Came out yesterday............Neil sounds/looks better on this one then the Rio DVD of last year.
Although, the crowd shots were much more impressive on the other DVD.
2 versions came out, 1 just the double DVD, the other comes with 2 audio cds.
Also inclueds some great interviews.
might have to run out at lunchtime...
It has been awhile since I have purchased any of Rush's material. Sound's like I might have to break down and get this. Thank's for the heads up Randy.
...yes it's been a while since I've bought any Rush material too.. I've borrowed the Rush In Rio DVD, which was cool to see - especially the interviews disc (oddly enough). Mostly I wouldn't buy those because I can't honestly say I'd watch it more than once.
But overall, Neil using Traditional Grip the way he does just gives me a headache.
Well, just popped it in, it was worth the 30 bucks, by far...very cool. More intimate than the Rio DVD.
Neil's drums sound tight, very crisp bell sound on that ride...almost too cutting...boy does he hit HARD.
Lifeson is a mother on the guitar...damn...what a sound.
Goooooood stuff.

I just noticed the added piece of 'gear' to Geddy's rig [img]wink.gif[/img] ..................(snack machine next to the dryers)
Also like the Pirate thang during the medley of 2112/Cygnus/Working man.
What is the deal with the dryers? They appear to be mic'd. Does Neil ever smile? It looks like it is such hard work for him, so much concentration. Thankfully, the crowd noise is much lower in the mix compared to Rio. All in all, great DVD.
The dryers are an inside joke.........Geddy now goes direct instead of having a full blown bass rig onstage, so, to make up for an 'empty' bass side stage, they put the dryers there.
If you watch close, neil does indeed smile when the 'pirates' come out to change the laundry during the 2112 medley.
This is the best Rush DVD ever. The production is top notch, I can't believe how good the sound is. It's not that direct from the board sound, it has the boominess from the PA as well which I like. The extras are priceless as well.
The R30 is just perfect. The concert is great, but man those interviews and live old footage of them playing. Circumstances, La Villa Strangiato, Xanadu, and Freewill. I just wanted to see that stuff. The concert is the exact same deal as the Rio DVD. The video and sound are great on the R30. The interview of them back in the Signals days was the best. Neil is the best speaker there is on this planet. It?s like he has already put months of thought into what he is saying. Neil?s acceptance speech when they received the Juno award IS the most sincere, honest, and humbling words you could say. Alex should have just shut up. 3 dozen eggs. WTF. Does anyone know about the Easter eggs!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Need that code big time.
