Zyclone, Biggie, and others have urged me in recent weeks to abandon my duties and loyalty to this board in favor of setting up residency over at TOT. I stubbornly refused for a number of reasons, among them that I like the look of this board better, and I can relate better to the core group of posters who once regularly visited here. Nothing against TOT, it's just that its main posters are ones with whom I have little in common. And despite the problems experienced by this board, I wanted to give Steven the benefit of the doubt when he claimed that great improvements were just around the corner. I felt that if he made the changes he said would be made, and most importantly if he was able to improve speed and reliability, we could slowly regain some of the posters who'd defected, and perhaps attract some quality newbies.
But these changes have not materialized, and don't seem to be occurring any time soon. It's sad, really, because I think this board is more visually appealing, and I'm not crazy about the infinite quote boxes on php boards, among other minor details. Another important feature of HB is that it's free (ya get what ya pay for?). But what can be said about php is that it is consistently fast and reliable; when you want to read or post, you're able to. In the final analysis, this is what's important. Props to DC Smackmaster for creating this board, and to Steven for putting in the time, effort, and $$ to try to make HB's THE a success.
I wouldn't be posting this thread were it not for the actions of a poster who wishes to remain anonymous. This individual, who apparently felt the same as I did regarding TOT, broke out the caysh and created yet another THE for us SCers to play on. Operating according to the adage that it's easier to apologize than to ask permission, this poster installed the mods from this board as mods over there. And more recently, he has granted me administrative powers, with which I have no clue what to do.
The creator of the new board, rackthetrolls.net, took a gamble by starting it, betting that it would attract posters who aren't thrilled with TOT. Again, nothing against MagiCat, Miss Conduct, Harsh, Fatsak, or TheArtist, it's just a case of different strokes for different folks. Seems to me that it would be a shame not to give it a shot. I don't intend to take any action to shut this board down, as I had no say in creating it. But I'll likely spend more time on the new board to see what potential it may have, and as always I'll be trolling around TOT. While it may not be my place to speak for Python, he pretty much concurred with me about this in an email, and I have no idea what Filthy thinks about it.
Don't know if anything I just wrote is worth a squirt of piss to anyone, but you read through it anyway, didn't ya?

This board is simply too unreliable to be a regular posting place.
I also believe some of the mods are creating trolls to make it look like there is traffic here.
Why not let this place be like a Vent, etc, for lower volume traffic? Nothing wrong with that.

I agree with everything you said Smackie. However, the fact that this board is down a lot doesn't really mean much to me. It's just a message board. I can live with or without it. I like it here, because it's got an SC smell to it. I will register at Rack the Trolls and check it out.

I don't know of any of Filthy's trolls, and the only thing Python sux worse at than running smack is trolling, so I doubt that he's guilty of your charge. That leaves me, so I'll come clean about my trolls and let you decide if I've been bustin' 'em out lately to increase traffic:

I think you underestimate your piss squirting abilities and the value of same. Other than that, what are we talking about? Are we going to some board that keeps better hours than some of the fucked up businesses in Lovelady? This board has become "Open By Appointment Only" or so it seems.

me to, and at RTT.NET, like Smackie said, i like the 'feel' of this board as well, by the way, wasn't there a shitload of posting going on the day we all posted as Python? that was pretty fun, maybe we just need to come up with a few more games or schemes like that, anyway, i'll be sticking around a while, out.
