Nice Job by the Frosh there to kick that thru and nice running on that last drive by Counts and Jones injured and all. Wish i would have came. Almost as exciting listing. Congratulations to Haysi and on to next week to play Giles. PV good game but there is only next season for you guys now.

Yeah it ended up being alot closer than it should of been...Haysi had alot more talent but Mitchell is for real, he just didn't have much help. Nice post colorist and this Haysi fan appreciates it.
It definitely ranks in the top 2 with the best Haysi game I have ever watched...I still might have to go with the win over PV in '93 however...it was truly dramatic just like today.
You are right redtiger Haysi won the game on the offense and defensive line...they dominated in that area.
Congratulations to Haysi for their win today! Like I said in my posting regarding the matchup, I didn't think they would be able to pull it out but was hoping they would beat Powell Valley. One time I am glad to say I'm glad to be proved wrong. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Single Wing offense or not, Giles will not have an easy time running against Haysi. With there penetration and tackling ability, Giles may need to catch them off guard throwing the ball. As Haysi proved today, there defense can hold even a potent offense (47 on Gate City is nothing to sneeze at) to there season standard of 14 or less. I figure the bigger match-up will be Haysi's ability to move the football against Giles defense because I just don't think Giles will be potent enough throwing to get Haysi out of their backfield.
I am hoping I am able to go watch that game next Saturday at Sandlick.
Great Game Tigers you proved what the Haysi Faithfuls have knew all along in that we had a great team that can play with anyone in the region. Definitely one of the best and most exciting football games I have seen. Both teams showed great sportsmanship throughout the game and Congrats to the Tigers and Good Luck next week and great season Powell Valley. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of class and ignorance of the PV posters on the LPD forum. I know it doesnt reflect on the team but all of the "PV cant be beat" "Who is Haysi" and "Haysi will be no match for PV and will go blown out" was rather sad. The BDD Forum is civil and respectful to everyone and the LPD Forum should be the same. Especially since Haysi proved to be the better team today. Great Game and Good Luck Sat. Tigers!

Check out VaPreps. I don't know whether these Giles people are all middle schoolers or people who were never taught to grow up. I have yet to see ONE mature person from Giles on there. Here is the link

Good job Haysi and congradulations Allen ona perfect kick when the pressure was on. Haysi fans were yelling like crazy for us to call a timeout when there was still about 20 sec. left but we didnt. Im surprised PV didnt call a timeout so they could get the ball back though.
Yeah I heard ppl yelling to call a timeout and I was like no you don't call a timeout you run it down to about 4 seconds like Coach did and kick with no time left. Yeah I was really suprised Phil didn't call a timeout.
I didn't have enough confidence in allen being so young and under all that pressure so I was one of the people yelling for a timeout but I was thankfully proven wrong. Allen is a great kicker.
You never ever call a time out in that situation...i was actually telling people in the stands to calm down because lance was standing right beside the official and had the time out called...you always make the kick the last play of the game if its 4th down.
Definitely hafta give major props to Allen Owens as you guys said. Most Seniors would have buckled under that much pressure but he being a Freshman handled the pressure and made the clutch field goal. Gotta feel good being a freshman and winning a region d championship game for your team. I bet he got laid after the game for that kick. haha
LOL yeah and he instantly surpassed his uncle Mike's kicking legend with that one single historic boot.
