuz expecting more. I have myself been drumming for 30 years now (40 next month..) and it still hurts me to listen to it !!Crap technique is something to be left to people just starting off on a chosen instrument, that should if anything improve with time, being a big gob Southern wanker who fucked his way thru the ranks of Kerrang is nothing to be proud of, Admirable yes, but you still must have a modicum of talent in the first place. As a bassist, when working alongside a drummer thats always getting lost in a live situation, all ( the starts and que's for intro's etc fucked up..) the Rhytm section always tends to get the flack together, 'sloppy,' "Laid back off the groove" etc, comments i hated every minute of it, cos he made me look a tool too!! and if you dont like it then whats the point in staying. Man if you could have been there in the studio it was embarresing having to watch him play poor love !!
Oooooppppsy, ive ranted aint i? I'm not bitter .. Onest guvnor .. punch me in the stomach !!!
Andy, the second album is actually better (song wise, play wise, production wise) than the first album.
And personally Marshy, I would take TLB over the Crue any damn day of the week. But that just has to do with an intense hatred for the Crue. But I also like TLB.
I don't know why I don't like them, I just don't. Pick any band you don't like, and try and explain it further than a "they suck". There is just something.
I'm a Glam nut, been into it for longer than I can remember, been in many bands, but I will NOT like a band just for being "Glam". If a band sucks, I don't care if they have the best image and stage presence. That's part of the major problem with what little Glam scene there is nowdays, we are way too forgiving. I have heard bands praised here that are just flat out terrible. But they look good, so people like them.
TLB had something in their music. Mick's voice was damn near terrible, but musically there was something REALLY good about them. If they had a better voice on that first album, they could have been much bigger. But that voice...that voice was so weird. The second album was much better. But musically, there were some great pure RnR riffs going on, and a nice energy.
The first Crue was the best, but even that was spotty, IMO. SHOUT was pure Metal crap. Nothing Glam about that thing, just Metal. THEATER was a Hanoi inspired rip-off that failed at it's attempts to be Pure Glam/RnR. Everything after those fit in with the 80's "Hairband"/"Cockrock" bullshit that killed whatever chances Glam had of being successful, since all of a sudden bands like Firehouse (apologies to FH fans) and Warrant were being called "Glam".
Oldtimers on this site already know my feelings for the whole Hairband/Cockrock stuff, and the US scene and the extreme disliking of the Sunset Strip style of bands. Don't worry, you learn to ignore my rants and just laugh at my surliness.
Come on man, narrow it down a bit for me, what is is that you dont like about Crue? Without being rude to anyone, sometimes guys just dont like the fact that Glam guys are considered pretty boys, and to some degree they have girly qualities, ive found (and talked to many Glammy guys about it and its always been stated by them, that the attention they get from the girls is what encourages them to go glam (and the music of course) often leadin' them to be in a perfect position to infiltrate the girl camp and consequently get "laid." (Oh int your hair nice, of course you can borrow my make up, can i stroke you? can i f**k you!!!!) all predetory sly moves with a means to an end. My point? well, could it be that most guys who dont like glam bands that are draped in women are jeolouse and maybe that the problem is that they are flat out UGLY, and can only be in DA heavy Metal mob, with greasy hair spotty mugs and a "i'm a real man, fuck those pussys" attitude !! I may be wrong, who knows ? I may have just opened up a can of worms here but methinks its an interesting though eh?
BTW .. im not suggesting you may be an ugly MOFU, far from it, but when you say "i hate them there shit on a glam site such as this, an answer to why , i feel must be posted. Later bruv'
Anyone?

Well that is me at age 35 right there and I don't think I am a dog or anything, and my looks have slipped in years due to baldness, but I have very little in the ways of a self-esteem problem. In fact, I think I am quite lovely.
I never got into Glam or music for the sex or anything of the sort, and I always had a problem with bands who flaunted that aspect of it. I am talking about when I was 12 or so and Motley first started gaining speed in the early 80's. I started on guitar when I was 5, so obviously it was my love of music and the guitar, not sex, that pushed me.
Then I read the accounts of The Crue, and I found them to be digusting people and idiots to match. Nikki talking about how he never practices anymore, why should he? They were the opposite of what I would do if I ever made it. The looks had nothing to do with it. I was a Glam fanatic from the age of 11 or 12. But they were beyond silly. I didn't like the music, it was too Metal. I still am not a fan of "Heavy Metal", unless it has some NY Hardcore roots or is along the lines of Death Metal, and that is only due to all of my friends. But Metal such as what Crue was doesn't do anything for me.
Like I said also, once they moved on from the "Metal" of SHOUT, they were playing sub-par RnR or bad Hairband stuff. I hate commercial Metal, stuff like Nelson, Warrant, Poison, I have no time for. It's not my type of music, and I don't consider it "Glam".
Just because I love Glam isn't a reason why I should like Crue. It isn't a reason I should like any certain band. I despise Roxx Gang, I don't like Guttersluts, Spiral Fetish, Blaq, Glamour Punks (though maybeif I heard something with decent sound...who knows) and I don't like many other bands. Just as I am a HUGE RnR freak, I think The Rolling Stones have just as much shit in their history as they have great material. I love Rockabilly, but I think Elvis only had a few good releases and was far from being the best from that time period and would take Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and Billy Lee Riley over him anyday of the week. People who blindly follow a style of music for the sake of being "fans" of the style of music more than the music itself only do a disservice to the music scene than anything else. It was the blind following that killed Glam in the 90's and the overflooding of shit bands. It wasn't Nirvana.
Motley Crue has nothing to offer to me other than girls with "nice racks" (or since with are in Glam "nice raxx"), and I can get that at home or in a magazine. Musically Vince is a poor voice, Mick is a mediocre guitarist, and I don't give two shits about Tommy's abilities on the kit, because nothing else is doing squat for me. Nikki's bass? Yeah, two note thumping is two note thumping. I also don't like "Power Ballads" at all, and they have more than their share. Motley Crue singing about love and shit...yeah...there's honesty for ya.
I don't like them. Never have. It has nothing to do with looks. Back in the day, I had the hair, I had the face, I had the "body". I never used any of it or flaunted it. You will never find pictures of me without the shirt or in the "pose". I wasn't in it for that. It never occured to me to be in it for that. I loved to play. If I am going to hate a band for success and making it (all I ever kind of wanted, though I was more after actually playing what I wanted to play), then I am afraid I would have no CD's in my collection.
I should also stress that I obviously have nothing against people with "the image" and I do love the "image" of Glam, just please back it up also.
Is that you in your avatar Marshy? If so, you have a cool look going.
The picture of you without your shirt from the TLB days I was not ripping on up there. Just to clear that up. Everybody did it back then, and again, it just wasn't my thing. I walked in the Dogs D'Amour thing. That was what I wanted.
Oh, and don't worry about pissing me off. I've been on this site since '97, and if I haven't left it yet, your actually seemingly trying to engage in a good conversation sure as shit ain't going to get me to leave or get pissed.
Shit !!!! I'll get mi coat then !!

Erm no you melon !! its Nikki Sixx from the Crew (L.M.F.H.O) :-)
Well you are playing him! LOL!!! I always did think Nikki had become a cool looking cat in the past few years. Much cooler looking now than he was in the whole of the 80's.
No, you haven't been "told off". You asked me to explain myself further. My Bible length posts are actually an old staple of this site. I used to be notorious for them, but in recent times I haven't had anything to really ramble on about. You brougth me back around a bit.

Thanxs man, greetings now from shitsville (Wildhearts..) to you too, my folically challenged amigo. And heres to plently more cool postings!!
Marshy;-)
Hey man, shame you dont like the Crue, and begs to ask why? I know bands like Kiss, Crue , Poison dont really have anything of substance to shout about, but i think that they are all ultimately 'Fantasy entertainment.." and thats the part of the whole Glam thing i love. Best not to take anything serious with this "ilk" of band, they are all kinda Spinal Tap in their own right, and thats what makes em great in my eyes !! With regards TLB Over the Crue, MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i'm not with you on that one, Crue are so cheesy they need to be served on Jacobs Crackers..i should know i'm a Nikki Sixx Clone in a newly forming Crue tribute band (Mutley Crew..) man its just for shits and Giggles .. lighten up dude !
Marshy
<font size="4" face="Arial">Told ya, you would regret it! LOL. Carl has a way with words and loves a good long post. He is renound on here for it.Quote:

Lets get the fuck outta here before they get here.
I know Andii, but few on this site are as "full blooded Glam" as you yourself. I know there is some you dislike, but you and Marky don't bitch and whine about bands NEARLY as much as I do.
YA'RE RIGHT CARL!!!BUT IT'S CUZ USUALLY I DON'T MENTION BANDS THAT I DON'T LIKE!!! BUT THERE'S A LOT!!! WARRANT/ENUFF Z'NUFF/TYKETTO/ROXX GANG/BUTCH WALKER (NOT SURE HOW TO SPELL)/MTVISHED PUNK BANDS (BLINK 182/SIMPLE PLAN/) MOSTLY OF THE HANOI ROCKS RELATED (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DEMOLITION 23 AND SHOOTING GALLERY)/ANYTHING GOTHIC, INDUSTRIAL OR JOURNEY KEYBOARDAORISHED (ALSO BEING GLAM)!!! TOO MANY DISLIKES FOR ONLY ONE POST!!! HA HA!!!

<font size="4" face="Arial">LOL! What are you talking about Marky!?! I have yet to find much of anything you DON'T like in the Glam scene! I think there is much that you are not as much of a fan of as I am, but I have yet to see you say something is actually "bad". You and Andii are my two exceptions for people that just like everything for being Glam. I think you two actually have such a deep and true love for this stuff, that you really do find something in almost every band.Quote:

Thank you for the "nicest guy" compliment though. Coming from The King of Glam, that actually means quite a bit.
Oh, and for the record, I LOVE Heart Throb Mob, crappy productions and all.
I also love Foxy Roxx, so there are two LA (O.K., so Foxy was San Diego...but ya know...) bands I make exceptions for.
Nah Carl... there are glam bands I never got into. I don't just like something because it is glam. It still has to be good to me
My musical tastes are pretty diverse anyway, but of course I love the glam shit
You dont like Enuff z Nuff dude? thats a crime they are one of my faves!!!
