So with roughly two months left in 2005, it's time to take stock.
What's everyone up to presently?
And is anyone gonna make it big(ger) in 06?
I wonder how many people have wandered through this forum at some point in time and ended up getting a "real" job?
Kudos to those of you still standing I say.
Well from November the 7th Im taking on a full size workshop as the armoury and model making side of my business is really taking off (anyone need a miniature lenin?). Very scarey as its all the cash i have in the whole world going into it, heck im even paying people.
Mortus illumina, is so near to completion you can smell it , it smells very nice like a fine italian merlot.
As far as I can recall Mortus was on the go when I first joined exposure all those years ago...hope you have an extensive making of for the dvd. Didn't you sell the overseas rights ages ago?
Offer still on the table, wating for completion to hopefully get more offers.
I wrapped production on my short film 'Green Saints', and it's now had all the foley and ADR completed and mixed. It's now at a sound studio getting mastered for 5.1. (It's so much work just to get a dolby logo on your film, i had no idea).
I'm also in pre-production for my next short film 'Fish Tank'. Which i'm hoping will get me into the final 16 for Tropfest. That festival allows the 16 finalists to submit a feature film script for $1m to produce it.
So i'm hoping '06 will be a big year for me.
3 shoots completed in the last month and 1 to go on my short film - It is day. Hoping to have it edited and scored by March for a run at the festivals next year...
What are you up to Generic? I like your little showreel/preview thingy.

Shot the final scene for Circus Of The Damned last Sunday, which went better than I could imagine. Loads of really enthusiastic Extras and campy props.
Still have a couple of pickups to do, and a little bit of animation to complete one scene, but thats all - and it neednt involve too much organising.
Have to organise the Hard Drive on my MAC to edit the sucker, (This is a total cottage industry) and then its going to be getting up an hour early every day and ploughing through it until its done. (I already have a 'real' (ish) job.)
Expecting Twins early next year (2006 will be a BIG YEAR, but not as far as filmmaking is concerned) so unless I get cracking then it might not surface for yet another year (or so) :-o
Plan is to get it finished before Mortus Illumina ;-)
Got another showing of C.O.T.D. Part 1 this weekend at a film society ( http://www.reelpeople.org.uk/ ) Halloween night , warm up act for Shaun of the Dead :-)

'Anamnesis' painfully close to completion. Have just recieved some music from a friend, and should be getting some more next week, then I have a week off from my real job in November to put the whole thing together before we show it on December 9th.
2006 will have to be relatively quiet. I will probably just write, or my girlfriend of 7 years will probably leave me. She turns 30 next year, so there will probably be the whole mortgage/kids thing to do (to be honest, i'd be just as excited about the whole kids thing - less excited about the mortgage thing). Maybe I'll write a short I can shoot in 2007, although I'll probably get carried away and end up writing Dr. Zhivago in space.
This year has been fairly slow when it comes to any progress I've made. Though the birth of bigphat films has been warmly receieved - we still haven't gotten onto our first "major" project yet. We've been concentrating on - but only in pieces, Skanked Up - which is really just a little "test" feature-film for me and all my friends. The teaser trailer is now available but the final product is still many months from completion. We've had to shoot at weekends and odd days though because *gasp* cast & crew are friends, not professionals, nor people I would even say have that much commitment (but of course SOME do!) - so its quite hard to organise & keep everyone working on set.
2006 will be better and although I've gone back to college [for the purpose of excelling, getting a distinction at BTEC level & then setting up a wed-vid co to fund future features] I will still have holidays to film a couple of projects we have lined up. Whole Wired World, a feature length ukbuster & Wiseman (working title!) - a fantasy film set in the "Shire" (that'll be Oxford-shire ). So I'll keep you posted if any of these go ahead. I have a long term goal planned, & I have all the movies planned that I think will lead me to that goal. I hope, in 2006 - providing al q'aeda don't wipe us out, or worse still, make filming laws in the UK impossible - you should see two features from me
Nice topic Skinhead! Though sadly, I'm no closer to a related job. I went to a live TV show "Loose Women" (LOL) the other day and then the iMax cinema with college. That was a laugh

Bartering for a global financial news channel contract at our Chinese headquarters. Peddling it already to some customers.
--
Working also on establishing a connection with bullseye.tv to get some of our rubbish screened.
Working on my first 16mm short, Amenity for a Fiver, which I'll be editing. Nothing groundbreaking, but assuming the director and DOP get all the shots needed, it'll be a nice little short.
Day of the Bread: Killer Sandwich III - late '05/early '06.
Next summer, I hope to shoot Rumble in the Bowels, marking my feature debut. It needs a re-write or two, and it depends if I can get a good producer, but hopefully it's a goer.
Also, I'll be pimping my shit to anyone and everyone throughout the year.

Amen, that's the life we've chosen. Seems everytime I get into a conversation I find myself pimping. I'm at a party, there's a nice girl, and I'm thinking, Damn she's hot, I wonder if I can sell her a ticket to my film.

(i've done that before)
Hmm.
I have a nice place now, I have a nice girlfriend and I've got an awesome job where I've stranded after my internship (small creative advertising company).
I've made my first serious production which turned out completely bullocks.
I've got many ideas floating around now, and a few real ones which I'm slowly turning into scripts. I haven't shot a film in quite a while but I intend to pick it up again really soon.
So it's pretty quiet on the 'movie making front'. But the rest is pretty awesome.
Went into business with a friend in April, a video production company. Doing very well so far especially considering it's our 1st year. We're mostly making corporate and training videos at this stage. Plan is to continue to do that until we're at the point to get some real film projects up and running.
Until then, you won't hear a lot from me and my enjoyment in creating beautiful corporate work...
I have a new girlfriend, I should soon have a completed divorce, and I've failed to make any meaningful creative product this year.
Hopefully next year I'll have fully turned my story outline into a feature screenplay, and it won't be a big pile of poo.
And I'll have had a music video shown at a film festival (only 4 weeks left to make it!)...
Music, music and music for games. I hope to be sneaking a few film and short projects in next year as well. Having a kid around new year. Buying a house around now (that is I'm looking for the right one).
Nothing exciting right now this Summer was pretty busy but now as the cold months start taking hold things will slow down. I am supposed to shoot a script in the next week or three but who the hell knows if the guy will ever get his ass in gear.
Good Luck

Still working away editing on an evening and filming some weekends, mostly wedding videos. I don't like doing them but it earns some cash. Also work on some corporate videos and training video sometimes which is generally pretty good.
Planning some documentary projects for next year, hopefully being able to sell them to TV. Also got some special interest videos/DVDs in mind for next year. Plus I hope to finally get my first short film filmed this winter.
2005 was a fun year for us, and we're really looking forward to next year. Back in August, we had a short and a feature shown at a local (very local) film fest, and we were reccently contacted about having two of our features aired at a sci-fi convention in California bay area some time in the spring 2006. There's no money associated with the festival or the convention, but putting a movie out there in front of an audience is the important part, right?
Also, we're ramping up to shoot another short in 2 weeks. Assuming that we get all the photography done by the end of November, I was hoping to have post wrapped early next year, however I've recently been contracted to do two music videos for local bands and to author a soundtrack for a feature-length horror movie. Between all that, and balancing a full-time job, life just became very interesting.
Well it's good to see so many people still around...
Thanks for saying you liked the preview Justin. I was asked to upload my stuff to Lulu.com by the Independent Film Source in LA...I told them that no one buys shorts...but they kept emailing, so I relented.
What's the harm?
I graduated from Film School and went to a film festival with my short Ten. I've written a feature script which is no doubt at the very bottom of a mile high paper stack in various storerooms around the production houses of Dublin.
I am at present considering shooting a feature film in Portugal.
And writing more than at any time in my short history.
I pay the bills editing and doing script work for others.
2006 is a really, REALLY big year for me.

Finished University couple of months back with a solid grade and am now on an 18 month contract with The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum to make a series of short films for them.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Finished the edit and showed a 138 min version to cast + crew etc. on 9/12/05, who all agreed it was to long, so spent the fist 1/3 of '06 removing another 9 minutes. Got some DVDs made (and still have just over half sitting in a box, actuall number sold and money actually changed hands, ~12). Apparently got shown at Portobello film festival, but they forgot to tell us, so we didn't go. Had an extract shown at festival of fantastic films in manchester, which didn't go very well for various technical reasons, including (but not exclusively) that our film was not as good technically as the other films being shown at the same time.Quote:

Have taken out a mortgage and will hopefully move into first own home in next month or so. Next project will be a music video for a friends band (It will be weird having a 4 minute time limit, and it might turn into a MJ Thriller type of thing, with a 15 minute intro and 20 minute outro).Quote:

p.s. Mike, have you seen 'Hardcore: A Poke Into The Adult Film Orifice'? Or even heard of it? It's a mockumentary about a director of adult movies (played by an actor I worked with on anamnesis) who decides to cross over to mainstream movies, but runs into difficulties with his producers. It stars Pano Masti as the main male adult entertainer. Sound familiar? A link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489071/
p.p.s. Christian, am I right in thinking you scored some of the music in the PS2 timesplitter series. I ordered TS2 and TS:Future Perfect off of eBay yesterday, were you involved in either of those?
My composer recently got a place on the Screen Yorkshire funding board, so I'm gonna see if he can get them to stump up some cash for my feature. I sincerely doubt they will, since it's a action comedy about a flatulent superhero, but it's worth a shot.
Other than listening to a shitload of Oingo Boingo, I haven't been up to much. Produced a semi-decent documentary earlier in the year, but I personally haven't directed anything since Killer Sandwich 2.
Hopefully, this will change next semester when I go back to uni.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hi Richard. Yes I was involved in TS:FP - did about 70% of the story mode music and all of the cinematics.Quote:

@Untamed - cool. Indeed sounds like it's worth a shot. Who is your composer? Someone I know maybe?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, I finally got a proper video production job as an editor in Leeds using Avid Liquid Chrome. Since I do edting full time I don't do the wedding and corporate stuff so much anymore.Quote:

I'm currently editing my documentary on the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride. I'm hoping to sell it to some cable and satellite channels once it's finished.
My short film is still waiting to be filmed. Once the doc is finished I'm hoping that I can get on with the short film through the winter.
In the meantime I'm trying to learn After Effects inside out. I'm also trying to greatly improve my web design and Dreamweaver skills as these are currently lacking. Anybody looking at my website will no doubt agree improvement is needed.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes indeed, in fact I seem to remember wishing the director good luck in an email. I fear Pano has become typecast. I've not seen Hardcore but the trailers and other stuff I've seen make it all seem a little obvious and don't imply any sort of plot. I spose if you've never heard of Alan Smithee it might grab you .... I'd be interested in seeing it if only to measure up the competition ;-)Quote:

Strangely, a cast member of Hardcore is currently on my "A" list for the female lead in Sexton Lovecraft.
'tis a small low-budget world

I forgot to mention, Angry and Moist is now available on a feature packed special edition DVD through the

Coming soon... Tales of the Killer Sandwich!
I have two projects in the works. First, a pretty long film that may end up to be about an hour, which I plan to start filming somtime during next summer in order to appropriate funds and finish the script and whatnot.
in addition I finished a collaborated comedy script. We plan to have it filmed over the next few weekends. ive passed around the script and its a cultcomedy hit! we'll see how the actual filming comes out. Probably about 15 minutes total when its done and it will be on YouTube so I'll link later...
Polishing up the sound on The Flonzo Movie 2, which is one of my guilty pleasures currently. Having a screening, soon, thinking of mass producing dvd's, but youtube seems to have rendered that idea void.
