That's the drummer for X JAPAN - the Iron Maiden or Metallica of Japan basically.
Warning: this video is more like a SOAP OPERA than a drum solo... the guy is melodramatic to the max and even weeps on his drums after his solo... which occurs after the pompous orchestral intro music! LMAO

i dont think it was that recent that the singer commited suicide. It was when i was still in japan... i think it mighta been like 7 years ago or so already...
it was pretty big man. I think it was all over the news. so many people were at he funeral and i think i heard that people actually committed suicide themselves after hearing the news! YIKES!
hey CL you mean like bad as in cool/good or like literally bad? I personaly was pretty wierded out.
as Cl says, that solo is a big show! There is some freaky orchestral music for like 3 minutes then like a 1 minute double bass bashing around the toms solo and then he passes out or starts weeping or whatever then starts getting up again with the orchestral music.
When i used to frequent other forums i heard this guy broke his arms once playing drums

Yeah I think this guy had some serious physical problems due to his totally technique-free bashing... not sure if he broke his arms, but it wouldn't surprise me!

No sorry Cl. I dunno who that is. Although I lived in Japan all my life, i almost never listened to their music. My mom was born and raised in the US (Hawaii, and later Boston) before she married my Japanese father (who doesnt even really care for music at all) so I was brought up on classic rock and soul even in Japan.
the bands I do kinda remember though are...
X-Japan, Larc enCiel, Bz ,Glay, Southern Allstars, Wolves Deen ... .. i dunno if you heard of em or care about em but just to let you know...
their pop is really popular though,and seems to dominate.
