Thanks for posting that link! I might need to look into getting one of those myself.
I used a Conair brand, it was $20 at my local ShopKo (like K-Mart). To see pictures of all the products I used check my album.
This steamer worked really well, and I had to re-fill the water only once per doll.
Good luck!
Starla, after searching for it off and on for several weeks I finally found the exact model of steamer that Joy uses in her doll restoration album -- Steam Quick. Try this link:

It was very reasonable -- $4.99 plus shipping which came to a total of $11.87.
I hope this helps!
I just ordered a Rowenta from QVC. It has a plastic plate that you can put over the metal plate. I like that, because then I can also iron with it. I wanted the plastic plate, so I can steam doll hair if I need to.
It was a little more expensive...28.99, but I think still a real bargain!

Thanks for posting this question. I've needed to locate one. Now, I've ordered one too!
Stacird
Sounds like a lot of us ordered one
So who all bought one?
I bought 2 , one for me and one for DollyMomma (my mom) and I know Betty (boop) bougt one too..... Think HB will wipe out the stock???
We got ours from Shopko, too; Conair for $20. It works well. I was amazed the difference steaming made. I read somewhere, can't remember & I've deleted the email, that you can also use boiling water to dip the hair in? Anyone else tried this?
I've checked locally (walmart & target) but cant find one.

Thanks so much!
the as seen on tv one seems to have gone up to $9.99 + shipping so for me it was $16-ish. I just ordered it so I can steam Sam's hair.
Welcome back Starla! Glad to see you posting again. Hope your recovery was swift.
Welcome back, Starla!
I have a regular Sunbeam steamer which I got at our local goodwill for $8, but something else I have that I LOVE is an old early 90's Richard Caruso molecular hair curler set which works off of steam, not heat! It sets the curls perfectly in both my hair and the dolls! The curls last SO LONG!
Sorry, but it doesn't look like Homemommie is back to posting yet . This post is from back in January.
So, just curious, Carla and others, does the link that I give in my album not work any more? If not, then I should change it.
Joy
It still works for me- the item is just out of stock right now.
Joy, I tried the link back when I first viewed your album in November or so. It was out of stock then, and it is still out of stock as far as I can tell. That's why I went on an internet hunt for it and found the link in this thread.
BTW, I've been meaning to tell you thanks so much for putting together that great restoration album! It is really detailed and helpful especially for those of us who are just beginning to restore dolls.
