holy shit ar eyou serious?!?!? please tell me that you're like 14 years old or younger. Of corse a frickin mr2 turbo is quicker than a del sol si. Shit, its quicker than a del sol VTEC. we're comparing 2 diff cars in 2 diff class' as far as performance. Any factory model mr2 will dust any del sol in any racing aspect.

Pro's
-Good Gas mileage
-Honda reliability
-HUGE aftermarket industry backing it up as far as performance pieces and not so much appearance.
-Nice cargo space in trunk + Carbo bins in the back + small dinky glove box
-Seats look 10X's better IMO
-Rear window rolls down
-Targa top

-FRONT WHEEL DRIVE!!!

All in all, geez i LOVE both cars to death. A MR2 Turbo is DEFINATELY one of the top few cars i must and WILL own before i die. The del sol i already do have and dont plan on selling it ANYTIME soon whatsoever unless i get hit by another asian woman lol. But like i said, you're comparing 2 diff cars in 2 diff class'. If you want a car thats a good daily drive and that can be made fast and competative, i'd say go with the del sol. If you need/want a weekend car to floss around and have fun with ehre and there, the mr2 would be my choice.

hey i was wondering, between a 95 toyota mr2 turbo, and a 95 del sol si stock with a vtec, which would be faster, and which would be more reliable. Im interested in both cars, but i think that a mr2 turbo would be faster, i like the look of them better also. I know this is a del sol message board, but id like your view of both these cars. Thanks alot!

Just some numbers for you to look at. the first is the 0-60 time and the second is 1/4 mile time..you would need an s2000 to beat that MR2 Turbo.

Yes the turbo MR2 would be the only one to look at, the other models are pretty slow with only 130hp. They had a article in Sports Compact a while back and that's what they stated. I looked at them when I was looking for a different car at the time when I got my sol, but my legs are to long and I wouldn't be able to drive it.
On insurance, I'd say around $200-300 a month at your age, maybe a bit more for full coverage if your making payments. Anyway it will be more then the car payment, sorry that's just the way it is, they got you and there's nothing you can do about it. I guess I'm pretty lucky as mine is only $50 some a month for full coverage.
If you get one remember that maintance I was talking about so it lives a long life for you.

I wouldn't go as far as getting a mr2 turbo at your age. Shit, if anything, start yourself off with the n/a version and swap the turbo motor in or somethin of the like. Parts, maintenence, insurance, ANYTHING...is pretty expensve about owning one other than the price tag for buying one. Not only that but if you plan on doing your own work with the car, from what i hear, they dont have much of any space to work with the motor in the vehicle. Some say that anything you do to the motor, you'd be better off taking the motor out and working on it. So its not exactly a honda. The benefits as far as performance is great, but everything else just HURTS the pocket.

dude dont look at getting to fast of a car you will just get yourself in trouble or end up killing yourself. i would be the person ask on that subject ive paid over $20,000 in fines and have had my lisence suspended about 6 times got about two pages of infractions and i can prove it. would you rather spend that kind of money and time on your car? I sure wish i would have. Its not worth it take it to the track. sorry i just had to vent.

thats true i could have done alot more to my car if i would have been a little smarter. It would actually been driving too LOL. but what do you do you cant take it back. but ive also learn my lesson. i was paying $498 a month for liabilty insurance and now that ive been slowing down alot more and my ticket have been comeing of my record Im only paying $130 a month full coverage. what a big differance. plus i had a few very good friends pass on because they were driving too fast

hi, my first car was an 1992 NA t-top. i have good grades too and insurance was about 220 a month full coverage. i imagine for a turbo it would be over 300 for someone 17. so like playboi said, get an NA and drive it around for a few months so you get used to the mid engine feel. then swap in a turbo and dont tell your insurance agent [img]wink.gif[/img]
and as to the mr2 being 50/50 weight distrubution that isnt true. its more like 43/57 if i remember correctly. if you do get one please do not think you will be carving corners at fast speeds because its mid engine. the car is rear heavy and you will likely experience snap oversteer very unexpectedly and wont know what to do. and if you get one please take good care of it and be responsible...too many of these rare cars are dissapearing from the road.
