Love my job

I aboslutely love it here. This morning, a collegue and I were discussing mud tires for this truck, and then about five minutes later another guy and I were talking about a new program that Microsoft is releasing (Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003 for those that care). Anyways, I didn't really realize this but we have access (legally) to any Microsoft product they have released. This means that as soon as .net 2003 came out, we have access to it. So he went out and started downloading it. I was so excited. I got to thinking about it, and I knew that Visual studio 6.0 was roughly around 1000 dollars, much less with student discounts (and free with connections) but I was wondering how much the Developer's Architecture version of Visual Studio .Net 2003 was...so i looked. Believe it or not, with no questions asked, I was able to get a copy of this program free of charge that would normally cost 2500 DOLLARS...that's right folks 2500 dollars. and i got it for free....a legal copy...no cracks...no warez...straight from microsoft's website. i love my job

and right now.... jason is desperate to get some
decent art proggie on his home pc....

i wish i knew what all that jazz is you are talking
about... but i refuse to get all bunched up
everytime MS brings out a new BS proggie.

tell tell tell.... what does this shit do?

this shit allows me to create enormous projects....programs...and other executables either web-based...or stand alone...in several different languages including Visual Basic, C/C++, and the new C# that Microsoft has introduced. I am about to create a web-based app using this new technology (although I already have Microsoft Visual Studio .Net) when I get it installed on my computer to keep up with all the employees here at computer works and allow all of us to update our whereabouts at any location that has internet access. This is our way of keeping up with where everyone is, and eventually it will become nearly an automated secretary. This will then be available for purchase to other companies, we will sell the product, they will pay us, I will retire by age 25...basically that is about it.


and i know the program that Jason is requesting I think...Adobe Photoshop...which I do have access to, but have not been able to get my hands on it here lately, I did promise him a copy of it, and just to let him know, i have not forgotten.

I would like to know of these proggies you speak of. there are several other programs out there though that are much much better than photoshop....he should look into some of those. i know of someone who has such a program.

i'm not sure if this person wants to be advertised ....and why in the world do you refer to programs as proggies? is it your own special way of annoying the hell out of me? the first time or two..i was like hey, that's kind cool to shorten it, but i've had enough....(this is all said in a semi-playful way). they are programs. executables if you perfer that... i would be happy with .exe's or even just .exe ok...**steps down from soap box.

if this person ever visits and reads the thread, i think he will know who i am talking about....and he might not...he might not even have such a .exe (pronounced "DOT E-X-E").

i shall never refer to them as EXCUTABLES...

...and in this state, chances are you'd be able to discuss mud tires in virtually any workplace environment with numerous employees.

but not many places can you talk about mud tires and then turn around and have an intelligent conversation about computers.

It'll shit all over crappy Photoshop anyday. I've only two gripes with PSP, whereas Photoshop.. well, everytime I open that mofo I find another friggin hassle popping up.

If Jason wants something better than m$paint, why not download the Gimp? It is alot better than paint, and it is free.

I tried that program once, but I didn't like it. It crashed a lot, which was a bit of a concern.

Some versions were rather unstable, but the last time I used it, it seemed to run rather well.
Besides, it's free, as long as you save often, who cares if it crashes sometimes.

Well my one was crashing frequently, and because of that, I have not been prepared to give it another chance.

Especially when PSP can do the job so much better.

Yeah, when one gets something better, the desire to use other stuff sorta dissapears. I uninstalled all the other programs I had right after I started playing with Maya.

Ooo I am yet to venture into Maya territory.

Well, from reading those reviews, I gather that they have the same features, only Photoshop is eaiser for 'beginners' to use... whereas PSP is for the more advanced users.

I guess, since you're looking to upgrade from MS Paint, then, yeah, I guess you'd prefer Photo "easy to use but hard to refine features" Shop over Paint "do what you want, I'll be your bitch" Shop Pro.

I'll stick to PSP.

You can do good work with any program.

As long as you know what you're doing (in terms of the final outcome) you can use damn near any program.

Brando is right. Most of the time it is just what you are used to.

However, I have used many of the popular programs (including psp7 that he is in love with) and in my opinion, Photoshop kicks all their asses.

psp7 is on sale at a local computer store for 20 dollars, i forget if it is best buy of circuit city. whatever the case, i thought 20 bucks for a software that normally runs 100 dollars is not too bad (of course that is after mail in rebates and such). also...it is not as good of a deal as getting it for free.....oh the beauty of understanding computers.

no i did not get it, i will not get it (at least not from the store).

I did get a copy of photoshop 7 yesterday, so jason, somehow or another i need to get you a copy.

as for the other on, i will be getting at some point...just not right now, i get it from the guys here at work, cause it's a lot easier than trying to find it and download it on my own. since i just recently got windows xp, 2000, me, office xp, office 2000, photoshop, and a cd full of misc utility programs, i think i will wait a while before i get a copy of other things. and i have no need for it anyways, i don't do graphics and imaging.
