CC DeVille has been said to enter a rehabilitation center for alcohol and drug abuse.
Me being bigtime against drugs and think people who do them are stupid....I feel CC needed this.
I can see him as the next Rocker to be found dead of drugs and that sucks.
Those that think drugs are cool to do....Wake up!!!
Anyone that puts this crap in their system is stupid.

I for one (and many others i guess..) take recreational drugs, (albeit just a Sliffy now and then mind..)and wouldn't consider that i waz stupid, your quite welcome to say that, in your own personal oppinion, you may think were silly to do so .. fair comment !! C.C it seems has been in and out of Rehab more times than i can remember, all the guy really needs is someone to tell him that hes loved and needs to try and not give in to temptation at the drop of a hat. I suppose you could blame us all for Buying his albums which give him the money to go do such things in the first place. Its always stated that just a little , will do no harm, but diving in head first and eating the whole horse is bound to enevitable kill ya .. Again i hope he recovers but, hey man dont tarnish us with the same brush !! ( especially not on this site too..)I suppose we are all "DRUGGIES.." with the amount of pills and remedies we stick down our neck without a second thought. Also drinking is a lethal form of drug abuse, but in moderation is deemed as O.K? 9 or the Govnmts of the World would endorse it and make Big Buks out of it eh?
It does say in the Bible does it not .. about the Herbs, Llet alone the healing qualities of such things !! If you dont drink, dont smoke, dont take medicinal drugs and Live on bread and water in a monestry, pleaze dont preach to us about this subject.
To end, i get closer to God when i've had a 'J' which leads me to believe God gave us the herb to become closer to his majesty, Please dont be a Hypocrite in your postings man.

Havin a couple o smokes and stickin needles in yer are two different things, I am a parent and have been around the block enough to know the difference, kids these days are too easily led, if my kids were doing a bit of dope now and again in this society I suppose I would not approve and do my damndest to stop it, but if it went any further I would fuckin go off big time. Its all about control.

Elvis asked to be made a DEA officer because he was appalled at the amount of weed and heroin use he encounted in the music and film business. The point being that Elvis Presely was about as staunch anti drugs as you could possibly get.
How ironic that he should die at 42 from a heart seziure brought on by over eating. The condition he suffered from was due to the fact that his stomach lining was so f**ked up from years and years of prescription drug use, that the synapes and motor neurons didnt tell his brain when his belly was full.
Elvis Presely never considered he might be a drug addict or in anyway reliant on a drug yet he was as big a junkie as Keith Richard once was. People use drugs for all kinds of reasons and a non drug user could never ever understand.
I could describe to you what it is like to parachute from a plane but unless you have actually expereinced that senstaion for yourself, no explanation is ever really going to give you a true understanding of what it feels like.
Creative people are often emotionally vunerable by nature. That is why they write great songs or give great acting performances. That vureablity is what makes them so good at what they do and it often comes at the cost of being weak in the face of other things.
Who knows what emotional baggage an individual has to carry. Just beacuse it is not your baggage does not mean it has any less weight or worth to the person it belongs to.
You can fuck yourself up in an auto wreck equally as bad as taking drugs and I bet you would have to admit to occasionaly speeding.
Tell me honestly that you have never in your life made a decision under duress, or strong emotions, that you later regreted.

Yes..we all screw up, and we all have to live with the consequences, we are all here because of a common bond, I guess bearing in mind its fifteen to twenty years ago that we are all reminising about, that we all have problems letting go, I will be the first to admit to that, drugs no excuse, thats just my opinion.
Marcus is a guy with a big love of music. Some the most amazing songs ever have been written on drugs, about drugs, or inspired by drugs. You cannot just discount the creative positives in place of social negatives.

Hey Lenni you wuz abusing last night werent ya .. ya fookin Druggy .. To get serious for a mo tho' .. I cant really drink or do drugs anymore it knocks me sideways. Every now and then tho, i admitt to having the odd 'J' and a glass of Red, but am just getting high watchin my Kidz grow up an being a cool Dad/Parent. Plus playing/performing sober which is much more fun than ever playing whilst blasted.

Ian, bearing in mind that we lived in each others pockets for a while on the road, I cannot recall you partaking in substance abuse, whilst other people (no names) were pretty much relying on weed to get through, whats yer point?
I think it's more the weak, blind greediness of
the rockstar who can afford to indulge in
everything, and then does, which is what most
'anti-drug' people find distasteful. There certainly
isn't anything Epicurean about it. Boreishly
bragging about it later (as Ozzy's chemically-
challenged noodle often does) just makes people,
at best, feel pity: a fate worse than death for

Marshy, you will relate to this, me and JB pushed a fine line on a bike but I would never have put his life in danger, it wasn't about me, I once had a bloke in a souped up beemer giving me problems, I killed him on the straights but he was all over me in the twisties, I had the red mist but eventually backed off and let him go, know what am sayin.

I think saying that the "drug chooses you" is a weak attempt to cover a weak-mind to disguise ones fault at even using in the first place.

Yep mate that was a drug all in its self.
I love beer. I have a beer a day pretty much. I rarely drink to excess, as I don't like the hangovers and such. So I rarely go beyond two or three when I do go beyond my one.
I don;t do any other forms of drugs. No weed, no acid, nothing harder.
But I am the first person who says it is a fucked up world we live in where alcohol is legal and pot is illegal. Nobody bashes their loved ones head in because they were high on "grass". But violence always happens with booze.
If my kids (of which I do have two) were smoking pot, I would have their heads. NOT for the harm of the drug, but for the simple fact it is illegal. The main reason I do NOT get high is because it is illegal, and I don't want the hassle and I don't want the kids to see Dad possibly get arrested.
But to be anti-Pot for it's evils is friggin' stupid.
Plus, without it we would never have had Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle!!!

My comment about The drug choosing you was a direct reference to something Lenni said about him not remembering me being much of a smoker compared to other members of the band.
My comment was refering to the fact that my drug of choice was not weed.
Morality aside, if you have ever mixed on that side of life you would know that some people will say that smoking dope has little effect on them. Alternatively you find that those people might prefer another specific narcotic that you yourself do not like, or get much of a buzz from.
That is what I meant by the drug choosing you. I was not saying you had no choice but to take it IF the drug chose you.
I also find it incredulous that anyone who has never taken a drug is even remotely qulified to speak objectively on the subject. All the best rehab counsellors are the ones who have been to the edge themselves. It is impossible anyone to have a knowledge of something they have never done. Its like saying you're a football fan but only ever having seen it on TV.
Drugs are ultimately destructive and they can cause alot of damage in a lot of ways but every expereince in life can be rich in more ways than one. I have gone through a dependency and, as difficult as it was, it taught me a great deal about myself. It made me a much stronger, and I hope better person, to have gone through that.
It made me much more confident and thoughtful about things I had never considered that important to me. Things I now realise I needed to realise where important and that can only be an enriching thing.
You once, mentioned your family had a history of alcohol dependency on one side and that is why you have never drunk. That is your choice and somethinhg anyone should respect, but it is something steeped in your fear of what might happen to you if you are as suspetable to the booze as others have been.
What is more fulfuilling and enriching? Life is about learning for yourself and expereincing things, good and bad. That is how we become objective and wise. Not by not facing up to our fear.

Its amazing how another person can speak your inner most thoughts and respect goes out to you Mr Hunter in droves .. And Carl your right it is a shame that socially Weed is considered "bad" and is therfore illegal, and i have always maintained a little decorum when it comes to having a 'J' whist my kids are about, but then like us all with our little vices in life, best kept till the bains have gone to bed, when its time to unwind a little.
As for Getting high? well to be honest ive never really been high on Weed, all it does for me is let me " chill out" literally .. some how enabling me to get a better/clearer perspective on the day/week etc.

Well then apologies to you for the "drugs choose you" bit.
This is the way I see it and people don't have to agree with me.
If you want to snort, smoke, stick drugs in your system and in the long run you either die, or have drugs kill you slowly then so be it. I chose to not do anything cuz of uncles who were in the same boat people who choose to use drugs are.
There is a reason why I'm a big part of St Judes Children research hospital. The way I see it...is you have small children who don't even see their 5th birthday....They didn't choose the disease that they are in the research center for. I think about all these children who never had a chance to live and then think of people who have their chance only to waste their bodies with drugs. That's my part in how I see things...That's my reason for being non-sympathetic to druggies who use and then all hell breaks loose due to constant years of usage.
It's a screwed up world.
Who says that someone that doesn't use drugs doesn't know how it is...It's not hard to see people wasting their lives away on pathetic drugs and to top that off have an excuse for their usage...which I find ridiculous.
People who've been on here from the beginning know my views and stands against drugs...so all the new comers....Nothing will change my mind.

Ok This IS about CC being in rehab right?
I have hung out with CC on several occasions, and not just for a few minutes for a "phot op" or an autograph.
I am talking ENTIRE days.
CC without drugs is this most awesome wonderful and funny as hell guy and he just permeates the area and everyone around with him with such a wonderful positive aura.
CC on drugs, is drk moody, snappy and short tempered. doesn't want to talk or even be around people for more than a minute.
When I last saw him I wound up walking away and asked Rikki if he was back on drugs...
Rikki looked at me and said plainly "you know him enough to know that, don't you?"
he shook his head when he said that. I have not talked to CC since then.
that's what drugs do to someone.

Raggz, you can't compare the kids to the abusers. Life deals you what it does. It's not to say that if one of those kids does make it through that they aren't destined to find drugs. The choices a teen makes are not the same as what a child would ever do. Though we are the same person for our entire lives, we are actually many different people. Remember, even serial killers and people such as Dahmer, Hitler and Saddam were all once upon a time lovable little kids.
16 year old Carl was a straight edge maniac. I hated drugs, smoking, alcohol, you name it. 18 year old Carl started to smoke. Not sure why, just did.
20 year old Carl tried pot, didn't like it. That was about the age I found imported beer. Enjoyed it, got HAMMERED on it and a bunch of other stuff, and damn near died. People who saw me walking the next day were in shock.
27 year old Carl quit smoking.
29 year old Carl decided life was too damn short to avoid everything in life. I was watching my Mom die from Cirrosis. She got it from the medications her mom took while pregnant. My mom was withering away and looked a skeleton. She didn't ask for the cirrosis, she just got it. The docs told me she wouldn't survive two weeks, and she probably wouldn't get the transplant.
5 days later she got the liver she needed. This was now almost 6 years ago, and she is still with us. She has a few problems right now, but things are still going as best as they could.
I'm now a part of a study group for Mayo Clinic, as there is a pretty damn good chance any day now I will be finding out I have cirrosis. This type is hereditary (sic).
But ya know what? During the time Mom was getting ill, I knew it could happen to me, but I also found a great enjoyment in fine beers. I started thinking, if I take it in moderation, I should be fine. I love the taste of these beers. Sometimes I enjoy a slight buzz, and every now and then it's nice to get ripped. Yes, it's an escape, and sometimes I need an escape.
The thing is, you get one chance at living. I know what I like in life, I know I want to live. I know there are things in life to be enjoyed. I know this world is here right now. I like to think there is something after this one, but I am not sure. I know I have a bottle of Westmalle Triple in my cellar right now, and I know I will enjoy the flavor VERY much.
It's a sad thing Raggz, seeing a child getting sick and passing. I have two kids, I would probably die if I lost them, literally. There is nothing I love more than my kids. I also coach kids softball and give plenty of time to kids. A ton of these critters in my town know me now, and I hear on a regular basis how they feel about me.
One thing I have learned about kids though. They have compassion and they can find sympathy for everybody. They know unconditional love, something we forget about in time. They have a greater understanding than we do. None of those kids would ever think the way you do towards a drug abuser or a person who drinks.
You can't compare your situation to anybody else. It's arrogant to do so. You don't know what happened on that April night back in 1992 that sent somebody down whatever path.
Certain things that are beautiful about being alive, and they are compassion and finding humanity. Never turn your back on a person in need. Protect yourself, but also do what you can, and always shed a tear.
Sorry to rant, but it bothers me to see anybody missing compassion. Plus, it almost feels like the kids are an excuse to have hang-ups, and the kids themselves don't even have those hang-ups, so you REALLY shouldn't. Lifes too short for hate of any sort, and it is really to short to miss out on maybe enjoying it a bit. Not saying you should do drugs or drink, but you should try and understand exactly why somebody may have tried it once upon a time, and been sent spiralling.

I know, as a teen of 17 and the boys (And band) I was with were all doing blow, mushrooms, gas etc (Nothing as extreme as heroin though!). I grew out of it when my first child arrived and never touched any shit again. It was just a phase I went through I guess.
These days... give me a few beers over drugs any day!
I am not into drugs at all. I did certain things when I was younger and that was it. Some of those guys I bothered with at the time are either dead now from drugs or are still using them. Sod that.
I don't even drink these days to the point where I get home and the room is spinning. Fuck that. I know now my limits. I can get drunk as fuck, have a good time and know when enough is enough. I haven't seen the room spin in years lol.
Sure I get drunk... but not to the point where I am praying to the porcelain god. (And in the house, I will just have a few cheap cans... Brewsters eh Daz? LOL).
Hey Marcus I am in almost complete agreement with you. Your point is exceptionally valid. As you say, it is hard to have sympathy for what you view as a self inflicted situation when you sit it next to a kid with lukemia.
From that perspective it is understandable.
However, I just do not think that life is as black and white as that. A kid with lukemia is much more deserving than a smack head are they more deserving than a kid born deaf and blind?
It doesnt always work to try and justify things via relativity.

Hey, why hasn't anybody mentioned what a dangerous drug alcohol is? It sure as hell would be banned as illegal if it was only discovered now. What other drug causes as many car accidents, violence, suicide's, illnesses etc? None! Also cigarettes would be surely banned if they come out now. Cigarette smokers cost millions&billions and so many people die and suffer cos of them. Just a few points I wanted to add.
Oh yeah, and I'm a 'weak chocoholic'. Where's the nearest rehab? And yes, am serious [img]smile.gif[/img]
All the time governments make money out of taxing beer & cigs, they won't prohibit it.

I have read everyones posts on this thread with great interest, I don't believe anyone of us condones drug abuse, we are all here because ultimateley we love the music and unfortunateley drugs and booze are part and parcel of it. We have all 'been there done that' and are all still here to tell the tale, lets face it if we hadn't come to our sense's there would be no glitzine cos we'd all be pushing up daisy's, paying for one excess or the other. It sounds like all the parents (me included) are probably, because of previous experiences some of the most concerned, admit it you don't want them doing what you did, hey I smoked abit of weed but realised early on that I would rather have a beer but it could have gone the other way. Life is a wonderful thing, making sure the life you have created are safe and happy is far more satisfying.
