Betsy Lane is a really weak Kentucky school. The red tigers should come away with an easy win.

Castlewood 12

Castlewood is a much better ball club than what Hurley has been playing against. Look for the Rebels to get tested early but pull away in the 2nd half.

Grundy 20
Graham 12

Grundy is back in action this week after consecutive bye weeks, which were desparately needed by the Golden Wave. With 6 games remaining the Wave has a very good shot at the playoffs with a strong finish. Look for them to come out focused and take advantage of G-men injuries.

Honaker might be able to hold on to home field advantage in the first round with one more loss but if they lose to more then probably won't just lose the top seed but more than likely drop to third and have to go on the road in the 1st round...thats ofcourse depending on how Haysi and GC finish up as well.

The Region D playoffs certainly won't be like seaons past when the #1 seed basically got a free ride into the title game because they get to play Rye Cove or Kelly the first round. This years playoffs should be the most evenly matched in a long time.

first to honaker tiger fan I wouldnt call those JJ Kelly teams that made the playoffs a free ride they were pretty good and if they were in the BDD they could have won it

second I would love to see RED vs ORANGE for the reg D crown

Agreed...early prediction is Honaker holds on to the #1 seed followed by Haysi at #2...Gate City drops to #3 and Clintwood comes in at #4

1st round:
Clintwood at Honaker
Gate City at Haysi

Region D championship:
Haysi at Honaker

Alot of football to be played yet but thats the way I see it going down.

JJ Kelly has only made the playoffs like twice since they won state back in the early 80s. Honaker played Kelly back in the mid 90s when we were a pretty mediocre team and always beat them.

I don't think C-wood will put up 35.
Other than that the winners are all right just won't be that much offense from the non-BDD teams. Best game will be Hurley and Castlewood. This will also be a preview of possibly how bad Hurley may beat Twin Valley.

Yeah Betsy Layne is weak but Haysi's first two non district opponents were Rye Cove and Clintwood both of which are leading contenders to win their respective districts.

Look at the rest of the schedule before you begin calling it weak. They play 4 Double A schools including two that are division 4. Oh and by the way the beat clintwood who beat powell valley and there is no doubt in my mind that they would beat j. i. burton bad.

I feel like Clintwood is going to beat Burton as well...I'm not going to say there isn't a doubt in my mind but I feel thats how it will turn out, I guess we'll see.

Yeah Hurley has some real speed. the castlewood game was tied 6-6 going into the fourth and then 3 long td runs

Kelly may have won the BDD one year when Gabe Barnette played and that would have been 01. When Kelly had some decent teams Barnettes sophmore and junior years Honaker ruled the region with Heath Miller and Co. I highly doubt Kelly could have done much against those Honaker teams.
