It was more AG stuff than I've ever seen in one place, and it left me absolutely DROOLING!
Today was set-up day for the "Providence O'Christmas Trees Celebration" at the Westin Seattle hotel, and my dad volunteered me to help him drop off the HUGE ark he made to go with our office's Noah's Ark-themed tree.
Now, I think it's bad enough that not only do I still live at home, but my dad and I also work together. There's not really any separation in my two worlds...it's like there's always a piece of home at work, and always a piece of work at home. So I was trying to be a good sport, but I wasn't all that excited about spending the last day of my four-day vacation at, well, work.
That is...until I saw the tree that was going up next to our tree. It's...an AMERICAN GIRL tree! Kit's at the top, wearing her Christmas dress and holding out a star, and I also saw Josefina, Addy, Kirsten, Molly, Kaya, Samantha, and Nellie being unpacked. Plus the mini-dolls, and Kit's bed, Samantha's desk, and Kaya's teepee.
The trees and all their decorations are auctioned off to benefit Providence Senior and Community Services, so one (or maybe several) little girl(s) is/are going to be VERY happy this holiday season. There's also a trip that goes with some of the trees, like ours I think is a cruise for two, in keeping with the Noah's Ark theme. Theirs is, you guessed it...a trip to AG Place. I'm not sure if it's Chicago or New York though. The trees usually go for up to $10,000, so I don't think it's in the budget for this year but I'm going to try to go back for the free viewing tomorrow when everything's set up, and I'll see if I can take pictures. Along with pictures of our ark, which is actually pretty darn cool.
What really floored me was that one of the ladies working on the AG tree said "This is going to be a tough tree to be next to" when she saw our ark. I was like "Oh, I don't think you'll have any trouble." It's not really a competition anyway, since it all goes to a great cause.
If anyone in the Seattle area wants to check it out, there's a free viewing tomorrow, and then a Santa Claus brunch on Tuesday for $40 a person. The dinner and auction is Wednesday and costs $275 a person. All the information is here: http://www.providence.org/Long_Term_...s/default.htm. I hope some of you can go see it for yourself!
Editing to add pics!

Please take pictures, I'll bet all the trees are beautiful.

Lol, I'm looking forward to seeing what Samantha's desk and Kaya's tepee look like on a Christmas tree. That tree must be huge, and really strong, to hold all that cool stuff!
What a neat idea for an auction!

Do you get to go to the auction or even to the preview? I'd love to see pictures of the trees, especially the AG tree! Maybe they will put up pics on the website?
-
That's a neat tree, AG themed. Wow, $10,000 for a tree? $275 to get in... I don't think that would be an auction that I would attend...yikes!
-
Lol...I think the desk and teepee are probably going around the tree instead of in it, but I guess I'll see for myself tomorrow. They were putting the finishing touches on the lights while I was there, and I also saw them unpacking some very cool-looking star-shaped paper lanterns. It'll be fun to see all the trees...I also saw a Barbie one going up, and a kind of white-on-white themed one. I'm anxious to see how our (I keep saying our...all I did was escort the ark there!) tree turned out...we had soooo many animals! Three little girls happened to walk through the ballroom with their mom when I was there, and you should've seen them run for that AG tree!
I won't be going to the auction--$275 is a little too pricy for me, even though it's going to a good cause. But I'm all about that "treeview" tomorrow. I'll see if I can sneak out during lunch, or I'll go after work. And I really don't think they'd have a problem with me taking pics, but if I can't, Team Photogenic is the event photographer, and they should have the photos up on their website pretty quick. Editing because my head is still in the clouds and I can't spell!

Pictures are coming...there's just been a slight delay.
I ALWAYS have my digital camera in my purse. Except I took it out this weekend, because my boyfriend was in town for Thanksgiving and we were carrying his camera, which is much smaller. Well...I left my camera out on the counter so I would be sure to remember it this morning, and guess what I forgot to grab on my way out the door?
But...I knew I couldn't let everyone down after I'd talked this thing up so much, so I bought a disposable camera and will drop it off at Rite-Aid tomorrow. Then I'll get the pics scanned and try to have an album up by the end of the week. In the meantime, I'll post the links as soon as they show up on the event photographer's website.
Oh yeah...the AG tree looks GREAT! And the Noah's Ark doesn't look too bad either.

Awesome pics--I loved the ark tree. Your dad did a greeat job on the ark and those animals were so sweet.

Okay...pics are finally here. I'd forgotten what a pain it is to scan and crop pictures...remind me not to forget my digital camera again. The AG tree did very well in the auction...it brought in $5,000 for Providence Senior and Community Services. And the Noah's Ark tree from our office did okay too...to the tune of $39,000!

Wow, that AG tree was amazing and had so many great items. Your tree was fantastic too! Also, it's great that these trees made so much money for a great cause. - Meg B.

Okay...I promise this is the last time I'll add to this thread. Here are some cute photos from the night of the auction. There was even a little girl wearing the Chocolate Cherry Cheetah outfit playing with Nellie in the display--not included in the price of the auction though!
And here are the event photographer's individual photos of each tree. It looks like they added even MORE to the AG tree before the actual auction, because I don't remember seeing Sparks Flying or Tatlo, or Nellie's accessories, when I was there.
And you guys are too sweet, because I deserve absolutely NO credit for that ark tree...I mostly just hung out and watched while they were setting it up. I did help make a rainbow for Noah, but they ended up not using it because it didn't "go" with the tree. (It really didn't!)

Great pictures Erin! Your dad did a beautiful job creating the ark.

That AG tree is absolutely wonderful, but I have to admit that I like the Noah's Ark tree better.

My sister use to live in an apartment over looking the Seattle Monorail. Not far from where you took that photo. She lived at 4th and the street over the Alaskan Highway where it runs under ground. I will have to tell her what happened, she would get a good laught out of it.
