Liberace or Bobby Crush,
Here's one you'll like, Lenni...
Battle of the Rich Rags Drummers!
I stick up three RR tracks, from 3 different
periods, and we find out which drummer the mob
likes the best (you can do polls with this
Hostboard contraption, right?) Feel free to
choose the track which represents you, otherwise
it'll be something like this:
Big Trouble [Bedlam EP] - feat. Lenni
Radio Charlie Manson [demo] - feat. Nick
Kill Suburbia [Psycho.. CD] - feat. Davey
'Ave it!
D.
I'm staying right out of this one thankyou very much!
Lenni was probably the most inventive and chaotic, Nik was definitely the most technical, and Dave was as slack as Elton Johns sphincter but did what he was told.
The drumming on badham is awsome and I had forgetton until recently just how mad it is. Only 2 or 3 takes too. John Spence, the producer was big fan of Lenni's when we record those songs.
RCM is as tight as a clams arse and the big snare sounds like Matt Sorum. Unfortunately we hated the Studio from day one and my only memory of it is everyone bitching and the wank parlour massage place next door.
K/S, Ginger always says how fucking bored he is of playing TV tan but its such a crowd favoutite. Same with K/S for me. never one of my favs but always a song that comes up. Dave could never get the beginning right on this although it was written and performed with Nik the previous dummer.
I think they were a bunch of twats to work with, fucking prima donnas every one of them, fetch this, carry that, is my hair ok, did you sort my drinks out, fuck me what did they think I was, all that shit seriously ate into my drinking time
Thanks D. This is a difficult one for me but I think Mr Hunter has nailed it. (never knew you cared). I personally concerned myself with how the song sounded and not what I did, as long as it was in time and flowed. When Bedlam/Badham was recorded I was pretty much at the top of my game and hence pretty proud of the result. I feel alot of that was down to Paul (Angel) who has got to be the best bass player I have ever worked with, not due to technical ability but the feel and understanding we had, (less is more).
As for the other guys Nick was definiteley more technical but so not Rich Rags (not bitchin just an opinion) and Davey he was so similar in style to me but not quite on it, he just needed to relax (again just my opinion) fuckin lovely bloke, we used to get on like an house on fire. I do regret not sticking it out with the Rags and I would have loved to have done the album (things would have been different) but my life was so fucked at the time and I made a choice, in hindsight probably the wrong one.
Ahh fuck it, I go Liberace.
P.S. Johnny was the worst fuckin drum tech ever, but you needed him to be there.
Does that mean the poll's off or on?
D.
I just say it as I see it, it ain't up to me..
Oh well. If enough people want it, we'll do it.
D.
Would be interesting.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH I ALWAYS THOUGHT RICK ALLEN WITH NO FUCKING ARMS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN YOU LOL
RR drummers were a soap opera on there own. originally John Andrew the drummer with late 80s band Kingmaker but John was in the hired gun business and went off on tour with some bird playing shopping malls for two weeks, which was not viewed by us as committment enough. He came back a few days earlier than expected to find Lenni's kit sitting in the middle of the rehearsal room and went mad. When Lenni left about 2 years later, Nik rang up to ask if we would be interested in him joining. He casually mentioned that his current bandless situation had come about becuase he had punched out Ample Cleavages singer Liz. (the band Nik and formed with his brother Phil)
Nik was in about 18 months before both me and Jon Stewart came close to blows with Nik. Great guy but a mad temper. Meanwhile Davey had relocated from Telford to replace Nik in Ample Cleaveage. Both Nik, his brother, and Wavey Davey lived in the same house in Doncaster. When things got really fraught with Nik, Davey casually made it apparent that 'if Nik got chucked out of Rags he would happily audition.
I had the unenviable task of sacking Nik, whilst Davey came over to Hull for a couple of days rehearsal. Someone inadvertantly told Nik that Davey was over in Hull, Nik put 2 and 2 togther, and when Davey went back to Doncaster that night Nik threw him out of the house and told him he would see him burn hell before he ever spoke to him again.
Fucking Drummers man, theyre a nightmare breed.

Funny cos as a favour I played about 5 or 6 gigs with Ample Cleavage when Nick went to RR. Absolute fuckin chaos, but I did'nt give a fuck cos I got twenty five quid a gig..
How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb....?
The only bizarre gardening accident involving Rich Rags was when Paul & Jon disturbed a nest of maternal partridges whilst having a piss in a field off the A1. This radged up mother partridge chased them about 200 yards, pecking at their heads, as they ran squealing back to the van.
They were both stoned as well. They hadn't a clue what was happening. Funnily enough Johnny B outlasted all our drummers. The only man who could cope.

Ten minutes later six marshall cabs fucked, a punter with a suspected broken leg, one ambulance outside the venue and the manager calling his lawyer. Need I say more.
Dunno?
<font size="4" face="Arial">None. We can break 'em all right, but the techs have to fix em...Quote:

A thought just occured to me, you don't think I was the reason that they all left do you?
It would be so obvious to say yes. But??
It might have been something to do with me shagging their birds (lenni exempt in this case)
